Yes Aldi has the best prices around; however, at this particular Aldi location the low prices aren't worth the horrendous shopping experience. I've shopped there both weekends and mid-week and the experience is the same - terrible. The store is filthy; it's serially un or understocked; every time I'm there, they only have 1 non-self-service register open AND multiple self-service lanes out of service; the staff, obviously, take no pride in their workplace, else it wouldn't be so dismal. I went shopping on May 14, 2024 and didn't realize I had purchased an expired product. Innocently, I gave it to my family, and the next day I noticed that the product was turning green and I was so scared that I went to the store to fix it. The manager Ricky took care of me and he was rude, dismissive and rude and rude, he just changed the product for me. After that, I called customer service to let them know what was going on at this store and they put me in touch with regional manager Campbell, who told me she would take care of the matter herself. Today, May 17, 2024, I went to the store again to make my purchases and I got the same product with the same expiration date (May 13, 2024) shown for people to buy, and it was not one, it was several expired products . . The Aldi grocery stores are popping up, left and right, and I'm glad another one arrived in the Baileys Crossroads area, behind Bamian. Before you start hating, just note that this grocery chain is sisters with Trader Joe's! The grocery carries limited brand names, mostly generic/Aldi-produced food items, as well as other specialty items. Prices are great - I am a fan of their baking ingredients (such as the cake mixes, sprinkles, and the frosting), their soft cheeses, and their nice selection of produce. I feel as if the veggies here are more fresh and more of a variety. The only gripe is that this place gets busy, and the plastic bags for your meats/produce run out quick. Also, if you're OCD, just remind the cashier to place the items carefully into your bag/cart. Don't forget to bring your reusable grocery bags (as you would have to dish out a few more cents for the store's plastic ones). I went to aldis to do some grocery shopping. Stumbled upon some waffle cones and decided to buy ONE pack. I emphasize the ONE because when I came home and checked my receipt I realized I was charged for not one... not two... but ELEVEN waffle cones! It seemed that my cashier charged me for 10 at once, charged me again then voided it then ended up charging me yet another time! Perhaps she was confused and wanted to charge me $1.59 for each cone that was in the box???? My grocery bill was $15 more than what I purchased. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Aldi is really great, but you do have to understand how it works and appreciate what it is, or it can be a turn off to new customers. - Bring a quarter for a shopping cart. You get the quarter back when you return the cart. It's just a way to help ensure people police themselves by putting the carts away. - Bring your own bags. You can buy bags, but that really erodes into the savings of going there. - Be ready to pack your own groceries. - Aldi is not a full service supermarket. I usually go to Harris Teeter for certain things (better selection of fresh produce, fresh fish, and usually fresh beef and pork. With that out of the way, there are seroius bargains to be had at Aldi. I either go there before going to Harris Teeter or go to Aldi once every few weeks to stock up on certain things that can last more than a week. Aldi's can good and frozen vegetable prices are amazing and much better than most supermarkets even with sale prices. Aldi's bread selection is a very good quality even though they do not have an in-house backery. I'm not sure how they do it, but for example, I buys baguettes and freeze them but when I take one out and warm in the oven it tastes really fresh. Multigrain sandwich bread is very good quality and much cheaper. Also, check out their dark breads and flat breads to make pizzas. As others write, produce is hit or miss, but I've gotten really good bargains (and high quality) on seasonal items such as squash, cherries, and even mangoes. Nuts are also a bargain and very good quality. They carry peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, etc. Meat is hit or miss, but they sometimes have a special on things they don't normally carry such as lamb for really good prices. I usually buy dairy products including lactoid milk and yogurt for much better prices than the grocery. Aldi sometimes carries name brand products and paper products, but I suggest you steer clear from them. They are almost always markedly higher than the big supermarkets. Finally, I generally buy our everyday wine at Trader Joe's but with a little experimentation, you can find some real hidden treasures at bargain prices. Aldi definitely has its quirks and is not a full service supermarket, but if you know what to buy, the quality and prices are really VERY impressive. read more

Seems if you happen to be white customers and staff make JR impossible to purchase anything. Staff treats you as those you are not in line and you are skipped over. As for customer era they put their carts in line while they are STILL SHOPPING. This is my first Aldi shopping trip in Virginia, although I have shopped some in PA. This location is relatively new. It's large and crowded. I really didn't buy produce -much of it looked questionable-but I bought much of what I typically buy at HT or Giant for significantly less. $0.99 for cumin?! $3.19 for organic milk?! $8.28 for 5 freaking pounds of chicken?! There are some great finds here; however I know with some specific needs of my household, I can't do all my shopping here. I had my mind blown when everything I bought was $41!! I'm glad I finally tried Aldi out (at the urging of a friend) and I definitely plan to shop here in the future. read more

Not a good time. I preordered a curbside pickup- when I arrived I parked in the designated spot and checked in on the app. I waited for THIRTY minutes and no one brought my order out. I tried to call the store but there was no direct number online. At this point I took myself and my toddler inside to ask someone for some assistance. I notified an employee and told them what was going on. They assured me they would be right out with the order and they directed me back to my car. I was working on getting my kiddo back into his seat when our order was finally brought out. The employee loaded it into my car and headed back inside without a word. After securing my kiddo in his seat I went to the back of the vehicle to shut the hatch and I noticed that over half my items were missing. I again brought myself and my toddler back inside to ask for assistance with the issue. The first employee I spoke to pawned me off onto another employee and they then called a manager. It took them a while to find the rest of my order. After they found my order- the manager tried to hand me the full box, while I was also holding my toddler. I asked him if he would bring it out to my car since I originally was there for CURBSIDE PICKUP. After some hesitation the rest of my order was finally brought out to my car. Annoyingly defeats the purpose of curbside if I HAVE TO COME INSIDE. If you go here, maybe don't do curbside pickup and definitely don't ask for any additional assistance. Ridiculous. read more

After going through the process of having the money sent to Secret Service, which is what they told me at Apple FCU, I went back to ALDI and they sent me back to Apple FCU with another $100 after going through some verifications. The produce, for the most part, is always fresh, and the price is right. New Aldi opened mid September 2019. It is so much closer than others. It is next to, but back from road the KFC. Large parking, good. I put my quarter in to get my cart, realize I have to use restroom and park my cart hidden behind a partial wall. The ladies room has one handicap stall, and that is it. Most grocery stores offer 2 stalls. I come out and someone has made off with my cart. SERIOUSLY? There is a cashier nearby and I ask if that is my cart near him and he said no, and said people take carts all the time, kindly gave me a quarter to get another one. Okay, back out and in. A woman with a toddler that screamed the entire time I was shopping had entered store. Thought...am gonna need Advil if this keeps up. It was is a smaller Aldi than most. Fully stocked but smaller (so that screaming filled the entire store). Produce section and wine section noticeably smaller than other Aldi's, frozen section was comparable. The Aldi special finds also seemed smaller and not at all interesting, less kitchen items than usual. Checkout was super fast, yay! Although new they brought in trained staff, yay. I leave and put my cart in the hookup line. I realize I did not take my quarter but a woman had already taken my cart while I was standing there and she did not bring a quarter. Obviously the Aldi cart method is unknown or unliked. Neighbor is a bit sketchy, cop car in the lot. Yeah I do not see myself coming back. They DID have low carb bread, which other stores have problem keeping in stock... maybe come back for that but otherwise no. read more

She called me an Asian bitch after she cut thru line got front of me while I was in line and keeping my social distance from the customer front of me. She came out no where start putting her stuff and told excuse me there's a line she said I'm in hurry im not gonna wait for slow ass! I told the cashier he heard everything I asked him to call the store manager! He didn't do anything! He should've told her to get back in the line! But no he didn't do anything. I have been ordering for pick up -- and paying to have it pulled. I get it. What I don't get is that in addition they are consistently charging more for each item than is listed in the advertising flyer. If they want to gouge me twice for ordering through pickup, I guess that's there prerogative. They should just say so in big letters: we are charging you more for the groceries AND we are charging you to have the order pulled and brought to the car. I'd rather pay a little more for pickup than get a hidden surcharge. I have loved ALDI but this makes me feel as though you are not living up to your commitment to be honest. read more

Came here for the first and last time with the boyfriend yesterday. It was fine, standard low budget grocery store. Not a huge selection but I do like a good bargain and they had some. Didn't know about the shopping cart requiring a quarter- we had a quarter but found it lame-- would've been cool if they at least had little hand held baskets as an alternative. Generously giving two stars because while at checkout, there was a raw chicken leaking profusely all over the conveyor belt, no one cleaned it up, just let it roll right along and back through the table. I've read so much about Aldi, so I finally stopped by to check it out. I was very disappointed. The produce was wilted and rotting. The blueberries were covered in white spots, the bell peppers were so old that they smelled pickled, the strawberries looked so soft. I was disgusted. I did buy some avocados, they were the only thing that seemed in good condition. I didn't bother with the rest of the store bc the produce was awful. --Don't waste your time getting groceries in this new store. Visited late morning on a Wednesday. Not very crowded and only one checkout line was open. As usual, the checkout person THREW all items into the basket, including tomatoes, which I had asked her to place gently - I understood her response to be "they'll probably be ok." --The shelves on one of the aisles were completely empty. The store had NO hams (1/2 or whole) - a huge empty area where, theoretically the hams could have been placed. --For inexplicable reasons, different varieties of nuts were placed in different locations throughout store. --Six of the food items advertised in the store's ad circular were not in the store. --Recommend going to the large Aldi in Annandale or the Aldi on Van just west of 395. read more

Place is new. I like how they don't give out plastic bags and you have to pay to use the shopping carts. The carts aren't dumped all over the neighborhood streets, like carts from other stores. They don't seem to employ enough people to keep the aisles stocked. They could do a better job, especially with the produce and in keeping the floors clean. There is no reason for dirty floors.
