One cashier today and she was super cold and rude. Didn't say one word to me until I tried using the cart she put all of my groceries in with no bags and told me "M'aam I'm going to need that cart back" in such a rude tone. Luckily, I bought a hamper and stuffed all of my groceries in there. Aldi, either pay your employees enough to where they're not like this to your customers or figure something out. Last came here in 2013 and here I am again today. Freaking line out into the isles, one cashier, I'm here just to buy one thing and people with carts piled up in front of me. People know they don't have bags here yet come unprepared and scramble to get their bags out. August 9, 2015 10:30 I am beyond angry. Just dealt with in incredibly rude cashier. Made a huge scene this morning as well. The cashier, Mahogany was so rude. I could not believe the way she treated my mother and I in front of other customers and made a scene with us like that. Instead of just letting us pay for our groceries, she was fighting us with her pride and proving one of the most stupid points I have ever encountered. They were selling mangoes at 29¢ each. My mother and I picked up 10 and when Mahogany was our cashier, she was incredibly rude. No signs of customer service. I literally have witnesses who were standing behind me that were talking about the situation. She was telling us she put up a sign saying limit 5 PER PERSON. NOT FREAKING 5 per family. I was going to pay for the rest myself. When there was no customers, she got up from her seat, picked up the mangoes and was walking to put them away. I followed her while people were walking towards the register. I told her that I will pay for them. She responds with "I'm not going to fight with you on 29¢." OKAY. THEN DON'T. GEEZ. LET ME PAY FOR THE DANG MANGOES. She goes to her register and LITERALLY throws them on the belt. THROWS THEM. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MINDS THROWS FRUITS. THEY CAN EASILY BRUISE. At that point I was angry and yelling "WHY would you do that?!" And she claims that she didn't when the freaking customer behind me saw her with her very own eyes. Even if i with my mom, I could have easily bought those mangoes. I could say that I'm not her family and buy them. Just because I'm Asian DOES NOT mean that you can assume that I'm associated with other Asian families who shop there. That's racist. She was saying that I was with her which constitutes that I can't buy them. She states that the sign says PER PERSON. I prove that to her and said it doesn't say PER FAMILY. If she didn't want to sell it per family, then she should have wrote that, instead of down talking to me. I am beyond disbelief of her service. read more

ALDI - My receipt for this morning with the most rude cashier I have ever met in my life. - Grocery Near Me - Houston, Texas

Aldi is a little tricky for those who might not be aware of their concept. They do charge a refundable fee of 25cent for using a cart. Basically, you insert a quarter, and the cart unlocks and you have access to using a cart. Then once you're done with shopping and paid for, you return the cart back and lock it, and your quarter comes back out. They also do not provide shopping bags. You can purchase them for like 6c plastic and I think 11c for paper. While their prices are very economical, a lot of their products are generic brand, as in their own brand. So while they might be advertising great savings compared to Kroger or Wal Mart, they are using their own generic brands to compare. I am good either way. They have great sales on fruits, vegetables, eggs, milk and other dairy items. Also meat is usually on sale and they every week they showcase a few vegetable/fruit super sale. They do carry a wide range of products. As far as the negatives, they only have one and sometimes 2 lanes open and thus the lines are long at the cash registers. Plus they only accept cash and debit cards. Absolutely no credit cards, so please be aware of that. I usually have not indulged in any conversations with the cashiers, nor have I received friendly smiley gratitude, but its OK. I try to just grab my necessities and get the heck out of there. After you pay, there is this shelving station with usually empty boxes, where customers can stack their groceries, in the event if they don't buy shopping bags. Just an FYI. read more

Minimalism at its best. This store is perfect for those who don't care about name brands and care about the environment. First and foremost, carts require a .25 cent deposit like some stores in Europe do. This is perfect. When the store can save on having a staff person getting carts from all over, the savings can be passed to us. Furthermore, carts won't damage our cars if they're left at random parking spots. Also, there are no plastic bags. You can either bring your tote bags or purchase inexpensive paper or reusable plastic bags. You have an area after you pay where you can pack your own purchases without being on anyone's way. Please note that their brands are generic. I bought string cheese, a can of evaporated milk, organic almond and dairy milk and two boxes of breakfast bars all for $10. The breakfast bars have no corn syrup nor have artificial flavors and come in a pack of eight. I'm hooked on them. Aldi also carries household items. I bought two nice patio chairs at another location. I found a French chocolate chip brioche and bottled Italian cherries. I only wish they carried yogurt smoothies. I like this no-frills concept and will return when I'm not looking for specific brands of groceries at other supermarkets. read more

I came in here today to get a few things. Its always crowded and 1 cashier. As I was taking my groceries out the basket the tag for the onions came off. Of course it's a knit bag so something will come off. I had the tag in my hand and the lady was like I can't scan that you can go get another one. I felt profile bc who takes a tags off of some damn 3 dollar onions. So i went back to get the same onions so she can scan my onions. Service isn't the best should really work on that and hire people who aren't lazy. read more

This location is one of my favorites to visit. They have a good selection of everything from fresh meats, cheese, produce, and house hold items. I love the great prices, and I have now cut my grocery purchase by a fraction of the cost compared to HEP. I really enjoy coming here, and I might be on the verge of a marriage council considering how often I come here. Lol, make sure to bring your own grocery bags, otherwise they do have free boxes for you to put your groceries in. Remember they charge for paper and reusable bags! read more

To put it mildly, I thought this place sucked. This place is fine if you are going in for a few items, but for a full on, stock-your-frig-and-kitchen grocery trip -- you will not find everything you need. Now first off, I appreciate that they are trying to be "green" by making you rent your cart and bring your own bags. I like that concept. But I did not like how small the store was, or how large the baskets are in comparison to how SMALL the shopping aisles were. It was one big cluster EF when I was shopping. The store was crowded when I went (being because it was the 2nd week they were open I suppose) and there were stockers trying to do their job with lots of customers trying to maneuver around in a tiny aisle. I had fresh spinach on my list, and there was none to be found in the store. They sell freakin' gnocchi, but not fresh spinach. Give me a break. I was not impressed with their produce selection or quality. I much rather prefer a one-stop shopping experience -- especially having kids. I don't have time to drag them around to multiple stores. At checkout, the design is POOR POOR POOR. As the checker rings your items up, there is NO room to bag them. I don't mind bagging my own items, but give me some counter space please! Geez. read more

From bathrooms stuff to pots/pans.. The staff, esp that lady whose always there at night, I don't know her name but she always says hi and helps me out when I want to find something. Maybe I'm not so hip, as I can't get over the cart thing. I agree it's a brilliant idea to cost save by not having a cart wrangler thus passing the savings to us via lower product cost. But I'm completely turned off by it in practice. Walking up with a baby, yea I know it's do-able, but I'm lazy and don't want the extra step. I want a cart to just be ready, and I'll pay slightly more for that convenience, or should I say, standard. Debit or cash only. Okay, fair enough, who doesn't at least have a debit card? The cost cutting is abundantly clear, I get it Aldi, but you don't have to make me feel so cheap though. And I'm just not impressed with their selection, at all, and especially not the lay out. It felt like a cheap IKEA (oxymoron) and gas station combined, minus the service and the shopping cart (like i was going to do it...I'd rather hold my baby). This place is very polarizing I guess. Extremely reasonably priced fresh veggies and fruits. Bananas, milk, avacados, eggs....this is the place to buy them. They also have higher end items like capicola, prosciutto, Brie cheese, etc. They only take cash or debit card so come prepared. Also, make sure you bring a quarter as you will need it to use the carts. They are not free to use (this helps keep prices down since they don't need to hire someone to push carts back in). read more

I have become a frequent shopper here and I happened to like the place BUT...This last time I went the checker did not greet me. I am not trying to make friends here but I am another human being inhabiting the planet here and I would like the common decency of recognition that I am alive, especially when I am handing over my money that helps keep their job!!!! Debit cards accepted, not credit cards. Bring your own bags or u can buy one for 6 cents. I have tried ALOT of the brands in this store and all but the laundry soap was excellent quality and taste. The $5.99 take and bake whole pizza ROCKS!! Overall, I LOVE ALDIIII!!! I shop here weekly and yes the checkout process is special BUT I like the fact that the store is small and I have adapted to buying pantry snacks, produce, breads, frozen foods, and dairy. The weekly deals will run out so if you see something you like in the "stuff" aisle as I call it, BUY IT because it wont be there next week. read more

Ok I get it Aldi may not be for everyone but compared to the prices you get at Walmart or HEB I'll gladly shop here any day. It does cost .25c for a cart but you get your quarter back once the cart is returned. I loved the idea when I first tried Aldi. It saves the parking lot of shopping cart clutter! The store is small but it literally has what you need. All of their products are their brand so you won't find Cocoa Pebbles or Fruit Loops here. But I have not had a bad product from them. Produce is way cheaper than you'd find at other stores which is a plus for me because we go through a lot of fruits and veggies in my house. Milk and eggs are a steal at about .88 for a carton of eggs and 1.99 for a gallon of milk. They do have almond and soy milk too btw. :) The only thing I would say is a bit pricey or about the same as other stores is the meat selection. A tip from me would be to bring your own bags since their plastic shopping bags are .10 and their paper bags are .6. They only take debit cards but no credit. Aldi's is definitely a different shopping experience but you can't compare it to the money that you will save. read more

When you come to shop here, remember that you'll need a quarter for the cart. You can also use you're own shopping bags. At check out, paper (6 cents) and plastic (10 cents) if you want them. :) You can really see the price difference in the produce. There is not going to be everything that you're looking for, but you may be able to find some or most of what you're looking for. The store was a little small for me. Overall, it was ok. I want to start off by saying I've never ever as long as I shopped at this location has had a problem with this location until yesterday my experience with this location was absolutely horrible and it was due to the cashier name Megan she was very rude extremely rude very upsetting towards me it was just the most horrible experience ever and top it off I was so upset I went completely out my character something that she probably enjoyed which is so unlike me I felt bad afterwards but it was so unprofessional of her as I begin to leave the building she got smart and I'm like this is just extremely unprofessional so I had to ask a manager for the corporate number which I called and it was no number to get in contact with the actual corporate so I googled and I did get in contact with corporate and I'm hoping that they do take actions with that young lady I do not wish her to lose her job but someone needs to speak with her so this will not happen to another customer because she was extremely rude so if you do go to this location please look out for the young lady by the name of Megan she is very rude but on a brighter note I did go to another location and with the situation that I had with that young lady Megan I asked the supervisor and he completely helped me it wasn't a problem with my transaction I was able to purchase my complete order that that young lady gave me a hard time with he had no problem with doing it he said that he's never heard of that particular thing happening to a customer before that it was untrue on what she was saying it was just crazy but I was blessed to find that particular location I will be shopping there for now on read more

This place is pretty neat. I like their fit and active brand. Very reasonable prices but don't expect the store to be filled with name brands....you will find a few though. Yes, you do have to pay 25 cents for a cart but you will get your quarter back. You will want that cart because you're definitely going to need it. Bring your green reusable bags to carry your groceries as well. I wasn't expecting this but they have a good selection of cheese. Give this place a try. read more

I LOVE ALDI!!! I am from up North so I have experienced Aldi before! Yes you do need a quarter that you get back ... boo hoo! Maybe if you want name brand items you can't fill your home with food from here ... but I am about the dollar amount and YES I CAN and I HAVE stocked up ... I love this store and their workers. I go shopping here at least once a week. Most of their products have a good similar taste to your favorite name brand products. It doesn't cost much to try it out here. Their eggs are always super cheap and so is their bag of fresh spinach & salads. (1.79) A good size bag and very green! I always buy their ground frozen turkey meat (1.89 Ib). Honestly, hubby works in the oilfield industry and sometimes our budget for groceries is $30 for two people. I was worried that I was going to be eating bland food but we come out of this place with our basics (and a plus when all are basics are on sale). We not only save money but I am able to make delicious meals at home for my little family. I am so grateful for this grocery store and their sales and amazing prices! read more

I am just crazy about this store. Living in Clear Lake my first visit was at the Pasadena store 5 miles away. Being a Dutch American I was thrilled to death that they carried Dutch Windmill cookies. We call them Speculas. Even thou German made they were excellant. None of the stores in Houston From Krogers to HEB have these. Infact the only cookie that comes even close was Vortmans round Spice cookie, which was discountinued 6 years ago. I love the German and Dutch cookies that they carry plus the chocolates Aldi carried for the Holidays. i just got back from the Webster Aldi to pickup 4 packages of their Stroopwavels/Caramel Wafers. I am all about saving a dollar and good quality. If you don't like something you can bring it back get something to replace the item and get your money back. Today was my first time I went to the store as I've heard good things about Aldi I've decided to stop by and give it a chance; So I grabbed a few things I needed for the house everything ok until it was time to check out, the cashier name printed on my receipt (Odalys) was very very RUDE, it all started when she was scanning the items to put them in the cart she was actually throwing them without care, literately just tossing my merchandise items, I was shocked with her behavior so I've said to her "excuse me could you please do not toss my merchandise?" and she said to me "oh its ok thats what we have to do, besides if something gets damaged we can go get you another item" she continued tossing my items into my grocery cart; so this time I've told her "Excuse me mam Please stop tossing my items... You need to Stop now" by this time she had already finished scanning all the items. My wife asked her if there were any bags to put them groceries in and she said "No we don't use bags you either have to bring your own or purchase the ones we have for sale" we Didn't know because she never offered us any option all she did was toss my groceries in the cart without totally careless, so I've told her this is the first and the Last time I purchase anything at Aldis. I can tell you that I was Shocked the way the cashier had no customer service being totally RUDE Yet on your website you have this (Incredible courtesy every day.) this place changes the concept of supermarket. it's small because you know what? a supermarket doesn't actually need to be that big. normal supermarkets are big so that you will spend more time in them, wandering the aisles, often half-lost, and buying things you don't need. so you don't waste time wandering around looking at a million different products for the same item. quality food, limited selection, only the good stuff, and produce is seasonal. if it's not in season, you ain't gonna get it. grow up. very happy with this place. read more
