We are at our Michigan and Oak Strret condo due to the massive power outage that blew up a Transformer in Lombard I boycott Uber as the employees are not even paid minimum wage I have my wheelchair to push my groceries around and I always buy inexpensive good food at Aldi for the local Food Pantries I could easily run that far but no way I could even carry all of my my food items back Aldi has very inexpensive prices and for multiple reasons I boycott Amazon and Whole Foods (except for easy Amazon returns if and when I have them - some stuffs are simply cheaper and easier on Amazon) Aldi had everything that a vegan needs if I supplement the foods with Trader Joe's I will not spend on Organic Foods - I have a colander and vegetable wash for like $5 on Amazon Aldi sells Soy Milk that I flavor with Vanilla beans, tofu, and basically everything that a vegan needs Trader Joe's is inexpensive and really fun - I have a 20 year collection of their Totes which my cats have claimed See attached photographic evidence At Aldi you do need to pay a refundable quarter as a cart deposit and I like that they do not require financially challenged persons to push the carts back in My husband is obese and cranky he did a lot yesterday and yelled at me at 1:00 am for making some pasta We simply hope to.have our DuPage County power restored this week read more

My recent visit to Aldi was a great one. Despite it being a Sunday and fairly busy, was able to make my way through the aisles pretty easily. Store was well kept up (clean and organized). Prices are always a huge draw, with plenty of diverse and even name brand products. They have the cutest Aldi toys. Obsessed! And, lastly, my cashier was so nice and pleasant. I wish I caught her name - she had long dark hair, short bangs, glasses, etc. I bought her a snickers for being so awesome. Thank you Aldi!!!! read more

What the heck happened to this place? Used to be cheap and cheerful. Quick. Convenient with plenty of self checkout. Now they have poorly stocked shelves. Too few cashiers. Expect a Great Depression breadline at one register. And the cashiers that are there are not just rude but downright mean. Throwing your groceries in the bag, bruising the fruit, throwing your receipt at you. Actually unbelievable what they think people will put up with to save a couple bucks. read more

Nice, clean, well-stocked store. Actually, the nicest Aldi I've been to in awhile based on variety and selection. I was especially impressed by the produce and fresh meat/poultry/fish area. Organic and grass fed protein selections are good here. Atlantic salmon on cedar plank is restaurant grade. This will be my new preferred location. read more

Took one of the best grocery stores in Chicago and ruined it overnight. Self checkout being gone is leading to an hour wait to get to the cashier. If you're worried about theft, hire an additional employee a shift to stand by the registers. Jewel makes it work. Completely disappointed. read more

I order online. They do not carry 12 oz cans of Diet Coke. They are usually out of half of the things I ordered. Great prices if you can get the items, but I have to do a second order from another store to get the things I need. At that point, it becomes not worth it. This store is making progress as over a month ago there were few options due to some kind of company restructuring and distribution changes. Today it was well stocked with their "usual" produce, cheese, breads, wines, freezer and seasonal items. There are half a dozen self-service kiosk checkout options which is nice. My only complaints are: -some items listed in the weekly fliers were not available -they are lacking adequate bags(to purchase)to place your purchased goods in to the home -there are not enough baskets or shopping carts available. read more

This Aldi used to be the best - there were a ton of self check out lanes and the longest you would have to wait was around 10 minutes even during the busiest time. Unfortunately, they recently removed all of the self check out lanes and replaced them with cashiers, which would be fine if they adequately staffed the store but they do not. I went 30 minutes after opening (a time where I could normally be in and out with self check out) and waited 25 minutes to get through the line because there was only ONE cashier working. The line was wrapped all the way around the back of the store and they never opened up another check out lane. Unfortunately, I will not be shopping here anymore until they are adequately staffed because it is not worth my time to wait in line that long when I can walk down the street to jewel and be in and out in 5 minutes. read more

HELLO ALDI We are so excited for this great new store to open near our house. Aldi is a great find. This store is huge and full of all of our aldi favorites! We could shop here all day long. I'm curious if the rest of the neighborhood is going to accept them with open arms. The best part is the free parking lot located underground. To access the parking lot enter through the alley in the back. When you walk in the door you'll immediately find a stand up cooler that is full of grab and go items. I defiantly had my eye on some of that cold brew. I truly love how big the aisles in the store are. We live in a new world of six feet apart and it makes it very easy to safely shop in the store at a distance. Most Aldi stores can be very cramped and small but not at the new Old Town Aldi. The fresh produce section is huge and laid out really nice. We spend most of our time shopping here for all of our groceries. I did love seeing all of the older shoppers. It was so cute listening to their conversations. It sounded like it was there first time stepping into an Aldi. They were wondering what was good as they looked at the meat. The old Anthony wanted to give them a tour of some of my favorite products but social distance is on everyone's mind. My advice to them! Read yelp reviews like this and hopefully you'll find some great tips. I do highly recommend the fresh salmon. The frozen is good too if they are out of the fresh. Always be on the lookout for the half price sticker on the meats. It's always a great deal. At the current time they do not have any alcohol but they do have the shelves all set up for it. Obviously their liquor license hasn't been approved yet or the delivery truck with the spirits hasn't made it yet. If you're looking for a great wine deal check out the Winking Owl. That bird has some great spirit at $2.49 and will give Chuck a run for his money. I know this store just opened but I love how well it was staffed. I counted seven people working. The Lincoln Park Aldi always has one person and they aren't available for questions. I was able to ask the staff here and they pointed me in the right direction. Look out grocery shoppers. There's a new player in town. This Aldi is going to crush it. They are literally surrounded by two Jewel stores and a Plum Market and I'll now shop here first before going to the other stores. Aldi doesn't have everything but they do have the essentials that I need to make some fresh dinners at a great price. Welcome to the neighborhood! It should be noted that is both a review of this Aldi location and Aldi in general. I have been to a few Aldi locations around Chicago, including this particular location. I was last here doing some weekend grocery shopping. First, let's discuss the positives. The store is well lit and has wide isles. You can Move around the store fairly easy. The main positives are the prices. They are some great deals to had here. Certain items have even better prices than Costco (without having to buy in bulk). For example, at the time I visited, avocados cost $.65 each verses $1.00 each at Costco (you have a bag of six at Costco). Also, almond milk was about $.30 less here verses Costco (you have to buy a pack of three at Costco). There are many other great deals to be found. Now, I will discuss the negatives. The parking garage is very narrow, hard to get into and difficult to maneuver around. Next, the selection of food and brands are limited, especially in the area of fresh meat and chicken. Also, some of the deals here are not that great. The limited food selection makes it hard to do a full shopping here. While the off the brand items are typically just as good as the brand name, some are not. For example the frozen breaded chicken patties are cheap, but each party is much smaller than the brand name you could buy elsewhere. Next, efficiencies where poor at the check out. At the time I went, they only have two check out lanes open and the check out was slow and each line was long. Overall, this is a great place to get a few good deals on some specific items. It's not a great a place for a full and complete food shopping. read more

The staff for the most part are very nice and helpful and friendly especially Derrick. Be very careful when buying fresh produce especially asparagus. I buy a lot of produce here and my mother's caregiver said the asparagus is ALWAYS going bad even upon opening it. I'm disappointed because the prices are good and the store is conveniently located near me. I asked the caregiver about the carrots, onions, bananas and broccoli and celery and all those items are fine. BUT BE CAREFUL most of the cut up fruit goes bad in1-2 days like the water melon and cantaloupe and pineapple! Check all expiration dates of ALL PRODUCTS! read more

I came here on Sunday and bought some chicken sausages. I cooked them on Monday morning for breakfast and started having burning and itching all over my body. I thankfully took allergy medicine before it got worse. I later went to look at the packaging of the sausages and saw they were expired the week before. I did not think to check expiration dates when I go grocery shopping but it appears I am going to have to now on. Not coming back to Aldis anymore if they are selling expired products. read more

My new favorite grocery store in the area. Don't be fooled by the bare bones look, the quality of their products is amazing and their prices unbeatable. The cashiers are efficient and the lines are rarely too long. They even have phenomenal organic produce - even if they usually don't have the brand names you would recognize, they are of high quality. I have been shopping at Aldi's for 25 years. I have recently been shopping for my groceries on-line, and having them delivered. I use, Instacart Services and they are great. However, my last several orders have been a disaster. Numerous items are missing from my order because Aldi is out of stock on so much. I can't order fresh produce because it rots in 2 days. My last order had over 30% of the items missing. I spoke to my Daughter in Florida, and she is experiencing the same thing. She said she solved her problem there by ordering on Thursday when their truck comes in. I emailed Aldi's to let them know about this, and they returned my email, apologizing for the "few" items I was short, and suggested that I go to Instacart with my complaint. They are not following covid-19 protocol at this old town 201 Division location. My first visit which was on a Wednesday afternoon there were a handful of seniors in the store who were not wearing their masks over their nose and nobody was correcting them. My second visit today Friday at around 10 a.m. I'm checking out and a lady comes in without a mask, she's standing by the door entrance asking if it's okay and the cash register guy gets up checks with another cash register lady and comes back to her and says " that's okay you can shop". I did not want to stick around to have a conversation with the manager in an unprotected environment so I thought okay I'll come home and call him or her. Apparently the phone number is for a nationwide Aldi and there's no way to get in touch with them so that's why I'm putting this review. Otherwise the story is very clean well-stocked very polite agree with everything else thus the 2 starts but this is in this day and age not following your own store rules to protect from covid-19 is a huge red flag read more
