Every time I'm in the store, folks are always smiling and helpful. Whether it's the baked chicken or something from their griddle for lunch, the prepared food does not disappoint. And their meats from the butcher are phenomenal, pork or beef. Our go to right now is the chicken kebabs. Obviously they don't have the selection that others in the area have, but you're supporting local as opposed to the millionaires Schnuks, or Deerburgs. I've been coming here for a long time, I don't know why I've never done a review! I love this place. The people are always super nice and helpful. It's half garden supplies and half grocery store. They have an awesome butcher shop with great steaks! This time I noticed they have a new deli area, at least it was new to me! It looked great. I actually come here for the garden side. This visit I came for straw bales for my backyard. With two dogs and rain, our yard turns into a mud derby and I was about to come unglued over the mess! We bought three bales and they were only around 7 bucks each! I love coming here in the spring! They always have tons of gorgeous plants! So I'll be back in the spring, but for now I need to go take care of a mud/dog problem before I pull all my hair out! read more

If I could give Market Basket in Edwardsville, IL zero stars, I would do it. I shop there often, even though their prices aren't competitive with the big chains. Usually fast and courteous. Just went. The deli and meat counter employees are nor wearing masks. Bad enough half the customers don't. I asked the guy in the deli (I wanted something) why he wasn't wearing a mask. "I don't want to!," he snarled. "It's not mandated anymore! And I don't want to get political!" I told him it wasn't all politics with me. It's very personal. I have several preexiting conditions. This place is great. Fantastic fresh fruits and vegetables (although I wish the selection were larger), very friendly staff, and one of the best meat counters/butcher shops in the area. Their meat selections are great and often priced below the super market chains. Great sausage and steaks. And - Lowes, Target, and Home Depot take note - There is NEVER a wait at checkout! I actually found cheaper products at Dierbergs. It makes me wonder what the purpose of a place like this is. The produce isn't local. I don't know what we would do without this place. We run here a couple times a week when we don't have something we need to make dinner or when we need last minute dinner. The meat department is wonderful and reasonably priced. We think they have the best chicken prices in town. The burgers loaded with cheddar and bacon and the cheddar brats are our go to items. Service people are rude and snobby. Produce is not local and rarely fresh or of good quality. Chicken salad is outrageously priced and apparently made from the old leftover roast chickens. Frozen food is usually frostbitten. No one offers to help in gardening. Prices are high. Whoever is writing these glowing reviews clearly has family and friends in the business. read more

Market basket is the best place to work, shop for groceries and get landscape essentials and advice from. The staff has always been knowledgeable and friendly. My family and I have been customers since the '80s and I worked there in the 90s. We have moved to Texas and haven't found a grocery landscape store that comes even close to the quality of Market Basket in Edwardsville. I have to give this place five stars for the most amazing coffee in town (better than coffee shops), Goshen coffee. I no longer am satisfied with my five dollar expensive coffee habit. I have to have the Goshen Italian blend every day. I would also give them five stars on their sandwiches. They make them in the deli to your liking. The Brandy Roast Beef is AMAZING! We love Market Basket, and when we're in town we shop here frequently. The produce is excellent, the service is excellent, and you can get all your basics here rather than at a gigantic chain supermarket, along with a really nice selection of specialty products. Was able to get 3 ball architectural trees for less than $30 each. Clean, cheerful environment.

The DELI department is great. They make one of the best sandwiches around called the Italian Boss. They will make, prepare or cut anything you want. And couldnt be friendlier. read more

I originally purchased 2 trees in fall 2012 from Market Basket. I paid to have them put in the trees as well. In spring 2013 one of the trees did not make it. I went to them and they offer a replacement of the tree but NOT the fee to install the tree. I decided to purchase the same tree and add another one. I ended up paying AGAIN another 80$ to install the now dead tree and another 100$ for the new tree to be installed. Now keep in mind the trees I am putting in are fairly large and require a loader/backhoe to move. Yesterday (5/21/2013) the Market Basket folks came and installed the two trees. When I came home there was no instructions left, no receipt, no anything. One of the trees is quite tall and with the wind was really leaning and the base of the tree was coming out of the ground. I saw this and called Market Basket where a nice enough girl listened to me. "When the guys put in the tree they either did not plant deep enough or stake it" Girls response- "we sell staking kits and that costs extra". AN EXTRA COST!!! I was not too thrilled to hear this, I just paid a nursery to come to my house and put in trees. This is not my first time in a store doing such a thing. After emailing the Manager and exchanging dialog, they were more than helpful in coming back out to my house and fixing the tree. They even staked my tree at no additional cost due to the inconvenience. I really like to support my local economy and try and get to know the local businesses. Its nice to see that Market Basket takes care of its customers. Thank You! read more
