Aldi's I needed seeded grapefruit for a fast, and traffic was too heavy to drive to Wholefoods. I saw Aldi's, and figured I would try them out. Pro: *They have a fresh produce section that advertises good prices. *The store is clean, the staff is friendly. The produce section was decent for a grocery store. *The prices were better than Shoprite. I only bought seeded grapefruits. There prices on berries, and other fruits were good. *Bring your pen grocery bags, which I like to help with the environment. *Plenty of parking near the door. Cons: *You will have to pay for a shopping cart. You can get your money back if you return the cart. *If you forget your shopping bag, you will have to purchase their bags. *Only one checkout line, with long lines. Thankfully after waiting 10 minutes, a cashier opened a second line. I would visit them again, if I needed non gmo produce. Overall it was a pleasant shopping experience. My favorite grocery store is Wegmans or Wholefoods. Aldi's is not on the same level but the products, and prices are worth a visit. read more

Did you know Aldi's has pumpkin whipped cream? OMG, so good! I love shopping at Aldi's before the holidays for some of their specialty items. Their German stolen is also nice to have in your pantry to break out for unexpected company who drop by for coffee or tea, which make them feel like you fussed just for them. Of course, I love getting some staples there like eggs, bread, buns,herman chocolates, yogurt, butter, cheese, and their sparkling waters. Their miscellaneous isle is my son's favorite because you never know what treasures you will find. It's fun and sort of hit or miss, but the bottom line it that going to Aldi's once or twice a month to pick up their great store brand staple is so worth it. One recent thing we tried was their marinades and they are really good! Their pecan short bread cookies also rival the Sandies name brand in taste for half the price. All of their dairy products that we tried were excellent, but watch the expiration date on their milk. Not a fan of their bagged salad and their produce is good as long as you use relatively quickly. Their corned beef also is pretty darn good. My husband had thought that their corn beef canned hash was better than hormels, but we haven't seen that on the shelves in a while. I prefer fresh veggies over canned, but having a few cans of their veggies in your panty for winter is a good thing, and they are very reasonably priced. Aldi's house brand pizza is also pretty good and makes for a quick, easy dinner. We always pick up a couple to have on hand. Been trying to eat less processed food but their frozen section has some interesting options. We always find something new to try in Aldi's and overall their house brand don't disappoint. You get good value for your dollar but everyone's taste preferences are different. It's rare that something bought from Aldi's is a total loss so go explore the place if you haven't been, its worth the trip but bring a quarter for the cart. read more

A good friend of mine got me onto Aldi. Ever since going on a low-carb diet, Aldi is a place where I've been able to find some yummy foods and snacks, at great prices. Zero carb bread, cauliflower dip, banana hummus, cold brew coffee. A great alternative to the major supermarket, except they don't have fresh deli or meats; all is pre-packaged/frozen. Easy enough to navigate Aldi. Bring your own bags too! read more

Employees are rude always start closing down 10 minutes early... every employee will scream how they are closing and they do this every time... i'm glad the amazon fresh store is opening up next door and when Aldis goes out if business they will appreciate their customers. read more

ALDI - Long line bc no registers open - Grocery Near Me - Lodi, New Jersey

This place has potential to be a favorite of mine to shop at. They are competitively priced, good selection of the basic meats and other necessities, with randomness and chaos thrown in. The negative...every time I go there are only 1-2 registers open and a packed store, the lines back up into the store which makes it hard to navigate and shop. The checkout system needs to be more efficient and I would come more often. read more

Aldi is quite an interesting place. The experience of shopping at Aldi is something you have to see for yourself. There really is nothing like it. Like its very distant cousin, Trader Joe's, most of what you'll find here are its own store brand, which helps to keep prices low. And continuing with the theme of keeping prices low, you need to temporarily "rent" a shopping cart with a quarter, which you'll get back upon returning the cart to the entrance. And you'll also need to find a way to bag or store what you buy, or else buy the store's bags. Nearly everything at Aldi is low quality and cheap. However, there are a few organic hidden gems that are also priced reasonably. That's what I come here for, and it's more than good enough for me. I just need to remember to bring my own reusable bags. read more

I love aldi's. However every time I go to this aldi I hate it more and more each time. To food quality is good and the prices are right. They even have a great selection. The bathrooms are clean and the store is pretty clean. The first thing I really hate is the odd number of isles. I like to go up and down each isle when shopping to make sure I didn't forget anything but when you do that here you end up at the back of the store and have to walk back or you must skip an isle. This is not major and I am not lazy but brings me to my biggest complaint. This is a food store why do they only ever have like 3 or 2 people on staff and there is only usually 1 check out lane available. After the checkout line is almost half way to the back of the store they will call for help, someone will open another register and check out like 2 people and go back to what they were doing and then the original line backs up again and the cycle continues... so if you have an extra 30 mins to stand on like then go for it. This is my third time here I a row and they ONLY have paper bags available. Do you know how hard it is to carry up a shopping trip of PAPER BAGS up three flights of stairs? If I am paying for these f$@&# bags I should get what I want. And I want the cheap shotty plastic bags that usually rip! I use them to clean out my cats little box. Idk I'm giving those store one more chance next time or else I'm back to Walmart or ShopRite. read more

You can definitely find some bargain groceries here but for me I can't shop here for everything. I have tried some of their chips and crackers which are a lot cheaper and taste normal to me. Have picked up fruits and veggies here as well with decent prices. They only have packaged cold cuts so that doesn't work for me. I am more of a fresh deli sliced girl. Don't forget to a quarter for your cart and bags for your groceries. Check out can be very slow since they never have more that 2 cashiers working. read more

If you like constant out-of-stock products, being rushed and herded through the one open checkout like you are cattle, and the worst customer service in the supermarket industry (except maybe for Walmart)...then by all means...shop at this Soviet Union-style "supermarket". I work too hard to be treated like this during my off-hours. I am not sure why they built more than one register in the store because there is NEVER more than one open, no matter how long the line. It is like stepping into a vision of a dreary, Soviet-style future where there is no choice or selection, and you basically take whatever they have on the shelf. No thank you. I have to agree with those who say that this is a supermarket for people who have no other choice. The selection is non-existent and they have never heard of the word "customer service" This is typical of European businesses. I told the "cashier" I wanted to pay by debit and she ordered me to "insert my card". When I didn't get my debit card out of my wallet fast enough, the cashier barked at me to "insert your card!" Macht Schnell!! I felt like I was in a German workhouse. I barked back for her to "calm down" as I swiped my card. The Germans in charge here must be pressuring the cashiers to herd people through as fast as they possibly can to save every last dime. This is not to mention that there was only one cashier open with a line down the aisle. Is this what shopping in America has come to? There is absolutely NO REASON why Americans would shop at this place unless they had no other choice. People should expect better than this. read more

EDIT I was waiting several months to see what this store was going to be.. when I learned it would be an Aldi I got excited because they said it was going to be at the shop with extremely low prices. They said the point to the store was keeping the running costs low so that you can buy things at a better price. they charge you a quarter for a shopping cart THAT YOU GET BACK AFTER and a DIME for each bag to put your groceries in... The products in the store did not really catch my attention. I generally use organic gluten free and soy free products. This store did not offer anything like that. they were not really many brand names in fact most of the brands I had never even seen in my life before and the brands that I did recognize were on the lower end of the spectrum... Meaning they weren't the best brands in my opinion... I would say this is the kind of store that a college kid on a budget would go to.. I had a $5 of $30 coupon that they sent me for the grand opening and I couldn't really spend it. It was close to Halloween so I basically stocked up on Halloween candy to get through the $30... This review is specifically about the Aldi in Lodi NJ. I've shopped at Aldi for many years in various locations and even out of state. They are usually well organized and clean. This one was too when it first opened but has gone down hill fast. I used to come here all the time since its walking distance from my house but after my last visit, not anymore. I won't be returning. Always under stocked. Unclean. I went to get a gallon of milk and milk was spilled all over the floor, no one cleaned it up. I bought a gallon which made me sick when I drank it. It must have been spoiled. I contacted corporate to express my displeasure with what has happened to this location and never even received a reply. I don't know if this is typical of Aldi but I vowed never to visit another Aldi again when I realized they could care less about a long time customer. I agree the cashiers are unfriendly. One particular one doesn't even say thank you to the customers. Obviously a management/lack of training issue. Too many other options in this area to put up with this lack of service. I will pay a little more to be sure the items I purchase don't get me sick. I would not recommend this location at all. read more

We stumbled into Aldi by accident a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. First off the layout isn't your typical 'jammed to the rafters' supermarket. The isles are wide and the store is spaciously arranged. You unlock a cart by inserting a .25 quarter. You get it back when you lock it to another cart. I've already made .50 by collecting 2 carts from the lot. Everything we bought was 25% less expensive then the Shop Rite across town. I hate that store. I say it everytime I'm in there. Everything is overpriced and there's a armed police officer at the door. Bad vibes. There are many heart healthy versions of their in house brand (escapes me) and they also have many name brands. We bring our own canvas reusable bags - can't tell you how happy I was to see them charging for bags! These things never degrade. You may think they worked out that problem because you don't hear about it anymore, but they haven't. Like everything there is stuff you'll like and stuff you won't but all in all its prices are awesome and selection is great. We found our new favorite supermarket! read more
