I like this store. They have great prices on eggs, milk and everything! It is clean and well organized. I would recommend it to a friend.

Bobby's Frozen Custard - Bodacious with Vanilla Custard

What an absolute disappointment last night. Bobby would be very upset to see his beloved custard…read moreshop in such disarray. Dirty floors, dirty counters. I watched an employee take a trash pickup tool and move it, then without washing her hands, she scooped custard. . They also changed many of the favorites. The strawberry shortcake is no longer Krutas (big mistake). The nutty bar concrete: they used a few pieces of nutty bar and added in peanut butter and hard shell. I assume it cheaper and it was gross. I didn't finish it. I've given Bobby's a 2nd and 3rd chance. I think I'm done. When I pay $7 for a regular concrete, it should be made as Bobby had created when he owned the place. Sad.

Bobby's offers two different sizes of Banana Splits and I went with their small. OMG, it was huge. I couldn't eat all of my small, so I cannot imagine what I would have done with a large. Their split was a traditional split. It had three good sized scoops of their famous vanilla custard covered in, Hot Fudge, Pineapple and Strawberries. It was then topped with, whipped cream, a sprinkle of crushed nuts and crowned with maraschino cherries. After enjoying my split, I had to go back up to the order window and get my first Caramel Apple of the season. If you haven't had one of their apples, you gotta try them. I always go with the Caramel Pecan. I may try the M&M one this season. If you cannot make it to Maryville, they sell Bobby's Apples at local Schnucks and Dierbergs. The apples usually are in the produce department. Staff is fantastic. They are super sweet and friendly.

However, the people of Edwardsville still love Teaspoons, because it was packed. Things that disappointed me on my last visit that made me decide to take a star away: They are now serving Kaldi's Coffee a STL roaster. I think it is a shame that they are not supporting one of the many local roasters on the Illinois side of the river. Was disappointed that their iced coffee lids were not sip lids. I prefer them, because I am not a fan of straws. I know some people need or prefer straws, but I like the option of not using one. Save the Turtles. Biggest disappointment was my food. I ordered the Breakfast Platter. My scrambled eggs were fluffy and hot and made fresh. They were very good. The English Muffin was also good. It was obvious it was freshly toasted, because the whipped butter spread and melted easily. The disappointments were the bacon and potatoes. Both were cold and tough. It was obvious that both sides were prepared ahead of time. The bacon did have good flavor, but it was chewy and rubbery. My potatoes were on the burnt side of preparation and cold and chewy like the bacon. Damn, when I've ordered this before it was good, not this time. I will at least say, the service and customer service is still good and consistent with what I've had before. Which actually saved them from getting two stars.

Even though I am thrilled to have one on the IL side of the river, it's a half hour drive to enjoy. The other day I was running errands and shopping in Edwardsville. I made it a point to do it around the lunch hour, so I could enjoy an calzone. I ordered at the counter as you do and lucky for me, the cashier was patient with me. As I ordered, I kept reading the menu and changed my mind two times and finally stayed with my third choice. Having a love of jalapeños, Pancho Villa was my final choice. Pancho Villa not only gave my fresh jalapeños, it was also filled with red peppers, smoked cheddar, Mozzarella and the meat was Chorizo prepared in Smoked Chili Oil. Yum-Yum and no heartburn. For dipping or spreading on top, I was given a cup of Queso. One nice thing about SOTS, is they offer adult beverages. They have an excellent selection of local craft beers and wines to pair with your calzone. I paired mine with, Pale Ale from Schlafly. The dining room is clean and crisp. It's done in an industrial style. They have regular tables and a few hightop tables, so you can choose which one is best for you. On the tables you'll find linen napkins with reusable flatware. If you can eat an entire calzone, I am impressed. For those of us who cannot, next to the soda machine is a stack of eco-friendly to-go boxes to put your leftovers in, to take home.
