You can't beat Trader Joe's! We used to live near one and go all the time in Las Vegas. We've lived in the metro (L.S.) now for 3 years and this was my first time in KC. WOW! I forgot how amazing TJ's is! The staff is incredible and the food is soooo good!! My wife is particularly stoked about the carrot cake sheet cake and peanut butter cups (the only one's we like better than Reese's). I'm excited to try the lamb vindaloo. I love going to this Trader Joe's. I fully admit I have a bit of an addiction and get my fill when I go. Their mini Brie cheese is a favorite snack. I love the stout pies. The lemon curd or a shortbread. The dill picking popcorn in the late spring/summer. My obsession with their bags, both cooler and regular, is palpable. I have quite a few colors of the TJ cooler bag and they are great bags. I use them everyday. I absolutely love when they come out either the brown bag, grab bag surprise packs! Usually around the holidays and if I'm lucky enough to get there before they are sold out, I grab a stack to give some fir gifts AND to have some to open to get my fix throughout the year. Yes, I am that person and I feel no shame! The only issue I have is sometimes when I can only make it on a Saturday evening, the shelves can be rather bare. I guess that speaks to the popularity but I wish they had even more inventory. Now I need to manifest the return of my cat's favorite toy because hers is getting near the end of its lifespan and I await the return of the cinnamon cheese each year! Typical Trader Joe's with crazy parking and this store has a VERY unusual layout inside, which made for a more complex and confusing shopping experience than I'm used to. But I was able to find all of my favorites and that is what matters in the end. Crew is terrific (I expect nothing less). As an avid Trader Joe's shopper, this is a great location! Plenty of parking outside and the inside is fairly spacious to shop around. As one of the few TJ's in the area, it is normally busy, but the checkers are always friendly and move quickly. Highly recommend if you are looking for groceries and tasty seasonal items. read more

It's so great that there are two different Trader Joe's in the KC area! This location is your typical, clean Trader Joe's. Depending on when you go, it can get pretty busy, but I would say it's not as busy as the Ward Parkway location. If you go during prime time though, the parking lot can get pretty congested, especially since this Trader Joe's shares a parking lot with a popular shopping center. My kids love to come along with me to Trader Joe's especially to this location because they have tiny carts for them to shop along side me. If you're going with multiple kiddos, their carts are pretty small and only have room for 1 child to ride. My kids also love the stickers and/or sucker they get at the end. Employees are always nice and helpful! Also want to note that this location does not sell alcohol. read more

I love Trader Joe's and this location is no different from the countless others I've visited over the past decade or so of them expanding across America. What do I love most? I love the affordability of it. Even with post pandemic inflation, I still find some really great deals here. Sure, things may not be as cheap as they once were and two buck chuck might no longer be two dollars, but hey, things are affordable. I love that every visit is honestly filled with joy because you will find so many little seasonal treasures and still come out at the end spending less than you thought you would. My only real issue with this location is that parking is atrocious, and when it's busy during peak hours it can get extremely crammed inside. To their credit though, the cashiers are always friendly, they always give my kiddo some stickers, and we always leave happy. One thing to note is that if you aren't from here, this location does not sell wine or liquor due to Kansas liquor laws. If you're wanting to snag a great deal on those items you'll want to head to the Ward Parkway store. read more

This TJ's is a tiny treasure, wish I lived closer. Who doesn't love Trader Joe's? The produce is always fresh, and the low-carb game here is next-level--cauliflower-riced everything, eggwiches, parmesan folios, jicama wraps... basically a keto playground. Plus, the cheese section deserves its own zip code. Prices are great, staff ridiculously lovely, and the place is always spotless and welcoming--like they actually want you there. Somehow, I always leave with an emotional support snack I swear I didn't need but now can't live without. 11/10 would spiral here again, no regrets read more

They get lollipops and stickers for finding the critter. Trader Joe's is also my go to store for vegan meals because we have a dairy allergy in the household. OK, I'm not gonna spend a lot of time on this, but I have to give them five stars. Everybody in there is usually working and not standing around. It does amaze me how slow they are at stacking fruit when they're stocking. They have the most interesting wines and some of the need plants in the front of the store whenever I ask for something because it's more of a niche grocery place and I am not familiar with all the healthy stuff out there, someone will always drop what they're doing and take me where I need to go. Checkout time is always an adventure because they make you feel welcome. They employees really make you feel like you're worth something and matter to the bottom line. They're very friendly and engaging which is a lot more than I can say for some of the service people at Price chopper on 75th St. Other companies can learn a lot from spending a day at this location on how customers need to be treated to ensure growth for their company. My wife always goes there for flowers for work for family for friends. This is also where we buy our wine. So whatever your formula is Trader Joe just keep up the good work. read more

Shopping for my groceries here every week is honestly something I look forward to - it's an absolute treat! All of the employees (and I mean ALL) are kind, funny, and helpful! Their selection of fun treats and seasonal items is always rotating so you can find something new to try (ex - ratatouille bites? corn ribs??? Artichoke cupcakes!?!?!?) while also relying on the pantry staples they always have. As a person who is absolutely miserable being in a crowded store with decision fatigue from aisles and aisles of different choices, I deeply appreciate that the store is on the smaller side and only carries their own branded items. I can't tell you how much I love Trader Joe's. It is the best place to find coconut amino's price at $2.99 verses $6.99 elsewhere in the metro area. I have an egg plant chips to come to the Trader Joe's in Leawood because our metro area only has two I wish they would build a Trader Joe's in the Northland. Then I wouldn't have to buy 10 coconut amino's at one time . I kindkind of look like a crazy lady with $30 worth of coconut amino's as I go through the checkout. The store is always welcoming with fresh flowers in plants and delicious looking produce welcome you as you walk in. I love that they have several gluten-free options. My children always look for the hidden stuffed animal to get that lollypop at checkout. The store has a great vibe. read more

I have to suck it up and make the drive every few months they carry a large variety of seasonal items and gluten-free items which is nice for my daughter who has a gluten allergy. My only complaint about this store is that it's 20 minutes from my house. That is also probably a blessing in disguise because I would spend way too much money if Trader Joe's were closer. This location in particular is my favorite because there are almost never lines. I can zip in and out and not worry about standing in line for long periods of time. I am especially thankful for the floral department at Trader Joe's in Leawood, because they supplied all of the flowers for my wedding reception. Listen up, Dorothy. You know how we can tell you ARE in Kansas? It's because there's no liquor at this Trader Joe's. Ha, but you already knew that, dear reader. Thus my amusement in the Yellow Brick Road painting near the checkout stand that I also posted along with my review. That said, yea, I'm pretty much a fan of TJ products because generally they're priced very competitively for the quality, and they carry a few products you won't find anywhere else... like that Umami that is to die for. Then that red salsa that I swear is full of crack it's so good. And their corn tortillas, and a really fine $20 Scotch that's probably a blend but I'll be damned if it's about as good as stuff 3 and 4 times the priced. Oops, that's the Missouri store. OK, leaving that in. Lots of other cool stuff and don't even get near the candy isle. It's deadly. Today, a short line of about 10 people waiting to get in, all distanced apart by markers on the sidewalk leading in. I definitely approve because it was crowded enough inside, and everyone working was extra polite. Now, I actually prefer the Missouri location because it's larger and has liquor which I already mentioned, but this store is just fine and the help was definitely on top of their game today. If you come: don't bring your own bag during the current pandemic, they're not allowing those in. I haven't asked why but it's the same at the Missouri store. Masks required, of course. Dedicated lot parking and there will be someone at the door in case capacity is reached. read more

This store has been on my top three grocery store loves list since it first came to the Kansas City area (Sprouts & Aldi are the other two). I normally go to the original location on Ward Parkway (I like this one best...set-up seems better ), but was near 119th so I made a go of it. Both are usually Uber crowded so expect a zoo. It was just that, but it didn't hinder me from making all of my selections and checking out was fast. As always they were fully stocked with everything so I left lacking nothing. The cashier was as sweet as she could be. In and out was the name of my game. If you haven't shopped here yet & are looking for a nice store with a great organic food selection & decent prices I'd highly recommend them. The choice is yours! read more

We have been coming here for over 10 years. Everyone is very nice and some employees even know my name. Today we had the worst experience. Every time we check out we get a few lollipops for our grandkids. They're free. Today the lady that checked us out, an older lady, Maria was very rude. We asked for a few lollipops and she gave us one, a yellow one. We asked can we have a couple more for our grandkids like orange and red. She threw a red one to us and snatched back the yellow one. Unbelievable. My wife and I did not take any lollipops and left. Did she pay for these lollipops. Is she the lollipop police? So sad. She needs to be managed about customer service. read more

I love Trader Joe's but today I discovered a hidden gem! Let me preface that I LOVE skincare and makeup products. So much that I had to take a detour to Seoul on my way to Vietnam just so I can bring back a ton of K-beauty products. That's how dedicated I am to good skincare. Anyway, on to this review. I'm just reviewing a product they carry. Trader Joe's has several skincare items that actually performs as well as high end products. One of them I bought is the Blueberry and Acai Facial Scrub. OMG! This stuff smells like a heavenly blueberry whipped yogurt for your face. It states that it's a scrub but there aren't as many beads in there as a normal scrub. Actually, there are no beads - just colloidal oatmeal. The magic is in the alpha hydroxy acids that are found in this scrub. So basically, this scrub is a very effective chemical exfoliant. It left my skin so smooth, soft, and smelling like blueberries. What more can a girl want? I do get a chemical peel every few weeks and use a very effective serum of several antioxidants along with Retin-A. This is great to use in between the chemical peels as it is much more mild but still effective in leaving my skin glowing. I've also been playing a ton of sand volleyball this summer so my face has been getting freckles and this will definitely help keep them at bay. Try it out, it's only $5.99!!! I forgot to mention that. It's so much cheaper than most things I use so I'm happy to be saving some money while doing something good for me face. Oh, they also don't test on animals! read more

I really love Trader Joe's. I used live in between 2 locations in Vegas, but now I am a 2 hour drive from this one. Eric R. lured me to drive him to the airport by bringing up the fact that I ran out of my favorite TJ's frozen turkey meatballs. Of course, this was not the only reason to drive my darling other half to the airport, but it partially worked. There are some things from here that I always have on hand (like said meatballs) or try to keep extra when they are seasonal (like the pear cinnamon cider) but when I go this far for groceries with my cooler and ice packs on hand, I also go for the delicious vanilla bean fat free Greek yogurt, many of the wonderful freeze dried fruits and nut mixes (especially the Thai lime and chile), and hard-to-find things like roasted peeled chestnuts. There are always samples, the service is great, and the prices are right. Another favorite I recommend trying is breasola - it is cured beef in style of prosciutto but for non-pork eaters like me, it is wonderful. Pair it with the cave-aged gruyere, arugula, and rustic roll for an amazing panini! read more

I enjoy the good selection of unique products, the good variety of fresh produce, the reasonable prices, and the fast, friendly checkout process. Additional registers are always opened quickly to keep the lines short. It's always a pleasure to shop here. I only wish they also offered wines like at the MO location, but that's a state law issue. I was a Trader Joe hoe in California and I am a Trader Joes hoe here. This Trader Joes is one of the busier stores I have been to so it is often I pop in and am not able to find the usual items but the next time I go, if they have it, I just grab extra. I drive half an hour to go to this store with my 5 year old and my 3 year old so let me tell you its worth it everytime. One of the first times I went there, I purchased green dragon hot sauce and cookie butter. The cashier let me know that they offer free returns in case I was unhappy with any purchases. I only ran in to grab two things so I can't give a full review. The place was paaaaaacked! I knew what I wanted but not where to find it exactly. I was able to find a helpful employee very quickly. He didn't know the location either but ran (literally) and grabbed someone else that did, then followed us both to the location because he wanted to learn for next time where the item was. When we got to the marked location, the shelf was empty. The guy laid down on the floor (without my asking) to be able to look all the way back to make sure they were really, really out. I grabbed some coffee pods and headed to checkout. Every line was packed. Suddenly they opened 2 more lanes and things flowed right through. So I'll say I'm not a fan of shopping in such a mega-busy store, but the quality of the service there made it tolerable. Having grown up in California with Trader Joe's, I was fascinated with the rage about Trader Joe's from all the newbies out here in Kansas who were anxious to go for the first time.
