Update: After posting this review about our experience, the company began threatening us over it. Rather than addressing the serious safety concerns we raised, they chose to threaten us for sharing our honest experience. This review reflects our personal observations and what occurred on the property The company was hired approximately three months ago. In our experience, they left the property in dangerous conditions, left trash and beer cans on the property, failed to complete the job, and someone was reportedly sent to the emergency room following the conditions left behind. They also removed the carport lighting and did not reinstall it. During a storm, the area was dark and wet, and the mother of my disabled child fell because there was no lighting in the carport. We also observed what we believed to be hazardous materials being disposed of in our dumpsters. read more

Our Board of Directors made a sound and sensible decision when Alan's House Painting was hired to paint our Cooperative apartment complex. The workers constantly impressed. Their interactions with the residents and Office staff was always polite and friendly, answering any questions posed to them. Their work ethic was top-notch and their attention to detail showed competency and professionalize. The care given our cars and outside furniture was noteworthy, as they made sure our items were fully protected. The most remarkable daily occurrence was the quick set-up and breakdown of their equipment. They made sure all necessary construction materials were removed and safely stored at the end of each work day. I highly recommend this Company. 5 stars!!! read more

The one-star rating is excessively generous; this company provided the most unsatisfactory service I have ever encountered. During my thirteen years of residency, the complex has undergone several painting projects without incident; however, this recent project demonstrated significant deficiencies. I have never experienced such a high volume of concerning issues. The painting project has remained incomplete for months, and the absence of building and parking space numbers is unacceptable. Not only were the numbers removed from the parking covers, but also the lights. Four nights after the lights were removed, I fell in a puddle of water I could not see due to the lack of lighting after returning from the grocery store at 6 PM. Hazardous materials were left unattended and improperly discarded. Hazardous materials, such as razor blades, were left on the ground. Light bulbs, paint chips, pieces of torn wall, and tape were also left behind. If you find this acceptable by all means this is the company for you. I've seen other comment from our apartment complex trying to say that this was a decent job but they're only doing that because they're being threatened by owners. Pictures is worth a thousand words. read more

I have the highest praise for Alan's House Painting. Brian is a pro-- he responded right away and came out asap to give an honest estimate; he offered very sound advice on color choices and gave us plenty of time to decide; he worked around the other contractors I had scheduled and his crew finished on time on on budget. His crew is fantastic-- very skilled and efficient tradesmen. I understand others have had trouble scheduling their jobs, but tradesmen of this quality are hard to come by and therefore busy-- if you're patient and recognize this as more than a simple transaction but an investment in their experience, you'll be happy in the end. read more

Brian and his team recently painted the entire exterior of our home near downtown Davis. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Their bid was the most competitive (more coats, better products), they were pleasant and professional to work with and, above all, they did an absolutely fantastic job on our house. The color match was perfect, they did amazing prep work (no more cracks), and the painting itself was outstanding in every way. They even came back to fix a problem I wasn't aware of. Again, great job. If you're looking to paint your house, consider reaching out to Alan's for a bid. read more

Very professional. I definitely recommend Alan's House Painting (Brian and his team) for painting. Their estimate was reasonable, they came when they said would, and they did a great job. They even came back to touch up an area of the house that had some unrelated repairs after they had completed the original work. The communications along the way was very good and Brian came in person to inspect the work. read more

I recently moved to Woodland and definitely need my house painted. Within two blocks of home I noticed two vehicles from this company so I looked them up, left a detailed voicemail, and I waited...and waited. No one ever returned my call. NOT a great way to run your business. :/ read more

We recently had our entire house painted inside and out as part of a move-in process. The paint job was fantastic with meticulous attention paid to all parts of the job from start to finish . The staff was polite and friendly. We were very happy with the results and highly recommend this company. read more

***They're Not for Everyone*** I was referred to Alan's House Painting by a local real estate agent who normally uses them for his listings. Although these guys came with a recommendation and great Yelp bona fides, they did not workout for me. Perhaps it was because the scale of my project was too small (interior garage painting), or perhaps it was the December holidays, but either way, after I contacted them via email, I never received the courtesy of any kind of reply or follow-up. Truly disappointing. read more

I was getting my house ready to sell and wanted to do some updating, I painted my kitchen cabinets myself, the job was A LOT harder than I thought, and it looked sloppy. Alan's House Painting came out and repainted them, they painted my bathroom cabinets as well, and even replaced the hardware, they did such a great job! I had them come back to paint the whole interior and exterior of my house. It looks amazing and they were done quickly so that I could get my house on they market and it sold with in two months. Very professional Fast and high quality Extremely clean and considerate crew Best price out of all the estimates received read more

We worked with Brian to repaint the interior of our new home. His crew did a fantastic job and really went above and beyond on the details (replacing door hardware so everything would match, getting wall texture right, cleaning up the site, etc.). We were very impressed. I appreciated that we were able to communicate about the job over email and Brian was very responsive. I also appreciated the fair price. I will use Alan's House Painting in the future when we paint the exterior of our home. read more

This is my first time using this company but it won't be my last time. Brian is a very nice person to be working with, his crew is very good too. I asked Brian to pick my colors for the exterior of my home and he did an awesome job! I will hire him for all my paint needs!! They got the job done quickly too read more

I had a poor experience with Alan's House Painting. After committing to a time sensitive job, they became unreachable. My Realtor set up the appointment for the first part of the job. Afterwards, I could not reach Alan's House Painting to ask questions. They showed up on time, but the painters left without finishing the job. I was specifically charged extra for parts of the job that were not done. After I spent weeks calling and leaving messages that were not returned, I got my Realtor involved. Surprise, they finally called me back to finish the job. When someone finally came back, it felt like a rushed job. They did not remove the door before painting it. They missed spots in the interior which I found not long after they left. The painters ended up storing a ton of bulky painting equipment on the grass of my backyard lawn and left without telling me when the equipment would be picked up, which ended up being several days later. I did receieve good advice on the color of the house during the initial consultation. The parts that were done right look good. However I do not consider the paint job complete. I will have to hire a second painter, even after making it clear I was willing to pay to have the entire house painted. read more

This company did a great job for us. Brian was great at squeezing us into the schedule during the really busy season and they did a fantastic job painting our trellis in the back yard. Power wash, sand, prime and paint for a very reasonable price. There are a lot of surfaces to hit on a trellis and we couldn't be happier. will definitely use them again. read more

We give this company our highest rating! In a sentence they did a fantastic job! Brian was super helpful and made the process of fixing damaged wood and painting our house very convenient. Everything they did was superb. We could not have picked a better company to paint our house than Alan's House Painting. In our situation Brian coordinated with Bennet Building Co. and we were fortunate to have Kevin do the wood repair work. Kevin is extremely talented and his work for us was amazing! THANK YOU!!! read more

Worked with Brian at Alan's House Painting to repair some household damage I caused by hanging a television. Honestly, i tried fixing it myself and just caused more damage to the texturing/dry wall. After showing up, Brian had not only fixed the dry-wall and texturing, but matched the color and brush strokes to make the damage invisible. Experts in texture and color-matching, and can't beat the service or price. Thanks again Brian. Highly recommend. read more

I am beyond thrilled with Alan's House Painting! Our home was long overdue for an exterior upgrade, that being said, it's a HUGE commitment and therefore can be nerve racking! Brian and his staff were efficient, friendly, on time, polite, clean and professional. They were patient with me while I debated between "blues" and "greys", even painting nice big swatches on the house so I didn't have to pick a color based on a small chip. We have an older house, and we also have a young toddler, they were so thorough when it came to making sure they cleaned up any paint chips that came from the prep work (because of lead) and they did! Every speck! When I explained my vision for our home, I was heard, given solid advice and it turned out just the way I imagined! When I told Brian I wanted a yellow door, he went above and beyond to ensure I got the exact hue of yellow I wanted. Our expectations were more than met! This is a fantastic local company that has been around a long time, and it's obvious why. Highly Recommend!! read more

Our experience with Brian and his crew at Alan's House Painting was fantastic. They were always on time, friendly and professional, and cleaned up completely when done each day. The work is top notch, and Brian had some good ideas about color and detail. We couldn't be happier and will definitely use them again! read more

I am very impressed with Alan's House Painting and recommend them very highly. In May/June 2019 I had Alan's paint the exterior front of my home, two large pergolas and trellises, as well as various doors and trims. The quality of work and attention to detail were impressive. In particular: * Brian worked with me to find a paint color that worked well with an unusual color of brick I had to keep. He brought multiple samples and then worked to find the perfect tint of the color we selected. The effect is even better than I'd hoped! * Alan's carefully trains all the painters in their crews and it really shows in the care and professionalism of their work. * Everyone was kind, friendly and skilled and they respected and cared for my property throughout the project. * They did some minor repair work to damaged pergola beams. * Everything was power-washed and prepped before applying any paint. * Excellent clean up. * I had three bids and selected Alan's because of their detailed explanation of the work to be done, as well as competitive pricing. (They were the middle bid, but also the most clear about what the bid covered.) I will definitely call them again for future painting projects and recommend them without reservation - great skill, great value, very nice people. read more

I agree with Jack C's review. I tried numerous times to contact them, and did not get the courtesy of a call back. I had the same situation (a small job). I'm tired of Davis area contractors that don't call back. I feel like every contractor around here in the Davis area thinks they're doing us a favor even though we're the ones paying. read more

I chose Alan's House Painting to paint the exterior of my home. The owner, Brian, was there at every moment making sure his employees protected all of the established plants, payed attention to detail and afterward, it was cleaner than it was when they started. The quality of paint they use is excellent! They filled in all of the cracks that had formed over the years of wear on my house and I have had many comments from neighbors complimenting the work. They did such an excellent job that I called them back for an estimate to paint my kitchen cabinets. The price was more than fair, and due to the quality work I had seen from them before, I chose to go with this company again. They again used a high quality of paint and the work was completed quickly and efficiently. They look brand new! I highly recommend them for any of your painting needs. read more
