To be honest, with so many grocery stores on University, I wasn't sure this was the spot for the second Aldi location in Denton. Yet, here I was on their third day and they were absolutely packed! The parking lot is larger and so is the store, compared to the location on 288. Something I was really pleased to see was the aisles are wider- actually wide enough for 2 carts to pass each other! Yay! It's the little things that make me happy. They also had four lines open at check out, instead of two. I think there were several more that weren't open. I'm not sure if this will be the norm, or if it was just for the anticipation of a busy first week after the grand opening. I certainly hope it's the new norm, because the lines were still pretty long. Just like the other location, they keep the line moving at a reasonable rate. The floor plan is a little different, so it will probably take a few trips to get used to the layout. All the fantastic Aldi prices are the same and the staff is very friendly! We just had a quick trip, in and out for a few staples, but a nice, roomy clean store is a great place to do that! Despite the competition in the area, they seem like they will do very well, and it does open exposure to more residents in Denton to have one on each side of town. This is a good choice for college students as the prices are ridiculously cheap and it's not far from either university. For those who have never been to an Aldi, a few things to know: *They do not take credit cards- only debit, EBT and cash. ** Update: they take credit cards now, no checks. *You need a quarter to get a shopping cart. It is one of the ways they keep prices down, by keeping them locked together. You get your quarter back when you responsibly lock it back in line. *You bag your own groceries, another way they keep the cost down. *Either bring your own bags or purchase theirs, free ones aren't provided (except for grand openings apparently). They offer plastic and paper and each one is 10 cents or less. *They don't have a lot of the typical name brands here, you'll find Clancy's instead of Fritos, but I have been shopping at Aldi for a year or two and like a lot of their off brand stuff more than the stuff I grew up with. *You didn't ask, but I just have to share that one of my favorite things about Aldi is that their brand of dog food is made in the USA. I transitioned my dogs over to their food and treats and they get just as excited as ever, but I save a lot of money. A box of treats is $1.59 while an 18lb bag of dog food is $7.99 (and periodically on sale). *They don't offer as wide of a variety of items as Kroger, Albertsons and Walmart, but what they offer is extremely reasonable in price. For example, they have both instant and ground coffee in several sizes, but not a Columbian version. Their classic roast is half the price of Kroger though. They have a small amount of toiletries and medicine, but not all the ones you may need for your family. So some things, I cannot get here and it's not a one stop shop. We left with 2 full bags of groceries and a big bag of dog food for only $20 though. It's a solid place for the basic staples. I also haven't seen canned food cheaper anywhere else in town. *They often have cool things on feature sale like totes, dog beds, camping gear, kitchen racks, etc. It's always something different than what is usually there and always a really cheap deal. Beware that once a sale is sold out, they don't usually stock it again unless it was part of their normal grocery offering. So if you see something cool at a great price, get it or you may be disappointed when you come back the next week and it's gone. I go to Aldi every week or two and always recommend them to people. With this one being on University with Winco, Sams, Walmart, Albertsons and Kroger I will be able to get all my shopping done in one area. I know I will be returning, you should check them out!

Very rude CASHIER. He moved my items because he was going to fast lady ahead of me couldn't keep up. He didn't add my limes, feta.
