One of the best parts of the Katy Trail is you blend remote, pure nature, with surprising and fun little stops that pop up throughout the journey. We had zero idea that the KT Caboose had been taken over and was open for business, but man, we were very pleasantly surprised. Not only is it on brand, being a caboose on the former rail line, it's like it was truly made for cyclists needing a nice pit stop. Shady umbrellas, trail views, and nice restrooms make this a total win. We got some ice cream and French press coffee, two of my favorite things in the world. It was wonderful, and I want to emphasize that what I am about to say is not a typo: it was *UNDER* priced. Yes, you read that right. In an era where grocery bills seem to add +$30 every week, and my old Amazon staples have all doubled, this place was actually underpriced. I don't remember exactly but an ice cream sundae with fresh fruit, several cups of coffee, and a big ice cream waffle cone were well under ten bucks. Johnny, feel free to bump them up a bit because we want you to make enough and to stay open for many years, otherwise we'll leave continue to just leave some extra as a tip for you next time in. There aren't a ton of places on the Katy since it's so rural and spread out, but with spots like Meriweather Cafe back west in Rocheport, and this spot, they really shine bright and make an impact. Grateful to have them and can't wait to be back in on our June ride!

Thank you for your service The space is warm and cozy. There a a few spots to sit and enjoy your goodies. The menu offers both sweet and savory options. It's a great place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. The food menu includes Shepards pie, tamale pie, and pot pies, soups, a few sandwiches, quiche, and breakfast options. I'll be passing through again soon and plan to report back on the savory fair. Let's get to the real reason for my visit: dessert pie! The list boasts traditional and specialty pies. They offer individual 4" or full 9" pies. The small pies can be purchased individually or as a 4-pack. I ordered 3 of the four packs to sample as many flavors as possible. I also ordered a full peach and apple crumb. I recommend for an order this size to call ahead. All the pies I purchased were frozen and had to be baked before serving. The mini pies come in an oven safe cardboard tin. I took these to work and heated them up in the toaster oven. They were big hit!! The consensus was that peach was the hands down favorite closely followed by tart cherry. The full size pies come in a traditional pie tin and bake up nicely in the oven. The only downside is waiting for the pie to cool after it comes out of the oven!! The apple crumb also comes very highly recommended. I would be remiss to not mention the drinks and smoothies. You'll need a little something to go with your pie. If you're passing through or even if it's a little out of the way, I recommend stopping in and checking this place out!?

I was raised on cheeseburgers. On the way to grandma's house when we stopped for breakfast and mom and dad had bacon and eggs. I had a cheeseburger. I think that makes me an expert. I had the pleasure of meeting the Owner yesterday and got to hear the story of Dairy delight and the location. I also got to see his hard-working crew at their best. The employee that waited on me was exceptional, Knowledgeable, helpful, happy and it was evident that she was a hard worker. Her name was Amanda. After dinner, I even bought my two of my best friends, the T-shirts from dairy delight. Tonight we made another trip to Washington, Missouri, all four of us, just so that they could wear their T-shirts and taste the delight for themselves. My thanks to the employees who were all friendly and especially the owner and Amanda, We will all be back! Diana and Bruce

We were not disappointed! We have tried nitro ice cream a few times in STL, but at a much higher price than here. For $3.50 you can get a regular sized ice cream (with 1 mix-in) and for $4.50 you can get a large. The premium flavors have a slight upcharge, but it's still very reasonable compared to what you'll pay at Ices Plain & Fancy or somewhere similar.
