I find that I have to go in repeatedly to find items that I regularly purchase. Most of the staff members are helpful if you can find one to ask a question. However, I have to call out the Manager behind the desk who has been particularly "sour" on the few occasions when I have returned items, and I have noticed this same attitude in her own interactions with staff. I think this affects them negatively as it's hard to get a smile from the checkout folks who just mechanically do their jobs (with one long time employee "Go....a" being the exception). There is no sense at all that they enjoy working at this WF. I purchase bread here and it is good, but the area is usually understaffed. Sometimes, there is a 5-6 minute wait to just find someone to slice the bread. Believe me, I'd much rather shop at WF than TJ's, but the staff members at TJ's are quantum leaps better in terms of their consistent friendly customer relations and service. Having said all this, I will say that this WF location's meat counter and produce staff members are the exception....they are very good and helpful. I actually hope that someone in WF corporate will see this review so that they can do something about the institutional issues at this location.

Sub-degree temperatures didn't deter excited shoppers wanting to be the first to visit the store. The brand spanking' new store is pristine and laid out logically. The produce was fresh and beautiful. I snagged a couple Christmas cacti that were just ready to bloom. I also picked up some of the fresh squash that looked amazing. The wide aisles of the store didn't seem crowded even though there were hundreds of shoppers. There was a nice self checkout with about eight stations, but I used a clerk checkout because she was excitedly waving me over. The staff is super friendly. Prices are great, and seemed lower than other nearby Aldis. Maybe the lower prices are promotional. There is plenty of parking and access is easy from the interstate.

If you're running low on some kitchen stuff, this is the place to pick it up, or if you need something last-minute to pick up on the way home. I do like the fact that their shopping carts are not all over their parking lot like many other grocery stores, and there is more than enough parking. To the contrary, there's a persistent weird odor inside the store that's been there for years. Small thing, but noticeable (and not a thing with other stores nearby). The building itself is a bit old and could be updated. Overall, it is conveniently located, reasonably priced, and all employees are always friendly. Solid choice for shopping.

The clerk, who as watering plants turned and asked if I needed help and I told her the orchids were beautiful. She then told me the story of Beverly Barry, one of the store's founders. The Barry's modeled their stores after European markets, with fresh flowers and produce. Beverly loved orchids. She passed away a few years ago and the store honors her memory with magnificent orchid displays. I love this story. The clerk was passionate and proud of Fresh Market, and for good reason. The produce is beautiful. The bakery display of cakes and pastries is beautiful. The candy display - beautiful. Even the seafood counter is gorgeous. I picked up a number of items including craft beer, European tea and coffee. Oh man, the fresh coffee is soooo good. The chain is out of North Carolina. There is accessible parking. The staff is fabulous. I love this grocery.

But today, I needed ice cream and a few other things that I only purchase at TJ's. I like the quality and selection of the products. Prices are great, too. The fresh flowers are fragrant when you enter the store. They make these mini ice cream cones that are covered in chocolate and taste divine. They are small and the perfect size for me. I like the coffee flavored ones, but they have other flavors more suitable for kids. Today, I also picked up a highly rated Cabernet Sauvignon for cheap. I also like their pizza dough and frozen Asian meals for a quick dinner. This store has a bit wider aisles because the store is always busy. They have plenty of people stocking shelves and checking out. The staff is always friendly. I have to harp on the parking. The parking spaces are too close together and there's high probability someone's going to bang your door. The traffic pattern is wonky and dangerous for pedestrians.
