Prices are cheap and selection is average - out of stock on a number of items like scallions, though. Bakery was fully stocked and the apple fritter wasn't bad (smaller than I remember?). On the exit, you have to scan your receipt from the self-checkout area, so keep it out, otherwise you'll be fumbling like I was b/c I put the receipt into my wallet. read more

I have shopped at Lidl since my days when I use to live in the UK and I really love the concept but this location is a bit messy and very poorly managed. A lot of the shelves at this location is messy and checkout is sometimes a nightmare. They usually only have one register open with a long line and when I opt to use the self-checkout there is always an issue that requires help from the staff. The computer doesn't understands how heavy the scanned item should be and thus I can not put it down to scan my next item without it complaining or the payment terminal can't connect. Of course the only person that can help customers at the self-checkout is the one person working at the register so we are all standing there waiting while they also have a long line to deal with. People also don't know you need to scan your receipt in order for the door to open so the alarm is always going off. It's not all bad though, they have a good variety of basic groceries and very affordable prices. They also have sales on items that get me to try interesting products that I normally wouldn't reach for. Their bakery section is pretty decent and cheap. This location is part of a new residential complex with a Wonder Food Hall, Starbucks, and Jersey Mikes. There is ample parking but be sure to bring a quarter with you if you want to use their shopping cart, you will need one to release a shopping cart for use and it will be returned to you when you bring back the shopping cart to their designated station. read more

Lidl - Bakeries Near Me - Hackensack, New Jersey

This is my first time visiting a Lidl, and I'd say it's about half the sz of a Stop & Shop or ShopRite supermarket. I visited the week they opened, so everything was fully stocked, fresh, and there were many yellow tag promotions! The fresh croissants are so good! I'd have to pay $3-4 for one in Manhattan, and theirs is only $0.50 There were at least 2-3 huge crates full of inventory sitting at various aisles, and for a small sz market, it looks like they just don't have enough space for all inventories and the large crates are blocking off inventory. Many of the items are imported, like Trader Joe's , and prices are competitive with each other. I love the options of a self kiosk check out or wait for a staff to ring up your grocery haul. I am not a fan of their shopping cart systems. You will need to insert $0.25 into a gadget mounted on their cart handles to use one. I get that it encourages people to return the carts to their storefront in order to retrieve their quarter back. It's just not in your favor when you don't have that quarter! read more

I am a big fan of Lidl. I frequent another one that's a bit of a distance away. I work in this area though and so I drive home this route all the time. This is a hot up and coming area of Hackensack, and I had very high hopes for this store that just opened recently. But wow I could not have expected to have my hopes so drastically dashed. The store is so poorly maintained compared to the others I go to. For one thing, it is messy. Lidl is always organized - neat and clean. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the enticing aroma of fresh baked goods yet at that same time the sight of poorly organized piles of sadly wilting fresh produce. There were crushed produce leaves littering the floor, and I had to pick a used plastic bag up off the floor so someone didn't slip on it and go flying. There was a bin of used broken down boxes right next to that before I got to the bakery area. That baking area was the highlight of my visit. It was downhill from there. There were empty and disheveled shelves and displays everywhere. The product boxes were dented and crushed. Many of the non food product boxes were opened or the products out of their wrapping. The place looked so rifled through, it resembled a thrift shop. I realize it might have been busy, and people might be rude, but there weren't crowds of people pushing and shoving through the aisles while I was there. Certainly there was time and opportunity for the staff to straighten the displays and clean up the floor even if there wasn't enough product to restock the shelves. It might also be me but the prices aren't as great as they used to be. Lidl lists the unit prices in terms of per ounce. So $.26 an ounce might sound like a bargain until you do the math and realize it's $4.16 a pound. In most cases, that was far from a deal. I found this to be the case with many things. I actually ended up leaving with nothing at all. In fact, I gave my cart to someone on my way out and didn't even bother to get my quarter back. Hoping these are growing pains and this store ups it game because it is in such a convenient area. But if the prices are really going to be this strange from now on, it's probably not a deal versus the name brands in the supermarket down the block. read more

Pretty nice supermarket to come for bakery food. The croissants are fresh, crispy, and cheap. They are like $0.5. So i come here to get a lot of them for energy recharge. Most of the food I get them from Costco warehouse which is couple of blocks away and at a large scale and affordable pricing. I hate that you need to put in a quarter to use the carts and at the end its very very very hard to get the quarter back because the chain very short and I am having a very hard time to get the other chain to connect to get my quarter back. I hope they improve on this one read more

Never been to a Lidl before, so when I heard they open in Hackensack I had to check them out. Bring a Quarter if you want a shopping cart you get it back after returning the cart. First thing about the store when you walk in is the aroma of freshly cook Croissants and Bread done right their in the store. The Croissants and other baked items are buy one get one free. the Butter Croissant was delicious and it was only 49 cents. The store is small, it's 2/3 grocery and 1/3 merchandise. the food items is a mix bag of odds and ends. I could never do my whole shopping here, they don't have enough items . I would go here for the bargains I know about in meat, chicken, eggs veggies, etc and then head to Shopfitter or Stop & Shop to get the rest that I need. BTW: The USS Ling a WWII submarine is next door to the parking lot, it's closed to the public but you can stand next to it and think about the brave men who served our country. read more

I really like your store but the other day i was in "self checkout" which I really don't care for, but there was only one register open and the line was long... so I went to the self check out tried to pay with cash. She said no you have to go on the lone to pay so I waited in line to do self checkoit then couldn't pay with cash then had to go back and stand on the long line for something that was already paid for... You need a better system like she could've took my my cash and just checked me out right away... needless to say I will probably be returning to the other Lidl's where if you have a long line, they open a second register and even a third one if needed... still like Lidls. Just iron out your kinks!!! read more

So disappointed in this new store. Price is missing on shelves, skeleton staff restocking trucks in the middle of the aisle so you can't walk all the way down produce is picked over. This is not the Lidl that I am used to in Bergenfield or Fairlawn. read more
