I walked about 1.5 miles each way to get to Tom thumb after struggling to find a supermarket near my hotel. I'm glad I took the walk. The Primo Taglio Carver turkey is really good, the employees super friendly and the outdoor seating is a pleasant place to sit and send LOTR memes to my friends on Instagram. I enjoyed the turkey so much that even when it froze later in my unreasonably cold hotel mini fridge, I still made a sandwich and ate with relish (the sensation, not the condiment). I guess what I'm really trying to say here is that in the bleak, anxious days leading up to a grappling tournament, when you are worried about your weight and life stresses seem amplified, Tom thumb makes a great hotel turkey that takes the edge off.

Half of them were dropped previously and being sold at a discount and the other half looked just as bad. The cakes looked the same. The cakes not with the regular cakes and cupcakes looked sooooo much better. So I chose the 12 cupcakes+2inch round option as it looked great. We got to the restaurant and pulled them out and ate them and good to the lord they were SOOOOOOOOO sweet. On a level of 1 to 10 with 10 being straight up sugar cubes this was a 15. None of us could even eat a whole one. So needless to say this was a disappointment. I will stick to my usual grocery store chain to get my cupcakes from now on. This one was a bust.

Very good grocery store. We've recently shook up our grocery practices, having been in a sort of…read moreKrogers trance for a decade or so, going out of habit to the one near us since it was new. But it's been in steep decline and with the arrival of HEB to the area, we woke up and are examining the grocery landscape we've been blind to. We since have been coming here and we are very pleased! For starters, this place looks immaculate, totally spotless, so orderly and neat it's amazing. We even said "this place is roughy the same age as the Kroger up the road and this proves Kroger has no excuse to look so dilapidated, when THIS is possible in roughly the same area". It's so orderly, I couldn't help but even straighten up the voids I made in the products as we shopped like I worked there! Haa! I just respected it, you know? Anyway, the prices are on average a bit lower too, some by a lot! I believe the reason is they don't dabble in the annoying point system or the apps to try to hook shoppers into a "marriage" of sorts the way everyone does these days. To not even try to game shopper's behavior or try to track them at all they don't have to invest in it, so everything is straightforward and they have a lower overhead. I LOVE it. I'm done with having Kroger hook me into buying gas from them in a loop of trying to get the most out of points nonsense. Winco is the simple old way and I've missed it (and a little annoyed at myself for missing out all these years, but no more)! The checkout is great, staffed far more "human" than Krogers, and even have the choice in paper/plastic to optimize your sacking. The employees straight-up seem frankly happier to be there, and authentically, not robotically acting out a script. A nice bunch. They surely must be to actually try as hard as they do and it shows by just looking around. I could go on and on, we were very analytical about our "change-over" and we doubtless will be checking out HEB when they finally open, but regardless how good they are too, Winco has TOTALLY won us over and we will be coming back here regularly for good! Thanks, Winco!

This is like the best kept secret in South Fort Worth. I'll explain. It's like a breath of fresh air. You walk in and it's so colorful with a greeting from an assortment of fresh pastries. There's a variety of everything and everything is stocked well. Theres a restaurant that sells 3 Tacos and a drink for $5 inside. There's also large Picnic tables to sit down. I purchased three mini Tampico drinks , a dozen Flour Wheat Tortillas and a bag of Shredded Cheddar Cheese for about five Dollars. It seemed like there was one register open, of course. The customer at the register before me was having a difficult time scanning his payment. The customer behind him was friendly stating he liked a certain brand of Tortillas. The line grew quickly with like five people behind me. Smh. However, it started moving quickly. They have a vendor in the lobby that sells Stanley cups for $25.00. He was really nice. He had his music turned up loud! He lowered his music to speak to me then when I was done speaking, he turned his music back up! Lol. Well, this was quite a nice surprise. I loved the Bargains I found. I will be back. Next time, I wanna have more time to shop the entire store! See you at El Rancho!

Getting to the commissary is a little confusing since it's all the way back in town, but once you get to the main gate and show proper ID to get base access, it is very easily accessible. There is a large parking lot for parking, and this place isn't usually crowded like the other bases in the states. Due to the fact that it doesn't get too crowded, the hours are adjusted accordingly to accommodate the staffs operating hours. They basically have everything you need when shopping at a store at a lower price and, of course, tax-free! I will admit some items are cheaper out in town and then again some isn't so it's all how you shop and bargain. I will say you can't beat the deals on meats like chicken thighs, wings, and pork. As for the produce, I will admit that out in town is definitely cheaper. They also have the commissary brand named " Freedom," which is their generic brand, and they usually have great deals on those items as well. Even with the commissary prices and no tax here, some of these great benefits of shopping here won't leave a dent in your wallet. There is a small service charge fee you will notice on the receipt, but it's nothing big.
