I know so many people that swear by Aldi that I really needed to dive in and check it out for myself. So, around the holidays I did just that. I found myself here a few days before Christmas and I needed just a few things for Christmas morning breakfast and generic groceries to get us through the week. It seemed like a good time to stop in and see what all the excitement is about. Now, I came prepared with a quarter in tow, though, I am not a fan of the quarter for a cart system and I can't imagine it's saving them a ton of money out in the suburbs. I can totally see why it would make sense in an urban setting, but out here it hardly seems like it's causing anything but frustration from those who don't have change in their bag. Now, once you're inside it feels kind of like a warehouse - maybe a little bit of Costco but smaller vibes. They have most of your staples, eggs, milk, cheese, etc. all at very good prices. I was a little let down though as they didn't have everything I needed so I still ended up at Price Chopper by the end of the day. Folks compare Aldi to Trader Joe's since they somewhat related in ownership, but I still way prefer TJ's to Aldis, it's just a more pleasant shopping experience to me as there are more fun seasonal items, and the store just feels a bit cleaner? At any rate, you can find great deals here and I'll for sure be back, but it's not yet going to be in my usual rotation. read more

I was anti-Aldi for years before my co-workers took me to this location to open my mind. I had no idea that they offer quality food at a low price. I am a healthy eater and was impressed by their produce section. They also have a great selection of off brand trail mix and almonds. I would challenge anyone to a blindfold taste test of Aldi brand almonds vs blue diamond. I went to self checkout and a message kept appearing that said "someone will be there shortly to assist you." I'm not sure why it kept popping up because I didn't need help. I was weighing produce. The woman checking people out was checking out another customer while saying across the way "5 do you need help?" (Rude to address people by what checkout station they're at) I said no thank you , (because the message then disappeared. ) A little bit later, the message came up again. The woman asked the same question, and I began to tell her the message keeps appearing. A woman with dark hair and glasses in an orange vest was walking by and began to speak loudly and rudely. "do you need help?" I TRIED to say "yes a message keeps popping up and I don't know why" .... but she interrupted me and pointed to the girl checking another customer out and was like "she can help you from where she is. Did an item scan twice what's the issue?" It was extremely rude and embarrassing. I didn't even respond to her because the message disappeared while I was talking with her (probably because it was fixed by the other girl at checkout during the conversation) & I was embarrassed being called out in front of other customers." It doesn't matter how everything transpired, what matters is that customers at self checkout should not be hollered at from across the way, and the woman in the orange vest should have came over to me if she wanted to help, or she should have minded her own damn business if she was going to be rude. Don't work in places you serve customers if you can't be respectful and pleasant. I talked with the manager and he said he would talk to her. I'm hoping so because next time I'll gladly embarrass her in front of everyone around like she did me. read more

I like the cleaner, brighter sales area of the recently remodeled store. I often buy my produce here because the prices are always reasonable (regardless of the season). There often aren't enough checkout lanes open, causing lines, but they usually move quickly. Very nice! read more

They are competing against Hyvee and ALDI is holding its own, the price are better and the staff is super nice, chocolate milk 1/2 was $1.05 and now $1.15 u can't beat that anywhere, I hit all the grocery stores, just what my mood is but will go to the ones i like the best, western Shawnee is little higher, just like Springfield mo too, they do have drive up so u don't have to leave the car, I like the barista IMO ice coffee pumpkin spice is back bigger bottle this time, must try read more

The price & quality of the groceries keep me coming back. Every once in a while you can find some random gem like an inexpensive tree swing or grilling tools here. I'll take Aldi over Whole Foods or Hyvee any day. No need to display stuff nicely on the shelves or put my groceries in bags for me. Get me in & out with good value and I'm a happy camper! I actually like shopping at Aldie and don't have a problem with their products. My issue today was with this employee who did not give a rats ass about any customers in the store and kept cutting people off as they were shopping. I was clearly walking like I was in pain, This employee cut me off three times while shopping. She looked at me at least twice when she did this the last time she kind of gave me a dirty look as I attempted to speed up. She made absolutely no apologies or comments when I said things to her Behavior. She needs to realize she Is a real percent of the company and it's because all of his shop here that she has a job. read more

The Aldo in Overland Park is much better than the location on Paseo. They offer fresher & greater options.

This location is very clean and efficient. I was able to quickly find what I need and felt they had more inventory than other locations. Produce was fresh and a great selection of organic. My only complaint is that I was never once greeted even in the check out line nor was I thanked. I was just handed a receipt and she never looked up. I did ask to keep my cart so maybe I angered her but in the day of COVID I would like to lessen my chance of exposure as much as possible. read more

ALDI is everywhere but this location deserves accolades for being the best. It's always meticulously clean, they are quick to open up more cashiers if the line gets long, they're well stocked and the staff is super polite. Nick & Matt both deserve special recognition for always being polite, ready to help, and always remembering their regular customers. Many people today are not skilled or adept at their jobs, not these two. Both Matt and Nick are a credit to ALDI. The cheese selection is always a pleasant surprise and their prices cannot be beat. The ribeyes are a great value and I love that they're individually wrapped. Of course only a few name brands are at ALDI but today 2 Liter Diet Cokes were Four 4 Five Dollars. That's an amazing price. Also, this staff clearly takes Covid-19 seriously and are super compliant with social distancing and mask wearing. I'll remember this long after the pandemic is over. Parking is terrific. I drive past another ALDI store each week to get to this one. They're head and shoulders above their competition. read more

Produce is good for the most part and improving with the addition of organics. Bagged lettuce is about 1/2 the price you pay at a regular store. My very favorite product that they sell seasonally is the Berry-Hill Carmel Topping for ice cream! It is the BEST I have ever found. It is amazing and I wished they carried it year around, but it's just during the summer months unfortunately. Also, they stand behind all of their products with a money back guarantee. Just return with your receipt - I have done it with poor produce and it's never a problem. Limited items, but can definitely save money on the basics. read more

I have had nothing but great experiences at Aldi's whether it is on 95th Street, Overland Park, Kansas or Warrensburg, Missouri. They close a wee bit early, but that also keeps overhead lower and it is reflected in lower prices overall inside. No denying, some Aldi's were temporarily closed when they upgraded their stores, but the upgrades were more than worth the temporary inconvenience. I like their innovative approaches to retailing like having more than one bar code on items which moves the check out lines remarkedly quickly and smoothly. The check out at Aldi's sure runs circles around Walmart, and the prices are most competitive. read more

I have had very pleasant experiences at the Aldi's in and around Overland Park. Their expanded selection of organic and healthy focused options makes shopping here much more attractive to me. I love their grass fed beef and organic chicken and was happily surprised to find that they now carry GT Kombucha and kefir yogurt. You can't beat their prices. I'd been getting out of grocery duty for a while so I thought I'd take one for the team. Normally I make my own list and write it in the order of the store. This time my wife prepared the list. Fast forward - I'm cussing as I make u-turns in the crowded isles, excusing myself past couples pondering which salad dressing they'd like. I'm missing thing ms off of the list. I call my wife - "you set me up. I'm running in circles here. Why isn't this list in order?!" Whelp - dummy me. The list WAS in order. Here's where I get to the review... At Aldi there's no discernible f'ing rhyme or reason to where items are located. And instead of speed reading items on neat store shelves you've got to decipher grocery jenga to find what you want. Check outs may be long but extremely efficient in the checking process. Bagging may takes a while if you need to wait for a spot on the counter. There are bargains to be had so I'm sure I'll be back. I'm also happy to report they are carrying more organic options too. My biggest gripe is being able to find the things on my list and maneuver the store in an expedient manner. This is NOT the grocery store you'd run in to for a few quick things. Won't happen!! read more

I attempted to use a coupon from Instacart on my Aldi order today. The coupon was for $15 off an order of $100. My order was over $110 before tax. When several items were out of stock, the items were removed and the order was reduced. I have no control when items are not available and no knowledge when items are not in stock. When it comes to saving money on groceries...this is the place I love! I use lots of limes and the amount I save on those alone makes the trip worth it. I love their Casa Mamita salsa, cheese, honey nut cereal, pizza, whole wheat pasta, sardines, and everything else I've purchased there. My friend loves their chocolate bars and mint chip ice cream and toilet tissue. Their selections are smaller and pretty much all items have been private labeled for them but the quality isn't missing at Aldi's. The store is clean and the staff is nice. The parking lot isn't covered with carts because they have a system I wish all stores had. You put your quarter in the slot and it releases the cart. When you return it, you get your quarter back. Their customers always seem to be polite and on one ocassion I had lots of bags and a lady walked up and helped me just to be nice. You must bring your own bags. Not a big deal to me, I've been doing that for over 20 years and like not having all those plastic bags to deal with at home. Overall, when I leave their store I cannot believe all the groceries I've purchased and for the price I've paid. Here's a bonus: When donating food I make my purchases here because I can get more. For the price of one coffee at the coffee shop I can buy almost a case of canned goods. Dollars go further at Aldi's! read more

I love Aldi's. SUPER cheap, and surprisingly the quality doesn't suffer. Some cons: they've normally got a decent amount of people there but only have 2 employees at checkout which can make for long slow lines, and you can't get everything there so you really have to stop somewhere else to get all of your specialty groceries. read more

IMO, ALDI is NOT following their stated policy on the ALDI website: "At ALDI, we know you rely on us as your trusted neighborhood grocery store. Here is how we are addressing the ongoing COVID-19 crisis: We're requiring all customers to wear face masks upon entering our stores. We're requiring all store and warehouse employees to wear face..." Today, I called their customer service and spoke with Nick... he was reluctant to give me a direct answer. It is quite apparent to me that they are not following this policy. In my experience at a store recently, there was a young woman who had no mask and no apparent physical impairment whatsoever -- I spoke to her and she simply said "I don't have one [a mask]." So, why was it my business? She got in line behind me and was less than six feet away. I asked her to keep her distance. Best produce at any grocery store I've ever been to. The fact that it also costs less is icing on the cake. Same goes for their chocolate - tastes great and costs less than Hersheys. If there's a name brand item I really want but Aldi's doesn't carry, it's so convenient to just go next door to Hy-V. The only downside is when there's a long line at checkout. I understand, though, that they're keeping prices down by having fewer employees (lowering labor costs). Don't worry , the cashiers are fast. Lots of pluses and so few minuses. Go Aldi's! read more
