I never write reviews, but I felt very compelled to write this one as my experience with Dr. Biondo was amazing. I needed my wisdom tooth (that was also infected) extracted, but before I even met with him, they consulted with my insurance to see what they would and would not cover and told me the expenses upfront. After that was clear, he took an x-ray and looked at my teeth and was very thorough with the consultation. We decided to take my infected wisdom tooth out and if there were no complications, we would take the other three out. This was my first time having any oral surgery done and I was not panicked at all. I felt at ease with the entire process because of the consultation with him. Dr. Biondo explained the surgery in detail and then talked me through the entire procedure. He made sure that I felt comfortable and felt no pain by asking how I felt about the pressure being applied at the moment. As soon as there was heavy pressure applied, I signaled and he added more local anesthesia. They took out all four wisdom teeth in what felt like no time and I felt absolutely nothing except for light-mid pressure. The post-care instructions were very clear and he personally explained them to my mom (she was there to accompany me). He even texted me to see how I was doing, which I appreciated. The procedure was relatively inexpensive because my insurance covered almost everything. Even then, they will give you a copy of the procedure code so that you can double-check with your insurance yourself. I highly recommend Dr. Biondo to anyone who needs their wisdom teeth extracted. It is totally scam. I called before to make sure if they take my insurance or not. The front desk said yes and they will charge me $65 to remove my wisdom teeth and they will fill the paperwork to get the reimbursement according to my insurance. But the truth is they charged and tell you that you need another service which charges $950 In order to remove your teeth safely. And they refuse to give me copy of claim form and front desk suggested me to go to clinics who accept my insurance right before I left. Totally very bad experience. Update: I just find out there are four pending charges on my credit card which I only authorized one of them is $65 that Dr. Ronald scam from me. I don't used it since I leave their office. Please do not go here!!!! I made the mistake on not looking on Yelp...all the reviews were right! They charged me $75 just for a consultation. My insurance covers the whole procedure through claims..he never told me I had to pay the $75 until I came the day of the visit. The receptionist called me on Monday to schedule my appointment for the following Friday. I told her I'll get back to her in a hour to work through my work schedule, she charged me for $450. When I called to confront her she tried to explain she wanted to book it. But I told her to give me an hour. She charged the account I charged for the $75. When I called her she hanged up on me twice. I reported them to my insurance company and I called my credit card company. What she did was fraud and unacceptable. Do not go here ! This place is a scam. My brother went here to get his wisdom teeth extracted specifically because they took our insurance and he was close by. The office totally took advantage of the immense pain my brother was in and created a reason to avoid the procedure that was covered by insurance insisting that laughing gas was better than general anesthesia and ended up charging my brother $1,015. The receptionist was completely incompetent, extremely rude and unprofessional. She got overwhelmed when I called in to question the insurance issues and could not explain anything other than saying " it's very complicated you wouldn't understand. He was rude. They charged me $85 dollars for a x ray, that didn't even saved in the database according to the receptionist via text. They couldn't email me or my other doctor my x ray after I paid $85. Instead they mailed me a 2D printed copy of my Xray which my other doctor could not work with. He said my wisdom tooth was touching my nerve and gave me contract to protect him from lawsuit since I could have damaged nerve with can loose feeling in my lower lip. No matter how nice I tried to be he had this negative aura like he was upset with me, I felt his negative energy. He said I can go to clinic and get my wisdom teeth removed rudely since its cheaper. Also he didnt tell me the amount I had to pay until after I did the x-ray. The receptionist wouldn't pick up the phone after my mother contacted her about the price since I am using my mom insurance. Similar to other patients, Dr Biondo also swindled me by requiring that I pay up front, and saying that I'd get a refund if my health and dental insurance plans paid for the procedure. My health and dental insurance did pay, and Dr Biondo's office gave me a partial refund. He should not be in business of taking patients money, and not responding to emails. I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Dr. Biondo is an amazing oral surgeon!! And that says alot...giving an oral surgeon five stars. From what I hear about getting wisdom teeth removed, some pretty scary things can happen. So I was naturally apprehensive. My dentist referred me to Dr. Biondo. Oddly enough, he has no secretary. But that turned out to be ok. He does everything for you: make appointments, answer the phone, file insurance paperwork, etc. Also, he allows for ample time with each patient. I never saw another patient while I was there so I never felt rushed. He was very comforting and knowledgeable. He kept telling me that my case was a very simple one and all the benefits of electively getting them removed instead of waiting until I'm in pain. Actually, he is quite talkative, but that turned out to be understandable cuz he's the only one that can talk during surgery. Also, he doesn't have a TV in the room (has radio) so he was the entertainment. He has lots of stories to tell. Even found myself laughing a little in the surgery chair! As for the surgery itself, he used inhalation anaesthesia. So I was awake during the whole thing. This type of drug is more expensive since insurance usually doesn't cover it. But worth the money since there aren't any side effects and you don't need someone to take you home. The drug's pretty relaxing. Dr. Biondo warned me of everything he was about to do: that I would hear this sound, that I would feel pressure, etc. He knew every single detail of the procedure (how it would feel for the surgery patient). No surprises and it didn't hurt! Worst part was the discomfort in getting the local anaesthesia shots. Later that day, he even called to make sure I was doing ok! read more

Dr. Biondo is absolutely amazing. He was able to see me immediately as my dentist on the 7th floor referred me one friday afternoon. He removed two pretty gross root canals gone wrong over the past 2 weeks! He was able to remove the crowned tooth in all of 2 minutes! (The numbing is what takes the longest) You can also opt for sedation. If you hate going to the dentist and have anxiety about getting work done, he is the perfect doctor to see. He is soothing, comforting and explains everything he is doing as he is doing it and lets you know what to expect. I could not have asked for a better experience. He also likes to make jokes which I can definitely appreciate! He is a very warm and friendly doctor. I will recommend him to everyone and I will only see him as long as my insurance allows! & His dental assistant Naomi is just as nice and friendly too. Dr Biondo is a great oral surgeon. I went in for one wisdom tooth and returned for another soon after. Get this: I didn't get put under anesthesia, he gave me a few shots in the gums, chit chatted for about twenty minutes while I got nice and numb. After about 5 minutes my tooth was out, with no pain and I was all set. As other reviewers mentioned he is very soothing and comforting while he is working on your mouth and he really makes you feel like you're in safe hands. Even more amazing, he runs the whole office himself, even filing people's insurance claims and bills! What's best is that I didn't even need to take pain killers after! I went for a simple extraction covered by my insurance and now left with $4300 debt on work that i did not receive and can get done for half the price elsewhere. This is my 1st time dealing outside my long time family dental practice but my old dentist have retired so i wasnt aware of scams as this. I didnt even schedule the appointment for the implants. Just an appointment for an extraction but the doc just told me that he has the implants in the office. Wtf? About 10 years ago, I had a very advanced tooth infection which swelled my face up to what looked like a pumpkin. I hadn't realized how dangerous it was to let a tooth get so bad, but there it was, middle of the night, and I was starting to get panicky since I began to feel very odd neurologically. My husband and I went to the emergency room. The horrible woman at St. Vincent's said that the wait was 7 hours. There were people really camped at the ER. I went home and began to feel even worse. I started calling every oral surgeon in the yellow pages. No one was calling back, even though I left messages on their emergency services - except Dr. Biondo. He was at a party in Brooklyn when he got the call. He said to meet him at his office as soon as possible because he was worried that I had let it go too far as I was starting to have bizarre symptoms. Dr. Biondo opened his office and asked my husband to help him. He gave me x-rays to make sure nothing else was happening, and basically, after giving me something that made me loopy, he extracted the offending tooth (a bad root canal gone worse), drained the infection and said he would work with me on payment. The man is a saint. I have never forgotten what he did for me. And he will always be the unsung hero of my life. Thank you, Dr. Biondo! Before the surgery I was given a detailed description of the situation and also during the procedure was explained to me step by step what was happening. If you are cost conscious then I would suggest you look for another dentist. I needed wisdom teeth extracted and while the procedure itself went fairly smoothly, their billing practices are unethical. My usual dentist does not do oral surgery for wisdom teeth so I had to seek out a specialist. Dr. Biondo was able to schedule me in the very next day, which is amazing but in the end not worth the convenience. The first thing I asked when I arrived at his office is for them to check my insurance and determine what it will and will not cover. They said sure, but let's get an xray done first so they can determine what needs to be done. Yes, makes sense - however, I had emailed them my digital xrays, as well as pictures of my teeth from my usual dentist that were taken only 2 months ago. The explanation they gave was that the other xrays didn't show a full view of the jaw. Fine, I let that one slide, even though they showed perfectly the roots of my wisdom teeth. So the xrays are done and I return to the receptionist's desk to ask about my insurance again, this is when they give me the new patient forms to fill out, and a contract stating I needed to pay everything upfront in full. So again, I ask what the costs will be. The answer I get again is that she is waiting for the billing codes from Dr. Biondo to determine the costs and asks me to make sure the contract is signed so they can get started. Yes, I should have stood my ground and refused any further treatments until the billing was cleared up. I, unfortunately, put too much trust in this dentist and wish I had seen the filtered reviews that also point out his shady billing practices. Dr. Biondo gets an extra star because I think he probably is a decent oral surgeon, the procedure itself wasn't awful, he was reassuring throughout and explained everything he was doing before doing it (what a difference from billing!), and he called me later that evening to follow up on how I was doing, which was nice. But in the end, his costs weren't explained to me until after all was done, despite the fact that I had asked at least 4 times. The exact pricing for each procedure was finally revealed while I was still under nitrous oxide with gauze in my mouth so that I couldn't speak. I seriously felt like they raped my wallet. read more

He really believes in personal patient care, and that's a great philosophy because it shows that he really cares about what he is doing and not just trying to see as many patients as he can. From the moment I walked in, he was very cordial. He really took his time explaining everything and didn't show the slightest sense of urgency. He made me feel completely comfortable and helped relieve any anxiety I had about the whole procedure. He took his time to anesthetize me to make sure that I wouldn't be in any pain. The time it took for the actual extraction was less than the time it took for the anesthesia to kick in. He was very vocal with me during the procedure explaining what to expect and what to feel and what exactly was going on the entire time. It was so smooth that I honestly barely event felt anything. Afterward he was very thorough with his instructions as to what I should do. I called later on in the day to ask a question about the medication he said I should be taking and he actually personally called me back at 8pm to make sure all my questions were answered. Dr. Biondo is an unethical and unprofessional oral surgeon. Furthermore he is being investigated for insurance fraud. I took my 10 year old daughter to him as per the recommendation of her dentist. She needed to have an extra front tooth extracted. Dr. Biondo never explained the options to us before starting the treatment, and he wrongly assessed the procedure would take 20 minutes, when in fact after 2 hours of drilling through my daughter's palate he had to terminate the procedure as he was unable to find he tooth. At that stage he informed that that a CT-scan would have been helpful to exactly determine where the tooth was located. Before starting the treatment I asked him for the cost, to which he said not to worry as he was a participant with my dental insurance, and refused to give me a clear amount. When he finished stitching my daughter, he presented a bill for $1,309 and told me I needed to settle such amount before leaving. When I asked him for an explanation of the charges, particularly I asked him whether he was charging for the extraction, he replied he deserved to be paid for his time, and confirmed he was in fact charging for the extraction. I had no choice but to pay the full amount, which later I disputed with my credit card company. Additionally my dental insurance has opened a formal investigation for insurance fraud as practitioners cannot charge for services not rendered. Additionally I discovered that all charges are far higher than the amounts he has contracted with my insurance company, although he said to me he was charging my insurance's fees. Dr. Biondo is not an oral surgeon properly equipped or experienced to treat children. The way he treated my daughter was inadequate and unprofessional. My daughter has experienced sleep disorders since such day and refused to go back to his office for the stitches removal. An CT-scan was later performed with a different oral surgeon, which showed that the tooth is located in the opposite end of the gum than assessed by Dr. Biondo. Dr. Biondo is being reported to the Board of American Dentist for his malpractice and unethical billing practices and lack of proper information to his patients. read more

dr biondo was fantastic. he was very up front about the cost of the procedure, accepted my insurance, and was very understanding and considerate through the entire procedure. unlike the other reviewers, i didn't have to submit anything to insurance for reimbursement, i just had to pay my 50% share up front (which is how my insurance plan covers wisdom teeth). i'm sure it was mostly the laughing gas, but the procedure was actually an enjoyable process! dr biondo was very careful to explain everything he was doing in a very calm, conscientious-of-the-patient's-anxiety kind of way. the pain afterwards was expectedly bad, but dr biondo was very responsive and reachable throughout the process which was really really nice. highly recommend! read more

One of the best oral surgeons you can hope for. I needed a tooth extracted and making the appointment was very easy - he has an answering service that relays the message to him and he returns calls promptly. His office is conveniently located in midtown and is small but clean. He doesnt have any associates, assistants, or receptionists from what I saw but that was ok because it meant I never felt rushed or like I was one of 500 patients he would see that day. I wanted to have my procedure done using only a local anesthetic and he actually waited the full 20-30 minutes for it to kick in full force so that that would be possible. He was very knowledgeable about the procedure (and about his field in general and is very open about answering any questions you may have) and warned me about everything he was about to do ("you'll feel pressure now" etc.). And, he was able to understand my post-surgery-mouthfull-of-gauze speech! Overall, it was a positive experience and I highly recommend Dr. Biondo for all of your oral surgery needs. read more

I had to take my 11yr old daughter to have 2 canine teeth removed for prep for Orthodontia. Dr. Biondo is a first rate phyisican and his staff was caring and courteous. He was very patient with my nervous daughter and was ever so gentle with the anesthesia which was required for the removal. He was so dedicated and kind to my daughter and to me. This place is a scam . I was in extreme pain because of my wisdom teeth he was the only person that was able to see me the next day. I go to my appointment and immediately the receptionist said that i would need to do an X-ray i explained to her i have an X-ray i did the prior day from my general dentist, she insisted that we'd need a new one so being in so much pain and just trying to get my procedure done i said fine let's do it. X-ray is done i get seen by the doctor and he said we didn't need to do a new one so I'm now out of 65 bucks whatever. He gives me the run down on the work receptionist comes back and says to remove 2 wisdom teeth it'll be 650. 650 when I'm covered by insurance just doesn't make any sense. So i said I'm going to look at other options, receptionist said I'll schedule you in Monday if you want to do it, sure whatever fast forward 2 weeks after not getting any work done i see a charge for 250 from this dentist office thank god it was declined. A few years ago I went to Dr. Biondo to have my wisdom teeth extracted. His office manager was always very rude on the phone, but I dismissed it as being nothing. Before having the procedure done, he took a full mouth x-ray, which is standard procedure. His office then told me that they had to send it to my insurance company for approval for the procedure. I called my insurance company and was told that most of the procedure was covered, but that nitrous oxide was not covered and that I would have to pay that out of pocket. I called Dr. Biondo's office and was quoted a price for the nitrous oxide. I called Dr. Biondo's office a few days before the procedure to make sure that my insurance company had approved the procedure and again to confirm the cost that I would have to pay. I arrived for the procedure and was told that the insurance company never sent back the xray and they needed the x-ray for the procedure. So, they told me that they would need to take a second one. They told me that the second x-ray would not be covered by my insurance and that I would have to pay hundreds of dollars for the x-ray. I refused but they tried to give me a very hard time. I told them that they should have called me in advance to tell me this and the procedure should have been postponed until the insurance company sent my x-ray back. They stated that they had to have the second x-ray done and that they would try to submit it to my insurance. I reluctantly agreed and Dr. Biondo performed the procedure. After the procedure, I went to pay for my share of the co-pay and the cost of the nitrous oxide and was told by the office manager that they "decided" to charge more for the nitrous oxide. I refused to pay. I was heavily medicated at the time, could barely speak, and was still under the influence of nitrous oxide. She began to scream at me and yelled at me over and over again that I had to pay whatever they told me to pay. In tears, I asked why the price I was quoted wasn't honored, and she responded that they simply changed their minds. To this day I regret not reporting Dr. Biondo to the American Dental Association for ethical violations. His office manager is a terrible person and so is he for trying to take advantage of his patients after they are under the influence of medication. Do not go here. He is very friendly and very nice but the results speak for themselves. I had two bottom wisdom teeth removed here four months ago. A few weeks after the procedure, I noticed that the numbness on my bottom right side was not subsiding. I called to inform him and he told me to sit tight. When the numbness wasn't gone after a month, I went to another oral surgeon. He told me that the removal probably resulted in some nerve damage but he would need Dr Biondo's notes to be sure. I called Dr. Biondo three times for an appointment, spoke to the receptionist, left messages, etc. He never called me back. I never got those notes. My sensation has returned somewhat and I am hopeful it will keep improving but his behavior is completely unprofessional. I do not blame him for the damage; it was probably accidental. But he should have informed me that it happened and he should at the very least call me back. read more
