These guys did a great job on my wheels. Made sure it was done right and made sure I was happy with the results.

This was BEFORE I had taken my RIM to them.

Josh and the crew did a fantastic job on the wheels I brought in for powder coating. Also ordered and mounted the new tires.

KD Discount Tire - Paint flaked off less than 6 months after purchase

    KD Discount Tire

    (43 reviews)

I've been meaning for a long time to update my review for KD... less than 6 months after…read morepurchasing my special order rims here the black paint inexplicably started flaking off. My husband and I both have jobs that are difficult to get off of during the week. Since KD isn't open during the week, this has been a perpetual challenge. Additionally, we are a single car family and my husband needs the car for his job, so its almost impossible for us to address things that we don't feel are very important. Were we pissed? Absolutely. But it was esthetic, so lesson learned. But KD had promised us free tire changes with the life if the tires due to our purchase of custom rims, so we figured we would cut our losses since 2 changes a year equals over $200 a year. We figured KD was nice and they had earned customers for life with service like that. We liked the idea of buying bougie rims and tires her for our baby. Fast forward to our first seasonal change. Everything went fine. We have the receipt to prove it. But subsequent efforts to schedule a change over proved too challenging due to our work schedules so we stopped going here. Periodically we would call to see if they ever added weekend hours just during the seasonal tire over time, but sadly no. You'd think maybe they would do a Tuesday-Saturday thing or something.... but nope. Anyway, that's not what was the clincher that pissed me off. Finally in 2025 my husband has some seniority at work and is able to get a day off during the week off and drops the car off for the seasonal change over. And when he picks it up they charge him. And when he reminds them about our rims and their policy they refuse to honor it. What makes it worse is he posts his concerns Yelp, he gets a PHONE CALL from KD asking him to retract his review and they don't acknowledge that they every had a policy regarding free mounting and balancing. I call bullshit. I have the damn receipt. You can't put tires on a car without mounting and balancing. That's idiotic. Are you used to dealing with people who have no knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance?!?! I really thought this was one of the few quality vehicles places in town and am very disappointed to learn that is just another bunch of crooks who lie and swindle. There's nothing discount about this place. You want discount, go to Costco or something. I am the kind of person that prefers to support smaller business and pay a little more. But not if I'm gonna get lied to and cheated. Fck that.

Great service attitude! Did not purchase tires, had service. Would definitely go back.read more

My 27 year old RV wasn't handling right on the way down from Fairbanks. I was referred to one place…read morebut I guess the guy was too successful because he blew me off. The next place I went to that had good reviews simply couldn't fit me in but the owner was nice enough to call around for me. The first place he came was also busy and couldn't fit me in but Chris at the next place, The Alignment Center, was able to get me in that morning. The mechanic checked everything out and we found that in addition to a flat inner tire on the rear dually the brake pads on one side were too tight and binding. They fixed those items for a grand total of $100. Then I made the mistake of asking the mechanic if he had time to replace the combo speed sensor and rear ABS sensor in the differential. I had tried to do this earlier in the week but my little breaker bar was too small for the job. The mechanic said sure he could do that. That's when things started to get interesting. We are taking about a 27 year old corroded bolt holding an $18 part in place. He tried everything but flame to get it out but it wasn't budging. Finally, by the end of the day the only thing left to do was to drop both holding tanks, pull the tires and drop the the rear axle, then pull the plate off the rear differential and drive the bolt out from inside the differential. But, it was quitting time by now and this had to wait until the next day when I brought the RV back in and everything went smoothly then. But, talk about a mechanic not only knowing how to do this but not quitting and giving up. This is where experience is worth every penny you pay for, because I've turned my share of wrenches in life and sometimes you get that occasional stuck bolt that once you've started you can't quit on. So cudos to The Alignment Center and their great mechanics.

I did not particularly want to engauge it on the dry summer pavement and scrub the tires around corners to see. I was too lazy to jack up all four tires to test it out. I asked them to check the whole thing out. If this place was unscrupulous, they could have snagged me for a new controlbox, a new electronic transmission actuator and more. In the end all they did was replace my 4x4 engaged light. and my differential fluid, as requested by me. Keep in mind the owner is on site. Unlike many other places. Other posters have issues. 4x4 cars take a beating up here in Alaska Good work isn't free. I personally am never upset if a mechanic discovers stuff wrong with my car that I was unaware of I am pleasantly surprised. And not upset and take out the information on the messenger. --------------- Way to go Young's gear!!!! I wanted to buy a " new" old 4x4 I found it on Craigslist. I drive it. I liked it. I called up Young's and without notice!!!! Asked if they'd look over the 4x4 components. They did. I paid shop rate for a mechanic to test drive, and jack up and check all that Young's is good at fixing They noticed a leaky shock and old t case fluid That's it. They thought the car was a good buy. I've had it 6 months now. No probs! Thanks Greg! And the guys at Youngs!

Young's ordered a new front drive shaft which worked well, but after 9 months, it caused significant vibration. They also ensured the replacement shaft would not have the same problem before installation. Thanks to Chris and the Young's Gear team for covering a problem that was outside their control, and made the process very smooth despite a part failure. I highly recommend!

So there was others forming another line because they sometimes add 20 more people on top of the 40 already chosen stickers. As we was waiting there in line for 1.5 hours this older lady was there acting as if she was drill Sargent and controlling and telling everyone how to stand and where to park ect. Finally she got into some lady's face literally up in her face and was yelling at her and this lady kept saying get out of my face get out of my face. She kept saying no I don't need to. So this lady walked away. As everyone was standing in line waiting they all talked amongst each other saying how they have never been to a company to where it was this hostile especially if we are all standing outside. This was my 1st time coming to this company and my last time after witnessing this lady getting yelled at and this lady trying to make herself look like she was in charge as the owner showed up. She even said you need to tell this lady you have me in charge. I didn't think it was appropriate for her to get into her face or yell at every paying customer paying for their own tires here. Next year I'm going somewhere else. Because if that was me I would've walked away but this lady handled it so good and professional. After we all got checked in I approached this lady and asked if she was OK. She said yes. This was totally uncalled for how it was handles. But she already purchased her tires days prior to this craziness. I felt so bad for her. I hope the owners got this resolved or spoke to the lady who was acting like she owned the company.
