I've since found this to be a great stop for local dairy milks, wood, pumpkins, fresh veggies, seasonal mums and pumpkins and lots in between. I try to shop as much as I can at a store that's non big box store. This store understands on how to earn a customer, not just a sale. When u buy from small business you help put food on the table, the owner will pay their share of local business taxes into the community. When u buy from a big box store u help a CEO from a big box store buy his third yacht.

Now, before I'm accused of being totally draconian here with my 1 star reduction, let me emphasize that this isn't a one time thing. Nearly every single time I get a carton of eggs from Whole Foods, it is almost guaranteed at least one or two eggs will be inexplicably glued to the carton. This is a problem for SO many reasons. Though, for the sake of brevity, I'm gonna list two of them. 1.) It's damn near impossible to extract the egg out of its pocket without inevitably destroying the shell, thereby obliterating any chances of enjoying a tasty breakfast. 2.) Even IF you somehow manage to liberate said egg from its inherent captivity without destroying it, you'll ostensibly have to deal with the remnants of egg carton pieces that remain glued to the outer shell. My pro life tip for the second reason is to hard boil the egg so that you may avoid any chances of carton bits mixing in with an otherwise raw egg yolk once you crack it. And, so far as I know, no - you can't just wash it off. Because it's glued. Again, WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS?! I'm not sure if it's only this location that has this problem or if ALL Whole Foods stores are shipping their eggs with a few of them totally immobilized inside their respective pockets. It's like they were totally petrified of the idea that MAYBE the eggs would somehow escape the carton and break. Well, NUTS to that, since I usually end up breaking them regardless when trying carefully to extract them out of their cemented position. So, yeah....that, combined with the fact Whole Foods' hot bar has also somehow gotten worse with time instead of better, I find myself regressing my rating back to where I originally had them. It's still a wicked good place to get a few select items here and there. But these two REALLY annoying anomalies compel me to give Whole Foods on Amherst 4 immovable eggs out of 5.

(2) 365 brand of organic pumpkin seeds are from CHINA! I have 10 years experience living in that country and I can tell you that the USDA has no authority to do anything there but to ask for their "word" to tell them that it is organic. I'm shocked that WF thinks we are all so stupid. I doubt you could find a field, anywhere in the entire country, big enough to grow a commercial pumpkin crop, that is legitimately organic. When I first started coming here, it had growing pains, particularly with staff recruitment and attitude. The place is now superb. Amazing variety of items, superb quality of cheeses and meats, both foreign and domestic. Their new checkout systems are time saving and then there is always an attendant nearby. Staff is friendly and always busy doing something. At the cheese department, they were absolutely knowledgeable about the types, origins, and their recommendations were spot on. Good training of the staff... obviously. My only recommendation is on the hot food bar. After 1:30, it tends to get picked over and a refreshment of the items is in order. Otherwise, a superb experience.

Now, the good: The prices are very good on most items. For example, they have pink lady apples (the BEST apples, and market basket doesn't carry them) for 99 cents a pound, which I stock up on. Lunch meat like sliced ham and turkey is also very competitively priced, as are some of the breakfast cereals. Produce and meats are usually fresh, at least in my experience. Overall, Price Rite won't meet all of your grocery needs, but it's an excellent addition to Manchester.

Though I may be wrong, I believe it is more Eastern-European focused. Either way, they have a great selection. I picked up some of their cured meats and some spreads. The cashier looked at our IDs since we were buying wine, and when she found out that we had just moved to the area, she gave us a reusable bag as a welcome gift. Second, and most recently, my partner and I were picking up a couple of items on a Sunday night. We went to get in the checkout line and then remembered that we needed to grab one more thing. Just then, the bagging attendant told us "I'll open another lane for you guys" to which we responded that we needed to grab another thing. He told us it was not a problem and he'd be ready when we got back, and returned to bagging. We went, got our item, and upon our return to the checkout line, the attendant immediately opened up another lane. Although this may seem small, I was so appreciative that the attendant not only wanted to improve our experience initially, but cared enough to keep an eye on us while we picked up another item and opened up another lane for us as soon as we returned. I felt that it truly went above and beyond and I wish I remembered his name to give him a shoutout. I would be remiss if I concluded this review with no mention of the Trader Joe's food.
