Since we like the Plaistow Aldi, we thought it would be nice to visit this spiffy new location in Derry. Cheerful young lady at the entrance was greeting people and providing quarters for those needing one to get a buggy. This store is like all the others, same layout and products (the German Christmas goodies are now in stock), though it is a bigger floor plan. They just spaced the aisles a little further apart so more room to maneuver buggies. All was going nicely until we started to check out. The cashier was flinging our products into the buggy! I thought two glass bottles were going to crack, not to mention biscuits and crackers turning to dust in their bags. I told her I was not happy with her method and she said they do it that way all the time, everything would be fine. Her supervisor was doing the same thing at the adjacent register. They might do that in the Derry store, but never have we experienced such callous disregard for a customer's purchases in the Plaistow store. They seem to forget where their wages are coming from. We were told if anything was damaged, we could bring it back, no problem. So we should open every bag that didn't have clear packaging to see what might be broken? We checked things as best we could as we loaded them into the car (didn't bag in store, just left). Chocolate marzipan bars at least did have clear wrap and one was broken in half. My husband took it to the greeter as he couldn't be bothered going back through the maze, explained the situation to her and said gift it to the manager as an example of how nothing gets damaged. He intends to contact head office. This appears to be a customer service and training issue. Won't be going back to this location. read more

Aldi is now open in Derry located next to Monkey Sports and Ocean State Job Lot. The official grand opening took place on October 29, 2015 and they were giving away free reusable shopping bags with any purchase to celebrate the occasion. This new Aldi store is bright, clean, and organized pretty well. Aldi is a "no frills" discount food market, which stocks the basic groceries, food items, and household things. The stuff here is pretty cheap and the prices here are competitive with Market Basket, Wal-Mart, and Hannaford. My family and I do some of our food shopping at Aldi often to save money. Aldi carries mostly their own line of brands of each product (their own unique brand names), plus they offer special purchases of name brand products. The store carries the basic dry groceries & staples, household items, canned goods, snacks, candy, limited produce, meats, deli items, frozen foods, dairy products and other perishables. There are no full service departments (ie deli, butcher, seafood, etc) here. Sometimes, they carry some specials products (ALDIfinds) such as car accessories, storage items, patio furniture, toys, radios, car battery chargers, and even GPS units. Time to go shopping! I like General Mills Honey Nut Cheerios ($2.65) and they also carry the lower priced Millville Honey Nut Crispy Oats ($1.69). Check! Aunt Jemima Buttermilk Pancake Mix (just add water) is great for camping trips, but so is Aunt Maple's Buttermilk Pancake Mix ($1.49), Check! Aunt Jemima Syrup is a favorite on my flapjacks, but I can settle for Aunt Maple's Syrup ($1.59 for 24oz bottle). Check! Quaker Instant Oatmeal helps to start the day right, and so does Millville Instant Oatmeal ($1.49).Check! I want "me" (General Mills) Lucky Charms, but Millville Marshmallow Stars ($1.69) are just as colorful and fun to eat for breakfast. Check! Chobani Greek Yogurt is a very healthy and delicious snack, but let's hope Friendly Farms Greek Yogurt ($0.75 each) is just as healthy and yummy too. Check! Hamburger Helper is super, but Reggano Skillet Dinners (99 cents) will do! Check! My Grandma swears by Betty Crocker Fudge Brownie Mix, but to save money I'll trust Bakers Corner Fudge Brownie Mix ($0.99) is just as good. Check! Lays Wavy Potato Chips are great for football parties, but so do Clancy's Wavy Potato Chips ($1.49). Check! I love Kraft Singles Light on my veggie burgers, but Fit & Active 2% Milk American Product Singles ($1.89) will do just as well. Check! Aldi has "mah" Millville Quick Grits back in stock for only $1.29 (24 oz container). Check! Mama McNabb loves Campbells Chunky Soup on cold days, but Chefs Cupboard Chunky Soup ($1.19 can) should also be great for cold days. Check! While here, let's grab some Pringles ($1.45), Benton's Maple Leaf Cream Cookies ($1.99-special buy) and Bananas (44 cents/lb). Let's not forget to grab a frozen Belmont Pumpkin Pie ($2.99) for dessert. Check! We always bring our own bags to Aldi since they charge for bags, 6 cents for paper, 10 cents for plastic, and 99 cents for a reusable. There's a self bagging area along the front window. I love Aldi but this one needs help. Go to the Aldi on South Willow if you can. The produce here is not good: rotten tasting sweet potatoes, rotten tasting mushrooms, moldy berries, soft fruit, mushy watermelon..... Baked goods also questionable. I bought some loaf cake and it was old and stale. Cookies, stale. Even three of the chocolate bars I got were blooming. I feel like these things are sitting around for too long. The freezer selections aren't consistently stocked, so I rarely get my veggie burgers, fries or pizza. If you're just shopping for dry goods this one is great. Otherwise, I'd really encourage you to try the one in Manchester, that has a perfect selection of fresh produce and baked goods. It gets more traffic. Fresh things come in more often. read more

This is my favorite Aldi in the area. It's a bit out of the way and never as packed as the nearby one in the Salem, NH area. And, it always has great finds in the Aldi Finds aisles. When other Aldi stores either don't have an item or are sold out you are guaranteed to find it here if it's in the flyer. Prices and other products are similar to all other Aldi stores. Bread and meat choices and prices are fantastic. I've found the staff very friendly at this location. It's my first stop when there's an Aldi find that I really want. read more

This is an OUTSTANDING grocery selection. With many other companies and grocers in the area between Derry and Londonderry Aldi stands apart! The staff are always helpful and kind. Prices cannot be beat! COVID cleanliness has been very great with cart wipes, hand sanitizer, and safe traffic flow. Offers more than groceries with lots of kitchen and home products as well. read more

I LOVE Aldi! They have good quality products for inexpensive prices. I am able to get organic meats and produce at a fraction of the cost elsewhere. Bring a quarter for a cart and bring your own bags. I actually prefer to bag my own stuff now because I can bag it to how I need to unload it. I won't go back to shopping at other stores. read more

I shopped at Aldi last weekend for the first and last time. I liked the toys and gifts they had for the holidays, but that's it. I got rotten chicken, moldy grapes, and too soft cranberries. The manager did refund me, but not before telling me how to freeze my chicken. Thanks-I'm all set. She also asked if I wanted to get more chicken-HA! I will NEVER, EVER go to Aldi again. Aldi is great. You can't get everything there but what they do have is all JUST AS GOOD AS NORMAL NAME BRANDS IF NOT BETTER. But at MUCH BETTER PRICES. I just wish Derry store was bigger. If you are on a fixed income, a prepper or need a bunch stuff for a party, hit Aldi. Be sure to bring your own bags or you can buy reusable bags there. read more

I would say, 90% of the time I shop, I am overcharged. Always check your receipt! For some reason, the cashiers feel the need to whip your purchases as fast as possible over the scanner and toss them in your basket. Many times if an item has $1 off or is on sale, that isn't taken off as well. I returned a chicken that was spoiled and got my $ back, but they are also supposed to replace the product. Guess the cashier didn't read the policy. I'll still shop here for cheaper cereal, milk and eggs, and will always check my receipt. read more
