I saw the great reviews here for Chinook Bottle Depot and thought I'd check them out. The first thing I noticed is how quiet the machines were-no yelling to talk to the attendant. She gave me the exact amount for my bottles! And no line-ups! The second time I went, a man working there came out, brought a cart to my car, and helped me fill it up w/ my bottles. I've NEVER had this happen at any other depot. They have earned my patronage, and I will be driving the extra km to come here! Very impressed :)

All of the other depots weren't helpful and some were in fact quite rude. However, Dean, the manager at the North Hill depot was super friendly and helpful and after explaining to him last week what I needed, he called me back today and said they were ready to be picked up. This is my first trip to any kind of recycling center; the condo I live in does have recycling and I usually just do it there. But, my friend stated I can get a nice amount change and this place is close to where I live. it was Sunday; I was bored. In any event, away we went. Turns out, I had just over $10 worth of stuff including aluminum cans, glass bottles, plastic bottles. They also recycle cardboard but I don't think you get paid for that but since I had all my recyclables sorted in boxes, it made sense to leave the boxes there. They do have a sink and soap that you can wash your hands after you have dropped off your items. From their website, they state "We also accept unlimited house hold paints and pay top dollar for your scrap metals (excluding steel). We pay full deposit on all non-alcoholic containers, wine , spirits and imported beer bottles." Note, they do not recycle plastic bottles from oil or gas; you can allegedly take those to most gas stations. The staff was not all the friendly but civil and efficient. Again, this is my first trip to such a center, first to this location, and it was a Sunday. They were not rude by any means. They are open Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm 8am to 5pm on Sundays and holidays.

I read the reviews before I went and someone wrote, "Count your bottles before you deposit them…read morehere." (not exact phrasing, but along the lines of that). So I did. I counted my bottles. Then when I took them in - of course guess what happened. They told me I had one less than what I brought in. Hah! Unless I am retarded and I don't know how to count, but I've always been good at math and I even got an "A" in Calculus, which I took in high school. I know they were only "off by one" and why should I care it's only .10, but it is a matter of principle. The Bible says, "A false balance is an abomination to the LORD..." So, it's honestly my culture to only do business with trustworthy people. I just feel like their scammers, and it's a matter of accounting; if they rip off everyone .10, it adds up!!! I had a very positive experience when I took my cans/bottles to the Bottle Depot on T'sue Tina nation. Will pack up my bottles and go there; at least they are honest!!
