This place is awful! The employees are so rude. They used to be really nice so I am truly disappointed. I realize we are in the middle of a tough time right now, but a poor woman walked in yesterday and didn't have a mask. All she wanted to do was pay for one cup of noodles and it was so sad because that's all she wanted. This rude employee didn't offer to help her at all and just kicked her out. She could've thought of probably 10 different solutions to helping that woman but never even tried. I should've left my groceries right there and walked out with that poor woman in solidarity but i was too stunned. I will never come here again as they have been slowly getting worse and worse. Every time I come to this location I vow to never return. The lines are always at least 5 people long and have never seen more than 2 checkout lanes open. Ever. They constantly have solicitors in front begging for cash for their halfway house and even had a young man follow me to my car when I declined to give him money. I hate that this is the most convenient grocery store on my commute home. read more

Cathy, one of the cashiers, she's not very professional or friendly, she even gives me attitude. We started shopping there 4 years ago. It only took a few times in her line to get the picture. I avoid her line, but sometimes in the mornings, she's the only cashier. I prefer to go to the Albertson in Lemon Groove even though I live close to this Albertsons. Feel free to go to this store in your pajamas and curlers if wanted. It's frightening. The deli department might be the worst. If you can get help, plan on germs from gloves that handle everything in the department. They do not discard their gloves. The only reason I go back is sadly it's convenient for me. I recently ordered 7 party platters for a celebration of life event. Teresa in the deli was the one that helped me and everything came out perfectly. The croissant platter was very popular. We had a lot of senior citizens and the pinwheels were the biggest hit. All the sandwich trays had entered of meat and cheese and were beautifully presented. I would not hesitate to order from her again. As for the rest of the deli staff, they need additional training or need to be moved to a different department. If you have any party needs, make sure you talk to Teresa only. read more

THIS IS A REVIEW FOR THE PHARMACY ONLY. The pharmacist had such a great attitude she made me feel better just by her niceness. My prescriptions were ready in like 12 minutes which i thought was awesome! They made sure to tell me that the drugs would make me drowsy which was helpful because i was ready to take one that second. AND she got me a discount since i had so many things to fill. This ALBERTSONS store on Campo Road deserves accolades for the many ways in which it has distinguished itself on virtually every level, with respect to customer service, merchandise selection, product value, a welcoming atmosphere and, most importantly, a staff comprised of genuinely warm, friendly and solicitous team players for whom nothing is too much trouble. I've shopped this store for more than a decade, and have known at least 3 Store Directors, all of whom are hands-on, dedicated and enthusiastic leaders. ALBERTSONS in Spring Valley may be relatively small in physical terms, but it is huge when it comes to personal service, particularly in an often lackluster, highly competitive grocery industry. The current Store Director, Eric W., makes every customer feel like he or she is valued and respected, much as one would expect from a family-run business. His energy, enthusiasm and commitment have motivated me to promote his store consistently among, friends, neighbors and clients. My referrals have all reported very positive shopping experiences, especially during the checkout process and, in my view, this is most important since the cashiers and managers have a special way in this store of solidifying the store and customer partnership. The meat/seafood department is absolutely first-rate in every respect. This place deserves 4 stars out of 5. It won't get 5 stars until they open some registers up! The lines are always leading to the back of the frozen food aisles. In return, it makes the grocery store crowded and slow to move through if your coming from the fruit section heading towards the deli. The people at the cashier like to talk and take their sweet time when people got things to do and people to see. We're just trying to get our crap and leave! I get it that they have to make small talk but that's all it should lead too is "small talk." Not a full blown conversation. Lines are always long no matter what day or time you come through at. I do love their monopoly games though that they have every year. Tons of free stuff out of it so play it! read more

It could use an update and some baskets out front. In particular, I'd like to compliment Sonya who is absolutely an amazing employee! The employees here are so nice and helpful. I was getting balloons one day and the balloon lady was hilarious. She is such a people person and enjoys her job. I learned from her that there is a helium shortage in the United States. I had asked her why no one else seemed to have helium except for this particular store in Spring Valley. She mentioned a helium shortage and indicated that's how you know the world is comin' to an end, when natural things like helium are in demand. HA! As an added bonus, the customers are nice people too. I always seem to spark up a conversation with strangers here. One lady even let me skip ahead of her in line because I only had a few items verses her filled up cart. I will always be going here for the things I don't need to get at Costco in bulk size. read more

So many people from the "homes" as well as the homeless begging for money out front. They walk up to you as you're getting out of the car or getting in the car. As a female, this scares me to death. I've even had a man follow me in the store and make derogatory comments. In fact, one of the staff members had to walk me out to my car. As for the actual store, there are numerous items on the shelf that are out-of-date. We need a store in this neighborhood that will take responsibility for the security of their shoppers. read more

Very long lines and no shopping carts outside. Cashier was not helpful. Forgot to run 3 of my 5 items through and made me stand aside and wait for person behind me with a huge cart full of stuff. On the positive side - good produce section. read more

I shop here frequently and always go to the deli section. The experience I received when going here last week was the worst I have ever had. The employee, I believe her name is Ruby, African American female, working in the deli section is very rude. She needs to go back to customer service training 101. I always order my deli meat in 1/4 lb and after ordering the meat, I stated I will also be ordering some cheese. She rolled her eyes at me and sarcastically said, "you're not doing 1/4 for those too?" I said yes I am. Then she rolled her eyes and looked upset. I told her, "it seems you do not want to help me?" She said sarcastically, "well there is no one here that can but me. I'm the only one who can cut these!" I told her I was a paying customer. She ignored me. After cutting the cheese, she then took her sweet time to bag and weigh them. I asked for 3 different types of cheese and she only did 2 of them! She slammed the cheese on the counter and told me again sarcastically, "have a great day!" That was her signal to tell me to leave. Wow! I have never been treated so horribly here. When I got home, the cheese wasn't even cut properly. It was so thin, it kept sticking together and fell apart. She needs to be retrained or let go! If she's the only one who can cut the deli meat/cheese, it's not even done right! Not sure if I can bring myself to go back here! I will go to Vons moving forward since they are always so friendly in the deli section. read more

Every single time I come to Albertsons I say to myself, "This is the last time I'm stepping foot in here." There is always a line no matter what because there are only two cashiers at any given time. I've tried early in the morning middle of the day night there is always a stupid line. Not to mention, it's way too expensive. Ridiculous prices. This is a badly managed store. However, the cashiers and other staff including the security guard are very friendly. They get five stars. Manager gets no stars. The two stars are for the fact that the store exists and can be relied upon to carry items I need to buy when I'm in the middle of cooking and forgot an ingredient. I wish it was a Trader Joe's or at least a Vons. Disgraceful company to fleece its customers. read more

This has been one of my 'go' to grocery stores in the neighborhood. It's a lil bit of a smaller store and their store layout can be somewhat confusing. The other thing that annoys me is that I have to push a button to get someone to unlock the liquor cabinet which sends out a prerecorded message over the pa while I wait there like a child waiting on a parent for permission. I get it. I live in the ghetto. But I have not seen this anywhere else in sd that I have visited except for the stores in my area. Maybe it's time to move. But I digress.... read more

I usually go to the Vons in La Mesa on University but I find myself shopping in this area now. I find myself swinging in more often to pick up a few last minute things. Their flowers are always fresh and a good price. Having a pharmacy inside is convenient as is having Target right next door. The produce is good quality as are the meats. A shout out to the staff who are very friendly and helpful...nice staff member in the dairy section held the door open for me while I grabbed my milk and a bagger was sweeping up and was so polite to me. I rarely read the other reviews of those who have reviewed a place that I am about to review. But in this instance, some of the reviews were down right snobby. For instance, given that some a-hole who is supposedly from Spring Valley indicated, "This Albertsons suffers from bad-part-o-town" and "the people that hang out around there are......" what does that say about him? Also the person who wrote, " every time i come here I'm harassed either by kids selling candy out of those big blue plastic bins trying to fund raise for a trip somewhere or groups of people flagging me down trying to get me to listen to their shitty rap CD demo with a Walkman in hand. or a group of grown woman fighting and then resulting in weaves flying in the air" I don't know what substance you are on when you teeter over to the store, but I have been frequenting this store for 4 months at various times of the day and night and have never witnessed any of the incidents written. Also, many many stores have people fundraising outside or collecting money for one reason or another. Walk on by ... it's a given at many stores. Also having to stand in line to rent a red box? Oh my God ... you poor dear. Red box is suprisingly popular at $1.25 a rental. Go rent at blockbuster for $5 and shut up. "they change baggers like i change my underwear (aka frequently) those kids are always rude and always talking to the cashiers as they bag your items" did u know that chain stores frequently transfer workers or that some of the kids pick up temporary positions during the summer or school breaks? And why does it matter? Your groceries are being bagged. If you don't like the baggers, go to Food For Less or Sav-a-lot and bag your own damn groceries. Also, if the bagger engaged in conversation, you'd bitch they were overely friendly, so they converse with the cashier? Big deal. you don't talk with your coworkers? "the milk that was bought at this location was gross". Notify the manager that items are not being rotated out, I'm sure it will be remedied. Also, the person who wrote, "The only thing I don't like at this store is the pharmacy inside...the phamarcist is a complete asshole" I have found all the pharmacists to be nice and helpful. If it is true that a pharmacist "told me to stop nursing my baby because he said I don't need to" then im sure there is a pharmacy site to call and report the guy. Somehow it seems something was misunderstood. Bottom line - this store is clean, decently priced, has a nice well stocked produce department, has a pharmacy located in the store that opens early (!), and has friendly customer service. read more

Typical Albertsons very clean and quiet for an early afternoon. But there wasn't one single person that greeted me when I came in

the problem I have w/ this albertsons is their expiration date issue. time after time, I will check the date of a dairy item before putting it in my cart and will see it is past it's sell by date. if i can find someone workin the area, I will let them know but they don't usually seem very concerned. not only dairy products but things such as jams/jelly, meat, etc. overall the cashiers are friendly and recognize you after a while which is appreciated. the prices are fair and in a pinch this place is good; but I prefer the Vons on Avocado. read more

I didn't like this albertson's at first but then I went in there so much that the workers started recognizing me and started making small talk everytime I came in. I really appreciate good quality customer service and they are always so caring, nice and cool people. The only thing I don't like at this store is the pharmacy inside...the phamarcist is a complete asshole and told me to stop nursing my baby because he said I don't need to and if I want to take medicine then I will stop nursing my baby. I'm not that selfish and I don't think it's anyone's place to tell me to stop nursing my child (who was only 9 months old at the time). He said that nursing a child is a psychological thing and told me I'm only nursing to stay bonded to my child and not for nutrition. WTF??? This dude is insane and I couldn't even complain to anyone because he was the highest up in charge of that joint. i just told him he better sleep with one eye open or I will force a bottle full of viagra down his throat and make him die of an overly long lasting erection. I will be switching my prescription to Target's pharmacy instead due to this incident. But will continue to shop at this albertsons. read more

They "remodeled" several years back and I was hopeful. But nothing seemed to change. I spoke to a manager and was informed "this is not a store to do your main shopping trip, like Rancho San Diego Albertsons. Que? Indeed Rancho SD has an amazing selection and immaculately clean store. Meanwhile back in the hood... floors are uneven, expired labels and fruit flies buzz the produce (that's new!) after Fresh and Easy closed Albertson's got worse. They understaff. And why not? No grocery store for miles. They own CDO. Anyone up 4 a boycott? read more

I like this store because it's conveniently located, and the employees are very friendly and helpful. The store was once in less than great shape but recent renovations have improved it tremendously! My only complaint is due to the area it is located in. There are a lot of sketchy characters that frequent the store and parking lot. I have been harassed several times and have had to ask for help from employees more than once. They don't have actual security so the problem continues. If they fixed that I would give the store 5 stars. read more

Very dated interior and no self checkouts make this store a inconvenience. Especially when there's 3's a crowd signs saying they'll open another register. Most of the time customers just stand around wondering who is running things. Plus there are usually people panhandling right outside both entrances and exits. read more

I find this store frustrating at best. It is difficult to shop here due to poor selections of foods that other Albertsons do carry. I am gluten free and dairy free but I do buy those things along with my foods for the family. Not a good store for food sensitive or food allergic people. Poor selection at best. They do not carry many of the food options and selections other Albertsons carry. They have an end aisle for gf options but the most expensive foods are here of course. I have asked questions about where things are and the people working here are nice most of the time. They are clueless about anything out of the ordinary such as gluten free lactose free. I understand it is not a concern for many people who may work there but it is a "Food store". They received two stars for the customer service I have received that was positive otherwise they would get one star. read more

I've been going to this Ablertsons for a while now and I think that this is a perfect grocery store in a very convenient location.

First off the store is usually clean, the workers that walk around the store do offer help when you look lost =] but the girls and the women at the register are ALWAYS gossiping, back an forth while there ringing people up, an I have been in the store while the girls in the front were all standing at the bagging area starring at me and talking.
