But to find it, I had to do a bit of looking and on the way to the airport , made my driver, Nathan, stop so that i could buy some (along with beans). They have many other items, some of them local, from the pumpkins (can't carry those in a suitcase alas) to sweet pepers and a lot of other tasty delights which are NOT made locally. they are only open until Oct 31, so plan on getting there before Halloween. Actually, it's probably for the best because the salad bar did look delectable and immaculate. So many fresh a clean vegetables! They also have an area with soup and chili, which the staff will also help you with. There are some tables in the salad bar area, so you can sit and eat your food inside the shop. Mostly, though, The Famous Tomato is a specialty food store. Lots of old fashioned candy, hot sauce and barbecue sauce, novelty sodas, so many different flavors of Moon Pies, and random things like salted peanuts in the shell. It's also a little farmers market, so you'll find lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. The Famous Tomato feels like a hidden gem, even though it's right there in plain sight in Speedway. For some reason, I would pass by it and I thought it was a Fazoli's? It's most certainly not, though. It sure beats those pre made bowls from the grocery store. And a great alternative to fast food. They really pack the fruit in the cups and bowls. You get your money's worth. Find them at the farm itself (on US-136 a few miles west of Crawfordsville) or at the Crawfordsville farmers market on Pike Street every Saturday (at least through the end of October...). Their vegetables are sometimes so big it's scary ... as if the farm was built on the site of a nuclear accident! But as far as I know, they grow vegetables the old fashioned way ... with water, sunlight, fertilizer, and love (and not necessarily in that order). This place is yet another hidden gem of Montgomery County. Oh, and I like Valentino and Yusmin almost as much as I like their produce!

The parking lot is large, I usually don't have a problem finding a decent spot. I also like the option between having a regular cart or a smaller car for quick runs, these come in handy when I don't need to buy a lot. I've never had a problem getting a cart from here nor any problems with customer service. A few times I have came, the item I wanted was out of stock. The area of this location is pretty populated, so items can go fast especially on the weekend. I've rarely experienced any problems from the food and groceries I buy here. The customer service line can be hit or miss sometimes with having to wait a long time. I stopped in on a Thursday mid day and they had a Red Bull event vehicle outside playing music. A dj was spinning the tunes. I stopped to check it out and they were promoting Pascal Siakam's Red Bull, had a basketball game for a chance to win a $5 Kroger gift card, and a Photo Booth. The event workers were hype and friendly, so of course I took part in it. The weather on this day was perfect for them to be outside. I visited this Kroger at a good time.

The faucets didn't work ,the floors and toilets were filthy dirty the toilet paper roll was out of the dispenser, there were no paper towels and the hand dryer didn't work. I told the lady at the front counter and she said that there maintenance guy quit and they didn't hire anyone yet. This morning I went there to grab a few things and guess what, the restroom hasn't been touch since first visit. It is totally disgusting. I can't believe how nasty it still is.
