Always a smooth sailing with Alaska Airlines here in SNA. I did everything online through the app, if I go international, I had to checkin in person to shown my ID. Staff are nice and great. Sometime if I'm lucky, then I could get my choice of seat or upgrade (due to statues).. Majority of time, they are on time and efficient and courteous at the gate. read more

So we were picking up grandkids under age, and we'd never done that before. So we went to the Alaska airline counter. Both Erica and Marsiel were very helpful. They explained the procedure both coming and going for kids traveling without an adult. I got a pass to go in to meet them real easily, but my husband did not. He was very frustrated as to why not. So when we took them back, we went to the counter, and Ricardo helped us. Everyone was very helpful and friendly, but again, my husband, I guess he has a too common of a name and there might've been an issue with somebody with that name. Don't understand as we fly all the time with different airlines and then never had any problems. Anyway I took the kids in and passed them off to a flight attendant, well worth the $100 for peace of mind. read more

This is my first time flying Alaskan Airlines. It was recently bought out by Hawaiian Airlines. I actually have a Hawaiian account, so I was able to book this flight through them. And surprisingly, it was cheaper doing this, than the price it would have been to book directly through Alaska with my man's Alaska account. No delays ever experienced with this one. Thank goodness. I've flown Alaska Airlines several times in the past both for business and personal travel. I honestly cannot recall even one bad thing about Alaska Airlines except for a hard landing on the flight back home, which I plan to write about on the SeaTac Alaska Airlines business page. It's not clear to me if a business listing for Alaska Airlines at a certain airport should be for your departing flight or for your arriving flight at that airport. To make it clear to the readers, my rating is for the departing flight from John Wayne Airport. Check-in was smooth. Since I didn't have any checked bags, I simply went to a kiosk to print out my boarding pass, and off to security I went! Remember your six-character confirmation code for super easy hassle-free check-in! After going through a TSA Security Checkpoint, the gate to my Alaska Airlines flight to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac) was just steps away, and I immediately sat at a seat facing McDonalds. Even though I could have gotten a Breakfast McMuffin, I wasn't really hungry, so I passed the time by utilizing the Orange County airport's free WiFi for my cellular device. Boarding starts between 30-40 minutes prior to takeoff. Pay careful attention and listen to the announcement that your boarding group is ready to board. I was in Group B, and when I heard the announcement, I was practically the only one to step in line. Or did my ears deceive me?? Luckily no. One of the agents asked another if she had called for Boarding Group B as in Boy. Yes she did, and since I was already in line, I was pretty much the first passenger in economy class to scan my boarding pass, stow my carry-on in the overhead stowage bin, and get settled into my seat. Not quite first class, but first in economy class has a nice ring to it :) After boarding, it took a while for the remaining passengers to fill up the cabin, but there were still a handful of empty seats in the plane. In fact, the row directly across from me only had one passenger! My row had two other passengers, which kind of confused me because I didn't remember seeing that many available seats when I checked on the Alaska Airlines app the previous evening. Anyways, I won't dock a star for that. I just wanted to throw it out there to let readers know they can check for available seats in the hours leading up to their scheduled flight. Be sure to look carefully to see which side of the airplane you're on. A and F are windows seats. B and E are middle seats. C and D are aisle seats. Don't sit on the wrong side of the plane! The placards directly beneath the overhead stowage bins will tell you. The flight from Santa Ana, CA to Seattle, WA was pretty uneventful for the most part. There are some cards on the back of each seat, and you can peruse these cards to learn more about safety procedures and what food/drinks are offered, either complimentary or for purchase. About halfway through the flight, the flight attendants wheel carts down the aisle to service the passengers. One handed out bags of pretzel braids alongside a napkin. Two others were asking each passenger for his/her preferred drink choice. In the past, Orange Juice was my go to, but on this particular flight, when the passenger next to me mentioned she'd like coffee, I hurriedly looked through one of the aformentioned cards to see if it was complimentary or not. Since it was a 7 AM flight, I could definitely use a cup of Joe, and once I saw it was indeed complimentary, I chose coffee as well. Definitely helped me get through the busy first day of my temporary assignment in the Pacific Northwest! The flight arrived earlier than expected, and a smooth landing later, I was just a rental car away from being able to report to my temporary assignment that same morning. Seamless check-in and boarding process, courteous flight attendants, and a smooth flight. What more can I ask for? How about miles to my Mileage Plan, Alaska Airlines' one and only loyalty program?! Alaska airlines took over $1000.00 from me because I had an issue that wasn't completed before a year had passed after I had booked a flight. I had a drivers license issue that was from 10 years before I booked and paid for the flight. I have since have gotten my business handled and absolute legal, but I can't get my money back from the airline. The flight paid for was cancelled and with plenty of notice before the date of the flight. But, I didn't book a new flight within the year. They don't care if you can afford it in that time span. As long as you can't book a new trip, they get paid and to hell with the public. read more

Ok, so I will say prior to this, Alaska has been great. From working in customer service for most of my life, you realize that one significant experience can ruin the entire perception of a brand/company/person/etc. no matter how many neutral experiences you have had. So here I am. I booked a flight Dec.3rd for a flight on Christmas day to return home to see my family up in Portland. I'm currently in Southern CA for work and I travel a bit, pop around from city to city, have to take fairly impromptu flights frequently. I just had one of the more important events of my professional life shift times and cannot be changed. And to miss this event would destroy about two and a half years' worth of work, or possibly end up in looking for another job. So now, on top of working Christmas Day, I'm forced with the task of leaving this event that is scheduled until 6pm, to make it from Orange County to Downtown San Diego for a 7pm flight. For those of you unaware of the distance, it's about an hour an a half drive. Which obviously results in me missing that flight. Now I don't make a ton of money doing what I do, and I must have selected the cheapest ticket available thinking I'd have maybe a week, or 48 hours at the least, to make a same airline change in case this event runs long/changes times/etc. I avoided the refundable option ticket when I purchased, not realizing a NO-CHANGE AT ALL policy, for any reason, even a full 7 days in advance (today is the 17th), was also what I was purchasing. Now, I understand there are company policies, but if someone comes to you with a problem, they are kind, calm, not pushy or argumentative, and you show zero empathy whatsoever, that's a little alarming to say the least. I even wanted to double check with someone else (requested a supervisor), just in case that particular "customer service" person was having a bad day. The supervisor (Sue) was just as stone cold as the rep before her. No apologies, no 'wishing there's something I could do, but that's company policy,' just a cold, borderline sarcastic "good luck," as we ended the call. It just sucks. The feeling sucks, this interaction sucked, the fact that I'm going to be out a couple hundred dollars for the holidays sucks. Who knows how much tickets are to book now, so could be out a thousand dollars, which is essentially cancelling any sort of fun I thought I could have for the holidays or for next year. And like I said, I don't make a ton of money, so if a couple hundred dollars isn't a huge deal for you, or if you don't really care about how people treat you, then this review isn't for you & I apologize you've read this far. But overall just a disappointing experience for a company that I previously thought emphasized customer service. Won't be using Alaska going forward. read more

We had delays & my hat is off to the pilots that flew around Seattle Washington as well. We had 30 mph winds for a couple hours! The service and the pilots did an unbelievable job! I have always had positive experiences when flying with Alaska Airlines. Due to Covid, one of my flight times got changed to an inconvenient time for my return flight. I went online and used the Alaska chat support and it was easy for them to change my fly time AND DAY to the one that I preferred. Honestly when I first booked my flight eons ago, Covid wasn't a pandemic yet so I planned on spending more time in Portland to explore, but I didn't really care to stay any longer and pay for extra hotel stay when travels are so limited at this time. Everything worked out for the best and I really appreciated the customer service and flexibility from Alaska Airlines. Covid Safety - An attempt to leave seats in between, although not always possible. On board heap filters remove 99.9% of airborne contaminates. Enhanced cleaning between flights. Safe electrostatic sprayers that disinfects. Limited on board services. Access to masks and sanitizing wipes. Alaska also partners with T-Mobile so on each of my flight, I had a free hour of tweet, texts and browsing functionality. I basically napped for an hour and browsed for an hour and BAM I arrived at my destination. Staff is always friendly and courteous on my flights. I love the cookies they give and I always opt for the Seagrams ginger ale when flying. I have no business in the pacific north west so I have no purpose to fly Alaska any time soon... but if I ever need to, I would definitely pick Alaska among all the airlines when possible. read more

We've been using Alaska for the past 20 years to travel mostly to Seattle. We 've signed up with Alaska Visa to enjoy the free check bag and the $99 companion ticket. Today, this is the first time this airline charged us for the bag if you use the companion or mileage ticket. We were told that the policy was always there (in the fine print) but recently Alaska decided to enforce it. What?! You can use mileage or companion ticket but check bag is NOT included. One more way to charge travelers. read more

They ignored requests, rolled their eyes, and spoke rudely to non-white passengers while being friendly and respectful to others. To make a long story short: Our family had the trip from hell last Jan. Alaska offered us each $300 in credits as compensation for our ruined trip. This week I attempted to book a new trip using the "credits" before they expire only to find out they are actually "discount codes" which cover base fare alone--a whopping $95 of savings. I decided to reach out to the airline to give them yet another chance to rectify their mistake. What a mistake! I called the airline, texted, and used the chat option only to receive the most unprofessional responses and explanations. I also wasted over 5 hours of my life that I will never get back. We will let their chump change "offer"go, and instead we will support airlines who value their customers and take accountability when they make errors. Please do not support this airline if you expect even a basic level of decency and respect. Karma is real. Even in business. read more

So, this review is coming from someone that doesn't make reviews unless I really have a positive experience. I was planning to fly to DC for my Bday trip from 9-14 to 9-18 2024, as I'm looking around the web, I came across all kinds of pricing and airlines then all of a sudden ALASKA airlines popped up, keep in mind I never flew ALASKA. Then I came across VACATION PACKAGES from Alaska which I found out they partnered with EXPEDIA which made me skeptical. Fast forward, I booked vacation package from Alaska, FLIGHTS+HOTEL+CAR BOOMED I took a chance $846 total 4 nights at a 3 star hotel in Maryland, with round trip non stop flights. Before we left I made sure that all my bookings were confirmed and accurate because I was skeptical about Alaska partnering with Expedia and to my surprise, everything was confirmed and good to go. Alaska always include carry on which was good, I didn't pay for seats, they sat me and my GF together, the plane was clean from LAX, free entertainment with the onboard offerings which was cool, tons of tv, movies to watch so you don't have to worry about that, they gave snacks for free, soda were free, you can also purchase alcoholic drinks if you want. So I landed at the airport, took the shuttle to the rental area, THRIFTY RENTAL, the representative took my DRIVER LICENSE, he took a 200 deposit, then he said everything is prepaid exit to this door and get to the car yesssssssss, they reserve a 2025 KIA SOUL with 200 miles in it, car was clean, new with a full tank of gas. Now to the hotel, like I said we always get what we paid for, the hotel was OLD, king bed, water pressure was weak, sink wasn't draining as fast, but for the most part the room was huge with king bed, my point is, the package which I was skeptical of was legit with no issues.....I will do it again with Alaska on my upcoming trip to Chicago. Why being bumped up to first class is not always a good thing. We had gotten a $47 ticket from San Jose to Santa Ana on Alaska Airlines, and flew both times on an Embraer 175 twin jet, short commuter plane. Wife and I were bumped up to first class seating during our flight from Santa Ana to San Jose. We got to board first, me carrying the stow away under the seat carryon, and the wife a carryon for the overhead compartment. I got to our seat in row 1, and discovered that there was no place for the luggage to go under the seat, as there was no seat in front of me. So hauled it up to the overhead compartment. Meanwhile the wife behind me, had disappeared, with the other folks in first class putting their luggage in the overhead bins. By the time the wife had made it onto the plane, the overhead bins were filled. Turned out that the gate keepers had stopped her at the front desk, and asked her to put her luggage in the luggage cage next to the gate. Took repeated tries with the wife discarding item after item, before the luggage would fit, as the cage was only 10" wide. Meanwhile, half the plane had embarked by the time she had gotten through. Turned out that there is a reason for the 10" allowance for thickness of luggage, as the overhead bins can only accept luggage no thicker than 10" through the opening. Anytime you fly on an airline with a 2-2 seating configuration, you cannot bring carryon luggage more than 10" thick. I put the wife's luggage in my spot on the overhead bin, and took the day pack and gave it to the stewardess who stored it in the crew luggage compartment at the front of the plane. Another thing is that aircraft with 2-2 seating do not have ovens, so no hot food served on their flights. At least this small commuter jet did store luggage up to 24" long in the overhead bins, something the Bombadier q400 turboprop planes could not do. Other amenities in the Embraer 175 include recharging stations between the seats and reclining seats. This was not my first time I struggled to fit luggage in the overhead bin. Took an Air Canada Bombadier CRJ705 flight, where passengers put their carry on luggage into a luggage cage, at the boarding gate, with dimensions 21.5" x 15.5" x 9". Luggage wider than 9" will not fit in the overhead bins. That time I took stuff out of the luggage, and placed the luggage in the cage well before the flight in front of the gate attendants. When it came time to board, they waved me through. Lesson not learned will be repeated. Another case where an inch can make a difference, and we are not talking about the bedroom! read more

My wife purchased a one way ticket in advance from Santa Rosa, California to LAX. Due to a personal emergency she had to fly a day earlier. Alaska Airlines refused to accomodate the change. She had to purchase a separate ticket and ended up losing the money she paid for the first ticket. That's very poor customer service. Very poor. All in the pursuit of the mighty profit dollar. RUN AWAY!!!!!!! Back in December my flight was canceled hours before my boarding time. It was a direct 5 hour flight. The flight offered in its place was the next day, 26 hour 2 stop flight! I was nice about and took the credit. Today the very same issue occurred! Hours before my 5 hour direct flight, I was informed my flight was canceled and offered a 29 hour flight for the next day, not arriving in my city until two days later from my original time!! My family and I recently had a very upsetting experience with Alaska Airlines. Our Alaska Airlines flight was cancelled (no reason for the cancelation was given; it certainly was not weather-related) which caused us to miss our connecting international flight. No other flights were available that day, so we would reach our final destination 24 hours late. Consequently, we not only missed one full day of vacation, but we also incurred significant costs as we had to book a hotel room at the airport as well as another hotel room at the airport of our destination since we missed the ferry to get to our vacation rental. Not to mention that we lost out on our car and room reservations we already had and which we could now not utilize. Even though we, and especially our little son, were very sad and disappointed to miss one full day of our vacation, we stayed very patient. I am a frequent traveler and understand that these things can happen. When however, on the way back our Alaska Airlines flight was cancelled again, our patience ran thin. No other Alaska Airlines flight for the same day was available, so they had to reroute us to another airport which meant the additional expense for a long Uber ride plus a longer way home from this other airport. When this flight was then delayed for more than three hours - we would now be home at three in the morning - I decided to go to the Alaska Airlines Lounge to ask for support. My son was exhausted, and I wanted to see if we could sit down in the lounge for the long wait time, since it was freezing cold in the terminal. We didn't even ask for food or beverages, just a place to sit more comfortably and warm, until our flight would leave. When the lady at the front desk of the Alaska Airlines Lounge refused any help and informed me that I would still have to pay a $30 fee per person, I was literally in tears - she showed no compassion at all! I asked if we could at least borrow a couple of blankets to get warm in the terminal, this was denied as well. Due to these two cancelled flights, we incurred additional costs close to $1,000 (for several hotel rooms, transfer costs, supplies, etc.), we lost one day of vacation on the way out and arrived home much, much later than planned. During this whole experience, Alaska Airlines did not provide any sort of support or compensation. I will never use their so-called "services" again and I advise strongly against flying with this airline, they do not show any consideration for their customers, not even children. read more

They have been around for a long time and I've used them for about 39 years but recently they have become so "customer service UNFRIENDLY"! They now have group seating copy catting Southwest Airlines. I had to get a last minute seat assignment and approached the gate desk where 3 enployees were having a personal conversation and even looked at me paused and continued their conversation, then watched me walk away. Horrible. On the plane even worse, I couldn't lift my bag to overhead bin , I asked for assistance , they told me no we can't help you. Worse than that passengers were loading luggage on top sideways so limited space is available and the stewards could care less. After beverage time a few more hours to wait, instead of resting peacefully, we had to listen to a female Minnie Mouse voiced yacker carryon a conversation for 2 HOURS. Horrible None of the stewards dress in nice pressed clean clothes anymore, nope, hair and all like they just got out of bed, so shameful. I wish I could blame it on millennials but not so, older, male , female all of them. There basically is NO MORE CUSTOMER SERVICE. You will ride the public air metro should be their motto. read more

I have flown Alaska Airlines several times from Orange County to Seattle. Flew for the third time on Alaska at John Wayne yesterday. I took the first flight out which leaves at 7 am on weekdays. This is the earliest time possible as planes can't depart earlier due to an Orange County air noise ordinance. They can board the plane before that, they just can't fly out until that time. I flew out on the first flight of the morning on Alaska once prior several years ago and remember the TSA line being packed and very slow to get through. I was concerned when my sister wanted to drop me off at the airport 45-50 minutes before the flight departure, but it turns out that I could have done that and still made the flight. The TSA security line in the early morning here goes much more quickly now. I was through in 10 minutes, if that. The gate the plane was departing from was just past TSA. It was next to a McDonald's and a Starbucks is close by too. The boarding system that Alaska has in place has passengers in the back of the plane board first. Not good since I was all the way in the front. By the time I got in, pretty much all of the overhead bins were full. Fortunately I just had a shopping bag and a backpack so I was able to squeeze the bag inside one of the bins. If I had a carry-on, I would have had to check it. The plane was okay. It was a 737 with some seats that seemed a bit beat up and tight. To add insult to injury, the plane was painted in Portland Timbers livery which is sacrilege flying into Seattle. There aren't any entertainment offerings onboard, though you can buy Wi-Fi access. Drink service was decent. The flight attendants came by a few times to keep passengers hydrated which was better than a Delta flight I took a few days to San Diego when there was just one beverage service. For the price I paid, I thought my flight on Alaska was alright. Nothing special, pretty much a bus in the air. I am hoping Delta starts flying into John Wayne from Seattle since it is now a hub so I have another option. The in-flight experience is a little better on Delta compared to Alaska. read more

Then, they proceeded to call me back, 5 more times and when I finally figured out who was calling me from an 1844 number; they were calling the wrong customer back,he hanged up on me, when I asked if he had the correct customer's phone number. Never in all my years have I ever received an email after a travel delay in either case. Today I'm changing my review of Alaska Airlines from 4 to 5 stars. Here's why: My son's flight back to school was delayed. The incoming flight was late so his flight boarded late. Once everyone got on and luggage loaded, they were told their plane had mechanical issues and they would have to get a new aircraft. Instead of leaving John Wayne at the scheduled time of 11:21am, he didn't leave until nearly 2pm, about the time he was scheduled to arrive at his destination. Yeah, a delay sucks and he missed his night class, but in airport time, a 3 hour delay when we are talking about getting a new plane and transferring a full flight and luggage... all during a very busy holiday travel time....isn't that bad. Was I thrilled he was getting back to school late? No, but this was the first time any Alaska flight we've been on that has been late so it wasn't changing my opinion of their service one way or the other. But then, shortly after my son finally got in the air, I received an email. It was from Alaska and it was an apology. That. Never. Happens. At least it's never happened to me before. And it gets better, in their apology note, they extended a $100 off coupon for future travel. I learned later, the flight crew also provided complimentary food on the flight. And this folks is the way to treat your passengers. Thanks Alaska Air for caring and going out of your way to make it right. read more

My wife & I were booked on a nonstop flight in the morning. Flight was cancelled less than 12 hours from departure. Called customer service to get help, spent 1.5 hours on the phone to speak with 2 "customer service" reps that basically told us "there's nothing we can do to help you". No apology for their causing this massive inconvenience, no attempt to help fix it for us. The worst customer service I've dealt with in a long time, really makes me not want to fly with them again after flying them all the time. read more

We flew from SNA to RNO on a Bombardier Q400. What a great flight! This was our second trip to Lake Tahoe this year; same fight. The flight was hassle free and legroom was comfy compared to the other legacy carrier flights or CRJ regionals. The best feature about this flight was the complimentary beer and wine. What domestic carrier still serves beer and wine without charge in economy cabin? The Q400 is all one cabin service. The flight service and flight crew are top notch. One more thing, the Q400 is a high wing turbo prop plane. You get an almost unobstructed view out of your window from any seat. So, if you're looking to get to Lake Tahoe/Reno from SoCal area, fly Alaska. IMO, the best way to chariot to the high Sierras. read more

Don't expect to actually receive a voucher as promised for luggage not delivered to baggage claim within 20 min of landing. They claimed they had a "bag jam" and therefore we were all made to wait 45 min for our bags and they didn't offer the voucher either. read more

I am a flight attendant t from another major US carrier and I use Alaska to commute from Sna to Sfo at least 4 XX per month. They always are super nice and accommodating. Easy to book but not accommodating in any way and charges for everything. United or Hawaiian are much better choices if possible. Alaskan is running off of the legendary name, not current quality. read more
