One of two little mom and pop Dairy Queen places....I tried this, which claims to have the "world famous" chili dog. Well, if this place is world famous for chili dogs - then it's "world famous" for all the wrong reasons. The chili on this chili dog, was (not) the kind of taste you'd want on a chili dog. And the hot dog itself: not very good and really fairly lousy. Maybe there's other things that are good at this place. I personally (just haven't) found them yet.. read more

Our friends have included us in their tradition of stopping at Cree-Mee's to and from the lake so we've been here a few times now. However, our friends and I only order a swirl ice cream cone which is exactly what I want and need in my life. This little joint is definitely "small town" and has seen better days. Utilizing the drive-thru, we stopped by a few days ago when my eyes were hungrier than my stomach so I ordered the large swirl cone. I immediately regretted my decision, but I'm not a quitter so I ate 99% of it. The employee was nice but wasn't wearing any gloves or napkins while handling the cone. That said, I ended up not eating that part. At least the ice cream is smooth and creamy. read more

Classic old school burger and shake place. Had the Chili dog and a butterscotch shake. The shake was primo. Thick and creamy but just right. The dog was standard. Footlong and perfect amount of chili. They could add a little more cheese but not bad. I waited over 20 minutes just to order. I took the drive through and once you are in it you are basically stuck for the duration as it is a narrow area to drive. Not bad though read more

Stopped by to get ice cream and chili dogs. Have passed it many times going to the lake and have always wanted to try it. The chili dog was very good. The Cree Mee is a historic icon for Eldon. Been there since 1952. I moved out of Eldon in 1968. Has not changed much since I left Eldon. That is part of the charm of the Cree Mee. Is it a high end road side food stop? No. Is it a updated place with modern amenities? No. It would not be the Cree Mee if it was updated. Yes it looks unorganized in the kitchen and it is old. Yes there are flies flying around but flies need food too. Just had a chili dog and a marshmallow Pepsi. AWESOME! It was a well deserved trip back in time and I couldn't be happier. Update: May 2018-Stopped by the Cree-Mee after a year. Amazing how consistent this place is. Full of history and charm. read more

You eat frozen, then reheated chili dogs outside on a 80's pic nic table next to trash cans swarming with flys and wasp. Look closely inside and you might find your cook smoking next to the food while a sticky fly trap ,that looks to haven't been changed in weeks , dangles right above him. Not sure how this places passed a health inspection, maybe the owner and inspector are relatives, or the same person. read more

In a little white shack close to Interstate-70 you can find some frozen-goodness. It was late and I needed an ice cream fix. My GPS said there was a Cree-Mee Freeze, so I decided to check it out. I'm glad that I didn't stop at McDonald's... This is a local burger, sandwich, fried stuff, and ice cream stand. The service was through a small slide up window. There is no drive-up, and very little seating. The ice cream was a creamy soft-serve. I had a chocolate shake, and my only complaint was that the narrow straw made it rather difficult to drink the thick shake. It tasted like it was make of a milk base instead of heavy cream or custard. It was pretty think, and had a heavy chocolate flavor. It was served in a waxed paper cup. I am very upset with the Cree-Mee you have to dodge all the pot holes or it will tear your car or tires up one looks big enough to swallow my whole car up and you can't backup if there's vehicles behind you l wanted a chili cheese dog so bad since l was in town But I said forget it.If they don't appreciate their customers enough to repair the problem Then they don't deserve our business l expressed my opinion to their staff at the drive thru. I told him these pot holes are ridiculous.And you all need to fix it and l left. They use to be the best fast food place years ago. LOVE THIS PLACE. When ever I come into town we have to stop for a chili cheese dog and fried mushrooms and wash it down with a marshmallow pepsi and a twist cone for dessert- order the small because it's huge. A wonderful little place to get ice cream, that is if you like ice cream that topples off the cone before you have the chance to lick it and if you are the kind of person that carries napkins with you because obviously these people are some kind of napkin strike. My family and I went to this little road side nightmare and ordered large vanilla cones. We were given a ton of ice cream in a small cone. The ice cream on one was almost a foot tall, poorly constructed and as was the second one the only advantage to the second one was it was slightly shorter and I think one lick was obtained from it. But of course almost instantly both fell to the ground due to the makers incompetence at basic ice cream cone making. We asked for napkins so that the mess could be cleaned up and were given two...that's right TWO. When we said we needed more then that we were ignored completely. My advice, go to McDonald's just a little bit down the road. At least you will have a stable sweet treat and plenty of napkins. read more
