She did a medical massage where she really tried to release the muscles around the knot and with my chronic headaches, it really worked! She tells you what she's doing and always checks in re the pressure and the pain. I don't need the fancy spa type massages, I would way prefer this. And $90 for 90 minutes is quite the deal! She was very accommodating with my time schedule. Location: In the small building called "The salon" with parking outside. Price: $60 for 60 min, $90 for 90 minutes. She only takes cash just FYI.

I'm not someone who typically writes negative reviews -- I usually only leave positive ones -- but…read moreI feel this needs to be shared so others don't go through the same experience. I first contacted Affordable Massage Therapy (Tammy) on December 11 and over the next several weeks had multiple appointments scheduled, confirmed, and then canceled by her. Appointments were changed, rescheduled, or canceled at short notice due to scheduling mistakes, family emergencies, and illness. At one point, she stated she deletes all text messages, which made it difficult to keep any continuity in scheduling. In total, my appointment was canceled three separate times by the provider, including once just hours before a scheduled session. During this process, her rates also increased significantly compared to when I originally booked. After the last cancellation, I looked more closely at her reviews and noticed a consistent pattern in the one-star google reviews describing the same issues -- frequent cancellations and lack of reliability. While she does have positive reviews, it seems those experiences depend heavily on actually being able to keep an appointment. If reliability and respect for your time are important to you, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. For what it's worth, when my appointment was canceled yet again, I was able to book last-minute with Chris at Root Massage, who provided the best massage I've had in Anchorage. The difference in professionalism and consistency was night and day.

I get a relaxing massage that knocks me out and my wife more of a corrective massage. I think the massage is so good because her technique is very unique, she told me it's called "Mel-ssage" lol! He was late to his appointment exactly 15 minutes (he works in Wasilla and was driving from there). We both attempted to call starting at 5:30p to let the therapist know he was on his way. When he showed up, the lights and door were shut. I received an email that was very condescending and humiliating pretty much insinuating that we looked like "scammers" (yes, she called me that). Never once did anyone call us - not one single phone call. And on the day we were late, the therapist never called or checked messages. Just left and charged us the full amount. I am appalled at the way they handled this. This isn't about the money. This is about making a new client feel down right humiliated. I'm still in shock at how rude they were in their email and the fact that they never responded back to me. Shame on you for treating a new client like this.

Place is clean and simple/peaceful. It looks like there's chair massage up front. They offer couples massage also. I was led to a room to undress and lay face down. The therapist asked if I liked medium or hard pressure so I told her my preference. She did a great job with where I need it to be hard vs medium. Warning - at some point the therapist is likely to get on the bed to grab the bars on the ceiling to massage you with their leg/feet! This isn't unheard of in Asian massages but more novel for Western massage. Barefoot massage has broken that barrier for Alaska I think - and let me tell you it feels good, especially if you need that additional pressure. Surprisingly, only minor soreness after given the pressure she used. They take credit card too!

This hands down was the best massage I have ever received!…read more Tammy and Travis are truly a pair that vibe well with each other (stay with me here). For me it's important to have a feel of cohesiveness, trust, & comfort; especially when dealing with the vulnerability that you have to kind of surrender during a massage. My husband and I had a couples massage that was purchased off of Groupon. He was paired with Tammy and I Travis. Travis hit areas that I had no clue I had pain in. You can tell he really listens to your body's reactions in response to his manipulations. He worked a lot with pressure point release while still maintaining a fluidity of movement. Whereas me being a (what my husband and family calls me) modern day hippie my husband he is NOT he likes to forget the science and "hoopla" behind it and just wants a sound relaxing, put to sleep massage. That was expectation was not only hit but surpassed by Tammy's gentle touch. When talking with them you can tell they both have a genuine respect of the body. They both understand the "how" along with "what" it needs to heal. But wait it gets better! On top of that they understand the financial strain that massages can carry so they like to throw in little perks here and there to help "build up" your massage. I'm just saying.
