There's a JCPenny as the big box store and they have a lot of good housewares and clothes often on sale but that's about as big as it gets. Theres more clothing stores and specialty stores. I did think that there's pretty adequate security in this mall walking around and their numbers are posted up all over to call in case you see something fit for such a call. Parking costs money but it's ridiculously cheap compared to other malls in the country. I paid $2 for maybe under two hours.

Overall, this mall sucks giant donkey balls, but there are a handful of stores I go here specifically for. But especially since the shitty Carrs closed and the Sears has been sliced in half, the mall has pretty much imploded. I do like their "farmer's market" on Wednesdays and Saturdays when the weather is inclement. And since this mall is very centrally located and has ample parking, sometimes I pop in on my way home from work. But no doubt, if this was in an out of the way location for me, I absolutely would not go here. Honestly, they should just raze this whole place and start over since it's such a prime location. Good things about this place: Creative Chaos and Lemon Tree Gifts - literally two of my favorite chick gift stores in all of Anchorage. I parked close enough to a door to make it in safely and saw a cart in the hallway and was so excited cause I could not get my walker out of the car to come in. I began pushing it around the mall and was so happy until the 2 female security folks began harassing me. I tried to explain why I was pushing the cart and they didn't have an ounce of empathy and wanted to take the cart from me. when I asked if I could at least push it back toward the door where I was parked, they would not allow it. I felt extremely humiliated and both of them were very mean and angry and were trying to instigate conflict with me, they were bullying me. This saddens me as I have enjoyed past visits but probably will never return again.

Since then, PetSmart, Kohl's, Sports Authority, Best Buy, and Lowe's have opened in this center. Everything and anything you need for gadgets, food, electronics, home textiles and more! Red Robin smartened up and moved across the street from Northway. I haven't been to the movie theater yet, but it's the only IMAX in the whole state.

Cheese in my opinion as a kid), Safeway (before it merged with Carrs), and the original Orange Julius among others drew large crowds on the weekends. Now this place has the look of a post-apocalyptic zombie film with its dark, dimly lit corridors, empty storefronts, and drugged-out deadbeats off the street wandering aimlessly in the halls or sitting on the benches with blank stares. Actual shoppers are a rare sight in the hallways unless you go to larger stores like Carrs or the Burlington Coat Factory. There are some bright spots in the mall like Planet Fitness (which is a lot larger than the midtown location), Excalibur Sports behind the gym which is a great place to buy pro sports items like jerseys, flags, as well as tickets to sporting events anywhere in the country, and Hood Wings down the hallway which has a good selection of chicken wings on their menu if the craving hits. However, I can't shake the feeling that all these businesses are on borrowed time if the property owners won't make any effort to improve the mall and renovate it to attract new businesses and ultimately improve this part of town in the long run. Back in the day there used to be only a couple of theaters, and I would come here for some cinematic adventure. There was a popular clothing store that has long left this physical plane, as well as bookstores, new age crystal store, a bead supply store, and The Cauldron restaurant. I come here every few months for beauty torture treatments, but I still can picture the way it was before the big change and the facelift Sadler's gave the main entrance.
