Two Walleye filets
Mariano S.

The absolute best seafood market in Phoenix. They have everything from freshwater, seawater, and quite possibly the best Tasmanian grass fed steaks plus local poultry. The staff are friendly and very helpful in helping you pick out exactly what you need from their wide selection. I personally recommend the walleye, Halibut cheeks and the Tasmanian steaks.

The fresh display case!

Did a search for fresh seafood markets in the Valley and Alaskan Pride was one of the first ones to come up. I'm still trying new stuff on my new smoker and really wanted to give salmon a try. I absolutely love salmon, but wanted something fresh and wild caught. I mean, that farm-raised junk you find at Costco or any supermarket just isn't real salmon. It just isn't. My wife and I drove here this afternoon after work from Peoria. It's a convenient location not too far from the 51 off Indian School Rd. Super clean parking lot, very clean entrance and a small space that does not smell fishy at all. We were immediately greeted when we walked in and it's obvious as a small business, they care about their customer base. Unfortunately, they did not have any fresh salmon in the display case. :( BUT I did walk out with a wild-caught (but frozen) chunk of King Salmon and a chunk of Sockeye. Their frozen selection is still impressive with a vast array of seafood you're not going to find at Fry's or Safeway. I intend to put the salmon I got from them on my smoker tomorrow, but I have no doubt it will be tasty! The coloring of the fillets are awesome and do not at all smell fishy. Despite being frozen, they look amazing. They're not at all freezer burnt and look as though they went from the boat right to the freezer. I am looking forward to dinner tomorrow! I would not at all hesitate to recommend Alaskan Pride if you're interested in obtaining some awesome wild-caught seafood! Obviously, you get what you pay for so if you're looking for something fresh and/or wild-caught, this is your place to be. Thanks for the fillets and I shall be back!

Love this place! Great photos on the wall of the owners fishing in Alaska. We purchased a filet of halibut and it was delicious, baked in the oven with just olive oil, a little garlic, and lemon juice. They flash freeze the fish on the ship, so when it gets here, it still has that fresh taste. I also love how they mark the date the fish was caught. My halibut had 4/27/17 stamped on the vacuum sealed wrap, and it was perfect. I'm excited to try their other fish. Besides all the lovely seafood, they have grass-fed beef and pork. Didn't spend a lot of time admiring those containers, as I was too attracted to the seafood. I'll definitely be back here for more!

With fish this good it's easy to show that Alaskan Pride! This is quite possibly the best resource for seafood you can get from Alaska, right here in Arizona! Most of the fish here is frozen, but they do have fresh selections (I believe they had some sole out for sale when I was here). In addition to fish, they have shellfish and grass fed meat, all very high quality products. I asked the friendly lady at the register if the salmon was sashimi grade and which kinds of salmon were the best for raw preparations. She confirmed that it was good for sashimi and on a later conversation with the shop owner, I found out their salmon is frozen on the spot after the fish is caught and stored at -40 F for 2-2.5 weeks which exceeds the recommendations for freezing fish to kill off any parasites. The young lady helping me said that the king salmon was probably the most popular for sushi and sashimi but she did have a client that prefers the silver salmon so I figured I'd get one of each. I tried the king salmon first. I took it out of its vacuum pack and let it slow thaw in the fridge for a day in a container (The recommended method to thaw for raw preparation). When I took it out of the container it looked perfect. There was no liquid oozing from the fish, it had a deep orange color, and it smelled so fresh, as if it had just come from the sea. Turning the fish over, I was amazed also at the bright, silvery color of the skin. I think the only time I'll see fish this nice looking is if I were to catch it myself! The taste was very clean and pure. I think it is a leaner meat than Atlantic salmon so it wasn't as buttery tasting but I preferred the overall flavor of the king compared to Atlantic. The silver salmon didn't taste as good as the king for sashimi so I made it into a delicious poke. It was also extremely fresh tasting with bright, gleaming skin. I also got a fresh frozen bag of sardines. I'm excited to use them in a dish since I've only had the canned kind. With the high quality products they sell and friendly service this is definitely a place I'll be frequenting for some of the best seafood in Arizona.

Fresh oysters.

I recently stocked up on seafood from Alaskan Pride Seafood and wanted to wait until I tried everything before writing my review. Parking is my biggest complaint of the visit, the lot is TINY and hard to get in and out of! Service is ok, but a little slow, there was one guy who was working the cash and serving customers. The guy who helped us was a nice guy, but tends to get distracted easily. I think the parking lot would improve if people were in and out faster. The salmon was to die for! The catfish was very good, but definitely about double price of anywhere else and didn't really seem any different. The Walleye was delicious, but lots of bones. I actually ended up having to get some small tweezers off of Amazon to extract them all. The shrimp are amazing and a truly unique offering. The oysters were delicious, however in the batch of the dozen we had two spoiled ones - yuck (which brings my to my other biggest gripe). They have a card you get stamped to help you save money, especially if you visit often which is nice - though I would rather just have lower prices (less overhead for everyone involved). They do have a handful of fresh items, but I would say 95% of their stock is frozen. I love the way the frozen items are packaged - it really helps the product avoid freezer burn.

My boyfriend and I visited here to buy oysters and yellowtail. They have a good variety of seafood. I do recommend their selection. However, we were disappointed most recently for two reasons. First, a customer walked in without a mask. The female employee didn't say anything. The space is very small, so I felt uncomfortable. Second, the employee was in a bad mood. She wasn't friendly at all. We walked away upset. It's possible she was just having a bad day, but she really didn't want to be there and made our experience more unpleasant. I'd like to go back still to support them.

We've purchased and enjoyed fish from this company a handful of times... all from the Old Town Farmers Market. From salmon to black cod medallions and most recently, black cod fillet, we've never had a bad piece of fish. I see on their website that they offer several other kinds of seafood, and that they have a presence at other Valley farmers markets too... you'll find them doing the circuit from Wednesdays through Saturdays. You do pay a bit of a premium for this product; it's not cheap... but it is some of the best quality fish I've had - and I admit, we're not the best cooks, but we haven't even screwed this fish up! Thanks for the recipes and tips, guys - we'll see you soon!

First time here. We were looking for some fresh sea scallops for lunch today. Ordered a pound of large scallops (10 frozen) thawed them out, cooked them up and they were delicious.

Big Pot of goodness!

Was assured by Cedar that issues with cleanliness and safety for customers had been fixed. As for the quality and bang for your buck experience, I'd put Alaskan at 100%. Thier crab, lobster and shrimp were spot on! I used a baseball for scale on our seafood boil.

Hello! Unfortunately Perch is a hard one for us to get. We have had it a couple of times, pretty small sizes, so I'll talk to our suppliers and I'll try to send you a message if they have anything available. Thanks for reaching out!

Do you carry frozen fish like sole, flounder and sand dabs?

Hello! We have frozen Petrale Sole fillets currently. We don't stock whole, but they are often available

Do you carry American, wild caught shrimp headless IQF?

Yes we do. We stock shrimp from Alaska, Gulf of Mexico(Louisiana), and Rockypoint. All wild. The Rockypoint ones are block frozen in 1 lb packages, the other 2 are IQF in 1lb packs.

Do you have whole king crab?

Do you or can you get milk fed veal?

Hello. We do not carry any veal. Thanks for checking in!

Do you have both frozen and un frozen of the same items?

Sometimes. This week we have fresh Chilean Seabass, and we also have it frozen. Frequently we have Ahi both ways, sometimes Halibut, salmon, rockfish as well. It varies weekly.

Do you sell sushi grade fish here?

Hello. Yes, we have several popular options for sushi, searing, or poke bowls.

Do you carry freshh(not canned) blue crab meat or know anyone who does?

Hello. Not currently. We have whole Blue Crab offered sometimes, typically frozen, but not the meat. Only canned right now. I haven't seen it around elsewhere either. Sorry!

Do they carry soft shell clams?

Not as a stock item, but we can often get them so just call if you're interested.

I rarely, if ever, order salmon in a restaurant now because it just can't compare to the King salmon I get here.

Theirs is the hot buttered with chives sprinkled on top and a bag of chips. There were Huge pieces of lobster meat and a lot of it. So much so that pieces fell out while trying to wrap my lips around it. I also bought a pound of Faroe Island Salmon that I'm excited to grill. It was very cool of the Tap Room (next door) to allow me to eat my lunch on their picnic tables outside without ordering a drink. I came after lunch so it wasn't busy. I won't sugar coat it, Nelson's is pricey. The roll was $34. However they have fish that you can't find elsewhere. The ahi tuna was beautiful but I already set my mind to the salmon. I was surprised they even had guanciale (pork jowel) which is sought after in Italian pasta dishes. It's a bit of a drive for me but next time I want a toasted buttery lobster roll I will come to Nelson's!

My father, a Journeyman electrician had friends who farmed and sold their own pork. None better! Rusty Nail's pork chops, especially their porterhouse cuts, are even better than the ones I recall so fondly from my youth. Tender, perfectly marbled and flavorful like none other. They're not "grocery store" cuts. Unlike when I was young these chops can be grilled to medium or medium-well if preferred, preserving their juices and maximizing flavor. These too are now on our dinner favorites rotation. Simple seasoning with salt and pepper is all that's needed, although next time we're trying their seasonings. We will continue shopping here regularly. We've referred every friend who enjoys value and great meals too--in other words we have suggested to everyone we know to give these great people (and local ownership!) a try. Without fail our friends are truly grateful.

Very helpful and friendly employees 4. The loaded and twice baked potatoes when they don't have much pepper (just a personal preference). Just reheat slowly in foil until soft and melty. Trust me. They are delicious. If you want one with less pepper just choose one with less black specks. 4. Amazing price when they have a sale. For their anniversary they had 10 pounds of prime beef (their choice) for $110! Phenomenal price and great cuts were in my mystery box. Cons 1. Save your receipts just in case you need to return something. I bought two whole chickens that ended up smelling off/bad (rare instance that this happened here). I was able to return them because I luckily still had the receipt. Wouldn't have been able to return nor exchange without the receipt.
