I am a big fan of Lidl. I frequent another one that's a bit of a distance away. I work in this area though and so I drive home this route all the time. This is a hot up and coming area of Hackensack, and I had very high hopes for this store that just opened recently. But wow I could not have expected to have my hopes so drastically dashed. The store is so poorly maintained compared to the others I go to. For one thing, it is messy. Lidl is always organized - neat and clean. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the enticing aroma of fresh baked goods yet at that same time the sight of poorly organized piles of sadly wilting fresh produce. There were crushed produce leaves littering the floor, and I had to pick a used plastic bag up off the floor so someone didn't slip on it and go flying. There was a bin of used broken down boxes right next to that before I got to the bakery area. That baking area was the highlight of my visit. It was downhill from there. There were empty and disheveled shelves and displays everywhere. The product boxes were dented and crushed. Many of the non food product boxes were opened or the products out of their wrapping. The place looked so rifled through, it resembled a thrift shop. I realize it might have been busy, and people might be rude, but there weren't crowds of people pushing and shoving through the aisles while I was there. Certainly there was time and opportunity for the staff to straighten the displays and clean up the floor even if there wasn't enough product to restock the shelves. It might also be me but the prices aren't as great as they used to be. Lidl lists the unit prices in terms of per ounce. So $.26 an ounce might sound like a bargain until you do the math and realize it's $4.16 a pound. In most cases, that was far from a deal. I found this to be the case with many things. I actually ended up leaving with nothing at all. In fact, I gave my cart to someone on my way out and didn't even bother to get my quarter back. Hoping these are growing pains and this store ups it game because it is in such a convenient area. But if the prices are really going to be this strange from now on, it's probably not a deal versus the name brands in the supermarket down the block.

This place is GROSS! I've never read Yelps that were more accurate to my experience. The standard,…read more"If I could give this place zero stars, I would" fits. My partner used to come here daily, but is done with the place due to poor treatment from the awful staff. With few exceptions (Goldie), the staff is terrible. They are rude and dishonest. One of them attempted to charge me for an item I brought INTO the store. An item they don't even sell! When brought to his attention instead of a mea culpa, he just brushed it off like it was no big deal. He knew exactly what he was doing and just tried to get over. The store itself, while in a prime location, is a bit rundown. They need to upgrade the coffee machines and coffee service in general. Other 7/11s I've been to recently, have more options and different/newer machines. If you make it early enough, I suggest going to Dunkin across the street for a coffee fix. So, isn't Slurpee what 7/11 is known for? Star of the show, product that put them on the map? Considering it's the signature drink, their Slurpee situation is often out of order! It's like Starbucks sans coffee. And being just a little amusing, they never have the Apple Fritter in stock! Maybe this is a smaller store and they don't have space for every item, but c'mon, the fritter!? They went from being open 24 hours, to closing at one, then 12, oops, I mean "11:45" as I was told one day after walking in around 11:25. Service has gone from decent to, "I don't care if this store closes". Instead, I go to My Deli a bit farther on Grand. If I desperately need a 7/11 only product, I hit the better stocked and staffed store on Tenafly. They always seem to have Apple Fritters!

It's a 7-11, what more can I say? Goldy the cashier was very pleasant. Would stop by again if there…read morewas something I needed, but I'm not going out if my way to return!
