They could not have been more responsive and eager to reconcile the issue. They totally took care of us. They could not have been more pleasant and accommodating. I've been renting here for about two years now. It's been an average experience that just dropped…read moreto poor. Going back a little, I called in my usual monthly payment back in October. After finalizing my October payment, I asked the man about the deadline for my next payment. He said I was 'good until December'. I asked him about November, and he said I made enough payments to cover November, so I was 'good until December'. But now I'm confused because I'm here calling in my payment for December as per what the man said in October, but this other guy's talking to me about a $70 late fee. $20 for the first few days then another $50 after. Apparently they sent two letters, but the first letter must've gotten lost in the mail as I never got it. However, I got the second letter today saying I owe for November, and that the late fee was $70 and if I didn't pay immediately, they would move forward with 'remedies available to them'. I asked the staff member if I could speak to his manager, but apparently the manager doesn't usually hang around on site. How convenient. This is the first time I've been this late on a payment, and it's because of bad information that their staff member gave me. Instead of correcting their mistake, they're expecting me to pay for their staff members' incompetence and holding my property until I pay for their mistake. The staff member on the phone was quick to point out it wasn't him, but another staff member. It's really disgusting how they don't hold any kind of accountability for the errors of their staff members, and still expect customers to pay for THEIR mistakes. I'm cringing to think how quick he distanced himself from his co-worker, trying to cover his own @$$. He kept bringing up some other lady who didn't want to pay her storage, as if trying to equate me to her. So I cut his @$$ off and told him "I don't know who she is, and she's got nothing to do with me. I'm calling about my situation and the fact that your staff member put me in this predicament with no manager for me to speak to". Now I'm thinking to just get my property out of there and move over to the new U-Haul storage facility right around the corner. I don't care if they cost a little more. These guys boast being 'affordable', but after two years with them I'm not impressed. Especially when it would snow in, and I can't even drive to the back to my storage unit. They have low rates but you get what you pay for so caveat emptor. My suggestion, avoid these clowns.

A young driver attempted to follow me in without entering her own code. I stopped my car to impede her progress. She yelled from her car, not rudely, that she lived inside and asked me to drive on. I told her "I don't know that" and remained in place. She then backed up, successfully entered her own code, and drove in. Any serious security plan requires authorized users not to let anyone piggyback past a secure gate. Surely anyone who LIVES inside a storage facility would know this and respect that simple rule. Yet this happened. Given this loose attitude towards security and the general dilapidated condition of the units, I do not have confidence in Arctic Self Storage. I will find somewhere else to store my belongings.
