Did you know that according to U.S. Census Bureau 2020 data, 50.8% of the U.S. adult population is female? And that only 6% of the entire U.S. population is under the age of 5. Interesting, right? Even more interesting when you consider in this enormous, newly renovated Albertson's, if you need any type of diaper, or baby formula, you can find it easily on the aisle of the main supermarket. However, if you need any type of period product, a regular once a month occurrence for a significant percentage of us, you must leave the main supermarket and travel to an inconveniently located small pharmacy annex in the attic, a space so removed that it requires an elevator, or two sets of stairs to get to. That's right. You can buy diapers, makeup supplies and all manner of over the counter pharmacy items in this enormous main supermarket. In fact, there is so much space in this lovely newly renovated Albertsons, that their seasonal shelves were often empty, leaving a good amount of available shelf space, and their wine and extensive alcohol drinks section takes up an entire corner of their main floor. Meanwhile, a women's basic monthly needs are hidden away in a small, inconvenient section of their pharmacy annex, next to adult diapers, far removed from the main store and awful to access with a grocery cart. read more

For being one of 2 options in this town this would be the better of the two for sure. Conveniently located right in the middle of town. This store is also recently remodeled and has all the options of a bigger format store just in a smaller version. They also have a Starbucks and a complete pharmacy upstairs for convenience and a larger eating area to enjoy your food from the deli or Starbucks. The prices as expected are a little higher being a resort town but not as bad as I have seen in others. The staff here is super friendly on the multiple times we visited the location. For a store if this size we found everything we were looking for and were all around happy. Wound for sure go back and skip past the other option in town( Ridley's). read more

Driving by on a lovely Autumn afternoon, it was seeing an upper outside deck that first caught my attention. Then I saw the Albertsons sign. An Idaho HQ'd grocery chain I ignored until moving to the state myself, I've come to appreciate Albertson's for what it is, even if I don't shop at the stores very often given I'm an organic produce / specialty products / support local / humane husbandry / no processed foods kinda shopper in the main. And Albertson's is not so much that grocer...for now. (See PS - MARKET STREET footnote.) Later in the day, remembering that deck, in my husband and I went after a dinner that was so poor at a so-called wine bar as to find ourselves on the hunt for coffee and dessert elsewhere on a gorgeous Autumn evening when being outdoors was just the ticket. Good idea it turned out to be. The upper level of this store, where the deck is, is also home to the pharmacy and full service Starbucks. We picked up yummy, crunchy, specialty cookies from the in-store bakery, bought coffee and enjoyed the peace outdoors, we were the only ones there, and peek-a-boo views of the lake in the so sweetly fleeting day in the best time of year. So, there's that for this Albertson's. Which I understand is relatively newly installed in space remodeled from an old-time local grocery, Paul's, for which some locals seem to grieve the loss. Having never been acquainted with Paul's for comparison, I have to say this Albertson's seems a pretty nice grocer for a small town like McCall. Although like most Albertson's minus a lot of what I'd want to buy were I living in town and needing to shop. Like good organics and humanely husbanded products and yadayadayada... As example, as long as I was there I figured I'd pick up some ancho and guajillo peppers I knew I needed for a recipe at home in a couple of days. There was not a bag of dried peppers in the place. I did, however, walk out with a bag of Werther's brand (you know, the long time caramel candy company) of caramel popcorn which was new to my hubby and me so "why not..." (Good it is too. Recommended.) And being used to the super friendly staff at the Albertsons stores in my area, I found the staff here to be pretty reserved, just shy of indifferent. Maybe I hit them on a bad evening. But we're not getting married, I'm just shopping so it is all good for what it is. Well organized, sparkling clean, accessible (including an elevator to the second floor), well lit and then there's that deck. I'm a fan. PS: MARKET STREET - Albertsons is introducing a new line of stores called Market Street, which one might see as a 'mash up' of Albertson's and Whole Foods. The flagship, the first, for Market Street stores was launched in Boise this summer. Given that store's proximity to Albertson's stadium at BSU, prior to launch the decision was made by the CEO to leave the Albertson's name on this building. But it is all Market Street format for expanded specialty products, some responsibly raised proteins, expanded take-away convenience food, arguably the best cheese monger section in the State, great customer service and even in-house sommelier for wine section. They still lack enough organic or local for me to be a regular, but they're on a good path. They also have an upper floor with a bar. I don't 'get' a bar in a grocery store, but they are doing gangbusters with BSU students who used to like to imbibe at Whole Foods' 'River Room' and have migrated in good numbers to this Albertson's bar given proximity to campus. Different strokes. This huge store in Boise is about 65,000SF. New Albertsons in town. But I miss the former store (Paul's). Two of three employees--male cashiers--we had to deal with were ridiculous and rude. Three girls in the deli talked to each other instead of helping customers. Train your employees! We came back several times later in the week; female cashiers were friendly and actually interacted with customers. They have free wifi now. Aisles weren't labeled clearly for products. It was FREEZING! Their pharmacy/personal care/medicine is UPSTAIRS (awful with grocery carts). A major portion of the main floor is just alcohol. Why not put the liquor upstairs?! Parking lot was crowded. They're remodeling, but it was still a mess. I know they have limited space, but multi-level grocery stores are a pain. Hopefully they will improve as they build. One year later: remodeling is complete. The store is organized, clean, and well-stocked. We just bought food this time so we didn't have to go upstairs to get toiletries. Still a busy, crowded parking lot. My husband loves their produce and deli. read more

This is a BEAUTIFUL new build that replaced cute little Paul's that used to be here. This Alby's is unreal! Clean, spacious, and includes a Starbucks on the upper floor. So, you can't really go wrong. The store has everything you could ever need a maybe a few new things! We utilized this Starbucks a lot during our 4th of July vacation. Our lake house that we rented did not have wi-fi but a few of us needed to work so we set up our HQ here. We will always use this Albertson's even if parking can be tough sometimes. read more

We were so pleased with the arrangements, the colors, the quality of the flowers, and the prices! We simply specified colors that we wanted and she worked her magic with the arrangements. Use to love shopping at the McCall Albertsons. Most of the folks really friendly, some not. Really disappointed in the pricing of their products for example of the meat prices. Why in the world would I pay $19 plus a pound for rib eyes or new York's especially when I can get them at Ridleys market for $9 plus a pound and the meat is better at Ridleys. I've worked big corporate in my career and they are supposed to be the leader of the industry but Ridleys is way out performing in passing the savings to the customers. I've always said you can ask any price you want but doesn't mean you will get it. Find your "sweet" spot on pricing and I might consider shopping there again. I bet your customer count is down but your sales are up because of the high prices. Time for your company to re-acess read more

Poor customer service. Called to ask if someone could possibly look in the safe for my credit card. I've call three time weekly for the past three weeks. Only manager can look in the safe it seem that they are either on lunch or break. Ive also been hung up on several time as well. Let messages and no response. read more

It's always unfortunate that the small cars take all of the new trailer parking in the back lot. The back historically has always been for vehicles with trailers. Now the long spaces that were set aside are full of cars. No signage for trailers. Ridleys it is. read more

Wondering if the previous reviews were at anther store?! I refrained from going during the first part of construction last year but have gone many times since. My first time in I went through the whole first floor (haven't been upstairs yet) and was very pleased with the layout not to mention the abundance of items. Well spaced and lighted with no dark, narrow places. After a couple of trips in I had the layout down and now I can easily go in and out with the items needed. And the employees? Not once have I had one rude or ignore me. I am the kind who says good morning/afternoon to staff in stores and have received a smile and hello from every single one I have greeted and always helped when in need. I swear one of the lady cashiers lives there as she is always on duty when I visit and is the type that becomes your friend and greets you as such each visit. I guess I need to go upstairs to see just what is there. That would be the only negative I would have. I have not checked to see if there is an elevator to take a cart up or not; will see on my next trip. I like to buy local to help our small economy here in McCall and since this Albertsons has arrived my trips to the Boise valley to buy at WinCo have diminished even though it costs me more here. With the varied selection and wonderful fresh foods I am more than pleased with McCall's Albertsons store. read more
