As a former BR resident - I'm familiar with this group of restaurants. I don't know if they qualify as a "chain" restaurant or fall under some other category. But the main category I would put them under is "really good". I have been enjoying their food for years and this is the first time I've tried the Slidell iteration and I have to say it is the same standard and quality no matter which one I've gone to and today was no exception. I had the standard Chicken Shawarma plate and it was tasty, hot, and generously portioned. The server was fast and friendly. The bonus was that there was/is a bar that is stocked with at least one decent selection in every spirit category, along with wines and beer. All in all a good experience and decidedly different from the typical offerings to be found here - not that the typical is bad - but the variety is something we need more of here.....Definitely check this place out! read more

Her being the efficient server that she is wrote on the ticket in bold print extra extra crispy chicken, and beef. yet and stl'll the cooking staff did not make extra crispy chicken and beef. At my wits end, I requested to speak to the manager to no avail as the manager instead of acknowledging that his cooking staff doesn't know how to read the tickets tried the pawn the blame on Christie! Because it wasn't enough that she clearly wrote on the paper, extra extra crispy chicken and beef. He stated that she must've FAILED to tell them, which knowing christy was not the case as clearly showed me what she wrote, and I definitely believe her when's she said that she also told them. Instead of acknowledging that his cooking staff was incorrect, and offering to repair the mistake He tried to pawn the blame on her. Needless to say him, and I got into an argument, because instead of acknowledging that the customer was right, he wanted to argue me down and make excuses for the cooking staff (as if servers don't have it bad enough) fed up with his ineptitude i said something to the cooks in Spanish , he got upset Snatched the bag of food from my hand and had the audacity to tell me he hopes to never see you again. It seems as if there's a shortage of Greek and Lebanese restaurants so I jump at every opportunity to check out a new place. I ordered the same appetizer and entree both times I ate at Albasha: the baba ghanjouj and shawarma and gyro plate. The baba ghanouj is delicious, not too smoky and has the perfect amount of Tahini sauce. The shawarma left a little to be desired. It was a little dry for what I expect when I think of shawarma. The beef and lamb, which appeared to be cut straight off the spit, was pure perfection. The plate came with a small serving of hummos, lettuce, rice and, of course, tzatziki sauce. The hummos is particularly special. In the future, I'll order the gyro plate because they do it so well. My second visit, I ordered the Lebanese tea. I expected a tea steeped with sage or mint, but what I got was a tea made with rose water and a lot of lemon. Despite the fact that I'm not fond of the smell or taste of roses, I still would suggest trying it if you've never had it because it's quite popular for a reason. We have a few favorite places to dine when in Slidell, and Albasha is definitely going to be one of them. read more

The food here is so fantastic! My husband and I were visiting the area for a few nights, and after the first night of eating here, we went back the second night as well. We both really love the flavor of lamb, so over two days, together, we tried all of their lamb plates/dishes. The humus, rice and yogurt sauce are all amazing compliments to the lamb itself, and the salads are very tasty too. I tried an appetizer (Kibbi I think... it's a bit similar to falafel), which was so delightfully flavorful. The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated, and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Prices are what you'd expect for a very nice dining experience. We especially enjoyed the music that was being played while we waited for our meal each night. Overall, it's a great dining experience. We'll definitely be back when we return to the area. read more

We apparently arrived maybe 5 minutes after they regained power from a massive power outage to the whole shopping center, but the hostess greeted is promptly, apologized for any delay we might experience in food prep time because they had literally just re-opened, and sat us. Despite the "delay" (I really didn't notice any difference), we got our drinks promptly and the fried cheese appetizer, which is TO DIE FOR, came out soon after. Now if you follow my reviews, you know I love cheese. Hard cheese, soft cheese, white cheese, blue cheese, melty cheese, sprinkled cheese... ALL CHEESE. But this has seriously got to be my favorite, ever. Halloumi is wonderful because it's the only kind of cheese that you can heat, and it still maintains its shape/texture, all the while getting this decadent, crispy salty crust... Just NSFW. Cheese aside, we also got the Mediterranean hummus, which is topped with sliced fresh tomatoes, sundried tomatoes, chick peas, crumbled feta cheese (yes, MORE cheese!)... The fresh tomatoes really give it a nice, fresh bite, and make it a very unique, distinct, flavor. For entrees, the hubs and I got gyro wraps (which come with fries OR hummus and feta cheese salad), but our waitress was super awesome and offered me the ability to do salad/salad since I already had hummus and I wasn't feeling more. Their greek white sauce as they call it, is kind of like a runny tahini sauce, with crumbled feta chunks, so it's the consistency of a sense vinaigrette with, you guessed it, more cheese! I was definitely in heaven and the food was super fresh, super delicious, and despite the "delay" still came out crazy fast. Great job Albashas, I love you so much. read more

We give some places two tries before a bad review, and yes, the second time the food was just as average, and this time had bad service. The waiter who seemed to be the manager or higher up came over to take the order, and then took the menu out of my girlfriends hands and closed the lunch menu page and said there were no lunch combos today. Pretty rude and if we had more time we would have left. When he came back I asked him why on a Tuesday we could not order the lunch specials. He replied that since it was election day, it was a holiday. They don't do lunch combos on holidays and weekends. When the man in the next booth was leaving, he tapped me on the shoulder and laughingly said "Happy Holiday!" He had the same issue. The food is good, but average. The dining area is clean and welcoming. If you are looking forward to lebanese tea, it pails compared to other mediterranean restaurants.
