Please do not come here EVER if you're a person of color. Dr. Alan Sedell is extremely racist and rude. My grandma got a root canal today and as she cannot speak English, I translated for her. During the procedure, he got more and more frustrated with my grandma as she was not closing her mouth. However, I was translating and telling her to and it was very visible that he was frustrated and had no patience what so ever. Then he made a comment and asked "why is she groaning, she shouldn't be in pain, I gave her anesthesia." (But not saying it in a nice way, he said it with an attitude). So I asked my grandma and she said that she was uncomfortable because she felt like she couldn't swallow her saliva. I preceded to translate and this man had the audacity to ROLE HIS EYES AT ME. The best part of this experience was after that, we again were trying to get my grandma to close her mouth so the stopper could stay in. The doctor proceeded to yell and was like "tell her to close her mouth" and I asked "I am, please be patient with her, she's an elderly." This really made him mad and he proceeds to yell at me and states that he doesn't have time to wait for her to close her mouth. He has a flight to catch in four hours and he says that I'm rude for asking him to be patient when he has been. Then continues to say that if it were someone else doing this surgery, they would tell the patient to leave. He continues to belittle me and says "you don't have as much experience as me with older people". Who says that to a patients family member? As a student studying to be in healthcare and a CNA at a hospital who works at a geriatric unit, I am appalled to see a grown man act like that towards a patient and a patients family member who was trying to help him by translating. This is not what a professional doctor acts like, but a child. He was rude, impatient, and had no respect for the fact that my grandma had no idea what's happening and I have to take the time to translate to her step by step the procedure. Imagine if it was your grandma, no one would want a doctor like him treating her. A doctor should be professional and your number one priority should be the patient. It is not my fault you decided to book a flight today, that has nothing to do with this appointment that has been booked 3 months in advance. It is disgusting to see a doctor treat his patients like this. Lacking respect, rude, and belittling the patient and the patients family member. He should not be a doctor, and retake a class on how to be a kind human being and not racist. PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE read more

I went in and the dentist was so rude to me. He would try to rush me or make me talk faster when I did not know why I was in pain. He would roll his eyes at me when I was in pain and was not really attentive towards the main problem. read more

The rudest person I have ever met in my life. I calmly explained that I appreciated his help but I just couldn't afford to go through with the service unless we could do a payment plan but he would not work with me. Basically told me that I'd make one payment and he'd never hear from me again. He had my credit card in his hand and would not allow me to pay for what I was there for and leave. Continued to put me down and tell me how inconsiderate I was for not taking his discount on the service. Even though I continuously explained I could not afford it. Embarrassed me in front of other customers. I had to tell him 5 times that I was uncomfortable and wanted to pay for today and leave and he would not charge me and allow me to be on my way. and the way he speaks to his staff is embarrassing. He thinks he knows everything and doesn't even let you speak. It is very clear he enjoys the sound of his own voice. Even his receptionist was horrible. I mentioned working out a payment plan and her response was "this is not a bank" Stay far away from him and his staff! read more

Excellent endodontist, you could definitely see he knew what he was doing. My root canal appeared particularly annoying and involved in the xray, baffling my dentist and he was able to really clear it out. It is 3 months since, and no pain. He was also very available for emergencies and ways of managing the pain. -.5 star because they don't email x rays, and it took 2 full sessions plus an emergency initial pain relief session to fully get it out, but this was probably a symptom of my tooth being complicated and Dr. Sedell's thoroughness. Staff is friendly and helpful. Overall, would recommend. read more

Worst experience ever i should have followed my guts as its never wrong.. I got cought off guard reading all these other reviews and as i not sure which dentist they went to as it can't be the same guy as . he is rough take too long to do one procedure as i had to go back three time just to get a route canal done seriously really come on now! That was my first mistake the i went and cleaning off the gum directly above the affected tooth i felt like i was going to die most painful experience ever and he got and attitude when i make signs that I'm in pain . during the procedure he kept arguing with his assistance that made me more uncomfortable as it seems something was definitely goes wrong .. My neck is sore and my back ache as he kept on dragging my head toward him . i felt abused and what made it worst he left in pain even after the pain pill they gave me after the procedure.. My mouth constantly bleeding im worried if it even going to stop and i already feeling the stiches pulling apart.. LESS THAN ONE STAR! DO NOT EVER EVER EVER GO TO HIM. HE IS A MONSTER. We took my 6 years old to Dr. Sedell three weeks ago based on a referral from The insurance company for a root canal. Today, we were told, was suppose to be a follow up. Instead we find out he needed to finish the 2nd portion of the root canal. Upon sitting in the chair my daughter asked the dentist if he was going to take an x-ray again as she told him that is very painful and uncomfortable. He told her to open mouth and proceeded to put cotton swabs in her mouth. My daughter got scared and started to cry. Instead of comforting her he kept saying why are you crying I haven't done anything to you. He kept on repeating the same thing and not in a gentle voice either. Dr. Sedell wasn't ready to perform today's procedure and was even short with his assistant telling her why isn't the tray ready to which she replied that's because this is a follow up and he argued with her that it wasn't and she inputted the appointment incorrectly. I was standing by my daughter and from time to time wiping her tears and reassuring her everything will be ok, to which Dr. Sedell told me I'm not helping matters. We exchanged words and he basically told me this is why children shldnt be coming here who have never experienced this before. I reminded him he needs to be more gentle after all she is 6 years old and as a parent himself he shld be more compassionate. He continued to complain ( in front of her) that she is being difficult and wasting his time, that he doesn't get paid enough for the procedure, and that I'm rewarding bad behavior by comforting her and allowing my daughter to not get the X-rays done. My daughter was crying becoming very upset by the hostile atmosphere and asked to get a drink of water. He told her NO and that she can wait till after the procedure and continued to tell me that she is putting a show for me and that's why parents shldnt be in the room. I offered to pay out of pocket for some other way of taking the x-ray and he said no except she can hold the x- ray with her own finger. By this point my daughter was beyond scared, traumatized and could not stop crying. He did NOTHING to help or comfort my child! He only acted annoyed! Finally he said I'm done I have other patients to attend to and with that saidWe walked out of the office not knowing if there is anything else that needs to be done or what. My daughter has been going to dentists ever since she was 2 and we have never had an experience like this. I don't want this horrible experience to stigmatize my daughter for future dental visits. Horrible experience. I can't believe all of these good reviews are for the same guy. Please, please, please avoid this monster. I was so scared of dentists and avoided them for a long time. Eventually I needed root canals and was referred to Dr Sedell by my dentist. I should have listened to my gut and walked right out of there, but I was young (and on my own) and really in pain and did not know how to advocate for myself. I had two visits with him of the required four. I went to another doctor to complete the work because my experience with Dr Sedell was so horrendous. 1. I informed him how terrified I was and he huffed and rolled his eyes. 2. After he x-rayed my mouth, he said, and I quote "Whatever you were planning on taking out in student loans, take out more, because you're going to need it." 3. He tried to give me laughing gas. After he put the mask on, I did not feel anything. It was like breathing regular air. I told him that and he said the machine was fine and I was the problem. 4. When he gave me the novocaine injection on my first visit, he put some gel stuff on my gum that numbed it so I wouldn't feel the needle as much. For my second visit, he tried to give the injection without the numbing gel. I told him to put the numbing gel on my gums first and he huffed and rolled his eyes and got pissed before he did it. 5. After going home from both appointments, I was in so much pain. My gums were throbbing and I couldn't stop crying. He did not give me any pain medication to take home and told me I didn't need it. At the second appointment I told him how much pain I was in during the first appointment and he told me there was no possible way to be in that much pain since he removed the root. I tried to tell him it was my gums that hurt but he was so dismissive. 6. He routinely yelled at his assistant during both procedures... Like, actually raised his voice to a yelling volume. I was already in the middle of the root canal and couldn't leave. 7. After the second appointment, I called the assistant to cancel the remaining two appointments and rescheduled with another doctor (who was great and did not cause me pain). Dr Sedell actually called me at work during my work day to tell me off. He told me there was no possible way I wasn't feeling the laughing gas and there was no possible way I was in pain when I got home. He wanted to know what I told my general dentist so that he could "explain" to him what happened. My boss was standing next to me and actually heard Dr Sedell yelling at me on the phone. I was so embarrassed. 8. I don't know if they are in the same office still, but the one I went to was basically in a dark basement and there was a giant picture of Dr Sedell himself in the treatment room waterskiing, so that's what I got to look at while having a root canal. It was bizarre. He must think very highly of himself. My general dentist will no longer refer patients to Dr Sedell because of what happened to me. If you google him, you will see that he has been sued (and lost) at least once before. This occurred many years ago and I still think about it. He or his office staff may comment below to say it's not true, but, I swear, every word of it is. read more

In the past Dr. Sedell has performed 3 apicoectmies on me. The post care has been unbelievable! When you first sit in his chair you are overly impressed with his photography skills. i went to Dr Sedell for the first time with a need for urgent oral surgery. My general dentist referred me. I found the Dr very attentive in making me feel comfortable, considering that the process isn't always the most comfortable to begin with. Most impressive, his phone followup within a day of the procedure was appreciated. In addition, my followup office visits were comprehensive in checking the progress. To this day, I haven't had any issues with the area he worked. On another note, his office is modern in a convenient location. read more

Dr. Sedell is completely unprofessional and a bully. When discussing my bill at my second visit he became irate and began screaming at me. This was all done while another patient was in the waiting room. His staff was not helpful. They seem to want to verbally change your payment plan after you have already had their services. I have been to many dentist in my life and I have never been treated as disrespectfully and unprofessionally as I was in Dr.Sedells office. I am happy to share this experience because I find him a very genuine doctor. The doctor office was clean and neat. The staff was courteous and doctor listened to me, answered my questions and clarified all the doubts I had. He gave enough of his time attending to my case and did the through work. I recommend him highly. Just know that root canal surgery and other endo-dental work is not always pain free and lots of dentists are not doing that readily because they might get bad review. read more

I was referred to Dr. Sedell for several old root canals which had been done but the dentist had been unable to completely remove the roots at the time. Due to a death in the family out of state, I had to cancel two appointments. They were extremely unaccommodating and rude. I figured they were just having a bad day. Dr. Sedell decided to do a scan to see all of my teeth and while I was waiting, my phone wrang. I did not answer and his assistant told me to go ahead and take it. (She was always professional and courteous) I answered and talked for about one minute. Dr. Sedell came around the corner and was rolling his eyes and huffing and puffing.. I was 10 and 20 minutes late to a couple of appointments and apologized and offered to come back another time. I live 45 minutes away and showed up an hour early to the next appointment and was told by Dr. Sedell that I did that because I was afraid of getting yelled at. I am 53 years old and certainly don't worry about getting yelled at. I was trying to ensure that nothing would happen on route to make me late again. I was in pain throughout and told him at one point that it hurt and pointed where and asked is that OK? He stated; "Well which is it? You tell me you feel better and then you tell me you have pain! Did you take the pain medicine?" I replied I take ibuprofen. I did not have a prescription from him. He stated "You are noncompliant. I tell you take the pain medication and you don't. He then yelled at me for about 5 minutes until I finnaly told him he was f**ing crazy and could I leave now? I did not know if my tooth needed a filling or something. I had not spoken to this man more than a few sentences until this happened. It felt like the twilight zone. I have never been treated so rudely.... AND I had to pay him. I told him I had actually asked for the pain medication when I arrived that day as I had not slept due to pain. When I told him that the medication he was going to give me did not help me, he then made comments indicating that I was drug seeking. I told him I did not care if he gave it to me or not. I had refused narcotic Rx during the entire treatment from him (about 2 months) and now he states this because the med. he wanted to give me had not helped me in the past. He then charted for quite some time and I asked if he was charting my "drug seeking" and he said "well I do have to protect myself". I asked for a copy of the scan I purchased out of pocket and was told it would be mailed to me. I called 3 times and was told it was mailed. Never have received it. I asked for his report on the scan and was told I would receive it in the mail. Never have received it. read more

I had a very bad toothache and i thought it had to do something with my wisdom tooth, which was later clarified it wasn't. I called doctor Sedell's office because i was in pain and needed to get my tooth checked and verified i required a root canal. I called a couple of doctors that day, but none had appointments (was only calling highly rated doctors). I eventually called Doctor Sedell's office and was squeezed in for a late appointment. I explained to the office Admin i was in a lot of pain and she got me in. Once i arrived at the office it was a great experience. Doctor was knowledgeable and immediately started to work on my tooth. This was my first time having a root canal so i was a bit worried, but he did a great job and completed the work in two visits. There was some discomfort during the root canal but nothing like i had always pictured it. Overall i would say a great doctor who attended to me immediately, was very professional and knowledgeable.
