I have so many ALDI's around my home in Southern California and the first time I have ever shopped at one is when I'm 2,000 miles across the country in Oneonta, New York. I've always heard they have some decent stuff and some prices at ALDI are lower than regular markets. They do have a good variety of stuff, from name brand items to some generic stuff that seems to be a lot cheaper than other places. They also have a decent selection of snacks, fruits and vegetables, and also all types of breads and meats. We were able to load up on groceries that will last a few days and the total price was not too bad. I'm not sure if the prices are just lower here in Oneonta, but I can't wait to go back to an ALDI in so cal and hopefully find the same great deals and values. read more

Out of ALL the stores we have available for us to shop in, we ALWAYS prefer to go to Aldi!! We are pleased with the quality of Aldi's fresh produce and meats, the canned fruits and vegetables are comparable to name brands,, and their weekly specials always include some really cool items!! Only problem I have with Aldi is that the closet one to our home is over 20 miles away!! But, we always make our visit there COUNT!! read more

Reasonable prices. Have your list ready in this order: candy, snacks, cookies, baking goods, cereal, condiments, coffee/tea, milk/yogurt/juice/eggs, canned, dried goods, household goods/toiletries, meat/cheese, frozen, bread... because that's how the aisles are set up and it's a pain to go back. Chocolate is always good. Very high quality. Frozen selection also very good, they have just about everything you could want. Well stocked selection of dried and canned goods. Stuffing mixes are delicious. Tomato sauce is my favorite tomato sauce of all time. Small but decent selection of produce. Condiments are there, but I would skip the ketchup and mayo... name brand tastes better. Toilet paper is really good for the price, not super thin like store brand at other stores. Service friendly, but usually only two registers are open and you have to wait in line. They have a seasonal section that is worth checking out every week. I got a name brand BELL bike helmet, bike lock, bike seat, bike computer, bike lights... for under $10. Wow. I'm still amazed by that deal. If you aren't familiar with ALDI, shopping carts require a quarter to use. When you return the cart, you get the quarter back. Overall, this is always my first choice for everything except produce. Trader Joe's (owned by ALDI) stocks more healthy foods and has a bigger selection of produce, legumes, grains, nuts, dried fruit, cheeses, meats, and vegetarian products. Prices are comparable. This is a great store for your food budget. The prices couldn't be any better and the quality is awesome. I love how they have preservative-free food and organic food. Normally stuff like that costs an arm and a leg, but not at Aldi's. The store could be a little cleaner but that is my only complaint. This is my go-to place for grocery shopping. You can't really beat the prices! They have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to whatever it is you're looking for. I go for their meat sales, because they have the best prices in town. Make sure you have a quarter ready to get a cart and be prepared to wait a little while in line. My only issue is when it's really busy and they only have 2 lanes open and you're stuck waiting in line for 10-15 minutes. Also keep in mind you have to either bring your own bags or buy bags from them to pack up your groceries. It's 10 cents for plastic and I believe 7 cents for paper bags. The cashiers are almost always friendly though and the people working out in the aisles are very helpful if you need help finding something. read more

Great store, often I find some "off" brands that I end up liking more than the big box store "name" brands. For example, I like the "Savortiz" crackers better than "triscuits." The nuts section is super reasonable. You can get many herbs and spices on the cheap, as well. They always have neat specialty items, I have found prosciutto, hummus, goat cheese, etc. LOVE this store. Don't forget to bring your own bags/boxes. :) read more
