Jose brings an incredible amount of expertise, hard work, and enthusiasm to every job. He is very communicative throughout the process and works efficiently while still maintaining a very high standard. It is clear he cares deeply about doing the job right. I hired him for two projects to restore wood that had been badly maintained over the years. From the start, he was upfront about realistic expectations and worked closely with me so the final result would be both beautiful and aligned with my personal taste, even with the challenges from past wear and damage. His process is meticulous. He carefully preps, conditions, and treats the wood so the finish looks great and will last. One of the projects he worked on was restoring our outdoor patio seating, which had been heavily worn down by the elements. It had become rough, uncomfortable to sit on, and even left little splinters. Jose transformed it completely. The wood is now smooth, almost velvet to the touch, and looks beautiful again. He also took the time to tighten loose planks so everything feels solid and well cared for. If you need help restoring decks, outdoor wood furniture, benches, railings, or other exterior wood, Jose is exceptional. I am thrilled with the results and will absolutely work with him again.

I'm very disappointed with my experience with Mario/Rodriguez Maintenance & Landscaping. I hired…read moreMario to do fence work at my home, including moving the fence and gate area back from my driveway. Since the work was completed, the fence has never been the same. The biggest issue throughout this entire process was reliability and communication. Mario would give me specific dates and times that he was supposed to come to my house, and then he simply would not show up. This happened multiple times. After the work was completed, I reached out several times because there were issues that needed to be fixed. Every time, Mario would say he was coming back, but he never followed through. The quality of the work itself was also disappointing. There are visible gaps along the bottom of the fence, parts of the fence are uneven and not level, and some of the boards have spaces where you can clearly see through them. The fence along the driveway also does not match the rest of the fence we paid for. In addition, there are holes drilled into our concrete where the fence latches are supposed to lock into place, but one of the holes was drilled incorrectly and the latch does not properly secure. When we originally received the quote for the backyard fence, the driveway fence, and moving the gate back, Mario told us that his work was guaranteed for one year. Unfortunately, when we actually needed him to come back and address the issues, he did not stand behind that guarantee. I also want to clarify that Mario did not personally complete the work himself. In the beginning, two workers came to our house to start the project. I overheard them talking about how there should have been more workers assigned to the job, and they were discussing how much Mario was going to pay them. The next day, only one worker returned. It then took at least another two weeks before Mario finally brought two additional workers back because the project was taking much longer than originally quoted. I understand that projects can sometimes take longer than expected, and honestly that was not even my biggest concern. The real issue was the lack of communication and professionalism. Mario would disappear for periods of time, claim his phone was disconnected, and contact us from random phone numbers. We were constantly left wondering whether anyone was actually coming back to finish the work. Most recently, my fiancé reached out to him again regarding the problems with the fence. Mario said he would come on Sunday, so we rearranged things at our home and waited for him while dealing with other construction projects. He never showed up. Later that evening, around 5 or 6 PM, he sent a text saying he could not make it. At that point, it felt like the exact same pattern all over again. Overall, this experience was extremely frustrating. We trusted Mario based on his promises and the one-year guarantee he provided, but when problems came up, he never properly followed through. The communication was poor, the workmanship was disappointing, and the issues were never corrected. Unfortunately, I would not recommend hiring him. ***UPDATE*** Mario, I was understanding about your personal situation and never expected you to "jump" when I texted. The issue was the repeated promises to come fix the fence and then not showing up or following through over a long period of time. Communication absolutely does matter when customers are trying to resolve problems with paid work that was advertised as guaranteed for a year. Also, calling it a "discount" does not excuse the quality of the work. I paid for a fence that was supposed to be done properly and guaranteed for one year. A lower price should not mean lower workmanship or ignored repairs. I wish you and your family well, but my review reflects my actual experience.

While we worked with a separate landscape designer, Octavio's on-the-ground expertise actually improved the final result. He suggested practical modifications to the original terrace and retaining wall plans that better suited our terrain, which saved us significant costs. Beyond the major earth-moving, he handled: - Full Front Yard Renovation: High-quality work at a very fair price. - ADU Infrastructure: Trenching and installation for electric, water, and sewer lines. - Finishing Touches: Expert irrigation, lighting, and planting. What truly sets him apart is his character. When raccoons tore up our new sod, Octavio offered to repair it under warranty, even though it wasn't his fault. And look -- that could have gone sideways real fast. Like, real fast. It didn't. Thank God. Here's the thing about this crew -- and I mean every single person who showed up -- they were just genuinely friendly. Not "we want your money" friendly. Actually friendly. The kind where you don't mind them being at your house for weeks. And on top of being friendly, they actually knew what they were talking about. I asked a lot of questions. Probably too many. Nobody fumbled. Nobody gave me the blank stare. Nobody redirected me to someone else. Just straight, confident answers from people who clearly know their craft. That goes for the construction crew, the painters, and the membrane repair team. All of them. Damn consistent across the board. Now -- I'll be real with you. Their quote came in a little higher than some of the other estimates we were getting. And yeah, I side-eyed it a little at first. But here's the thing -- the other quotes were coming from general contractors. And with something like this, I didn't want a generalist. I wanted a team that actually specializes in this kind of work. And that's exactly what I got. So honestly, the higher quote made complete sense once I thought about it. You're not paying more for the same thing -- you're paying for people who actually know what the hell they're doing at a deeper level than your average contractor. And as the project grew from a partial repair into a full deck reconstruction -- which, by the way, nobody saw coming -- the cost didn't blow up the way you'd expect it to. It stayed fair. It stayed honest. Nobody tried to squeeze extra money out of a situation that was growing by the week. When you zoom out and look at the whole picture, it's a no-brainer. You get what you pay for. And I couldn't be happier. Sammy and John were on it the whole time. Responsive, communicative, never left me hanging. And even after the project wrapped up and I came back with follow-up questions -- because I definitely did -- they were still right there. Patient, thorough, zero attitude. I had a lot of anxiety going into something this big, and somehow between Sammy's leadership and John keeping everything moving in the right direction, that anxiety just kind of... dissolved. Which, if you know me, is not easy to do. These guys just get it. Oh, and they cleaned up after themselves. Every single damn day. No nails. No debris. No "that's not my problem" energy. They treated my home like it was their own. Like, genuinely. I didn't have to ask once. Special shoutout to Sammy for always being reachable, to John for keeping the whole operation from going off the rails, and to Fernando, Armando, and Salvadore for their hard work and dedication on the ground -- these guys showed up every day and just handled their business. And honestly, the entire construction crew, the painters, and the membrane repair team deserve a shoutout too. Every single one of them showed up like it mattered. Because it did. These are good people doing great work and it shows. Most importantly -- I finally feel safe enjoying the outside of my home again. And honestly? That's everything.

Shortly after, he provided a detailed quote, and we arranged the project timeline around his understandably busy schedule. When rain interfered with our original installation date, Leo was quick to coordinate a new date as soon as the weather cooperated. On installation day, Leo and his crew arrived on time and fully prepared. The team was outstanding -- communicative, professional, and respectful of the property throughout the entire process. Roman was amazing…read more Our house came with a deck that was in complete disrepair. Rotting wood, chipped and fading paint, outdated aesthetics. We really wanted a new deck and at a reasonable cost. We reached out to a few contractors via Yelp. One of them kinda gave us the runaround and wanted us to do some legwork for him, another quoted us an obscene amount for labor alone (he didn't even include materials), and then there was Roman. He came by, gave the deck a once over, inspected the existing joists and foundation, and made a recommendation to keep those in place as they were actually still solid. We decided to hire him based on his honesty, his prior work and reviews as seen on Yelp, and his estimate (which came in at about half of what the other guy had given us). When it came time to discuss materials, Roman suggested using real wood, either redwood or ipe. We asked about using Trex and he told us he believed we'd be better off with real wood. We liked Trex because of its low maintenance and durability. We talked about it more and, even though it wasn't what Roman suggested, decided to go with Trex. He was totally fine with that and we moved forward. Roman came nearly every weekday during the project unless it was raining or he had a family obligation. He demoed our old deck and built the new one. Every day he'd stay until later in the day when it started to get dark. He even stayed after dark a couple of times, working by flashlight. He also cleared the workspace of any sawdust or other debris. He worked hard and kept up a standard of tidiness throughout. In the end we wound up with a beautiful deck that we could not be happier about. Roman did an amazing job. He demoed and hauled away our old, dilapidated deck and replaced it with a beautiful new Trex deck that should last for decades. He did a fantastic job and we are thrilled we decided to go with him. When we did, they were easily solved with Google translate. You won't regret hiring Roman. We definitely don't.
