Aldi is a different take on your typical grocery shopping experience. Mainly, around 85-90% of the products they sell are their own (generic) brand. They do carry name brand stuff (weekly - I assume), but not sure if the particular product is at the store for a limited time. When I visited this location a couple of weeks ago, I saw that they had Honey Nut Cheerios and Coke (to name a couple of name brand items), but again not sure if the items were only there for a limited time.
Speaking of name brand items, if you have a coupon for a name brand item that Aldi's might be carrying at that moment, I want to say that more than likely they may not honor it (but I could be wrong). I know my aunt has been getting a dollar amount off total bill coupon several times over the past couple of weeks, but not sure if it is because this particular location just opened.
If you have never shopped at Aldi's before and need a shopping cart, you will need a quarter in order to get a cart. All carts are stored by the entrance to the store and are locked, per se, to each other and can only be unlocked when you insert a quarter in the gadget on the handle. The quarter is then returned to you at the end of your shopping trip once your return the cart to the entrance. I guess this is to help people leaving carts all over the parking lot and preventing car damage.
One other tidbit about Aldi's - they do not have baggers and do not supply plastic bags like other grocery stores do. You have one of two options - bring your plastic bags from other stores to bag your groceries or you can purchase some of Aldi;s re-usable bags. Again, the employees do not bag groceries - once you check out, there is a counter behind the check out lanes for customers to bag their own groceries.
Also note, I am not 100% sure if credit cards are accepted. I noticed on the sign as we were leaving that Aldi's accepts cash, debit, and EBT (Food Stamps) for payment. read more
