An unexpected journey occurred upon my recent visit to this establishment. Me, Thomas, Levi, Brock, Katie and the rest of the company that I came to be plunged on this journey with traveled across the film reel carpet to another theater. due to the movie having an audio technical difficulty, which was no one's fault, they did try to get it fixed (or did they? Dun dun). After our entrance into this newfound land that we thought to be our saving grace, our guiding light into the film we were all ecstatic to view, some minutes passed and then we were informed to make the treacherous journey back to the esteemed Theater #3 the place of our first defeat. Our fellowship did not falter, although we did lose a helmeted soldier, we carried on, we had to see it through. We settled back into this place we thought we had left for good and made it as homely as we could with our limited resources. Conversations of our travels were shared and laughter erupted within those walls that we thought no longer held any joy within. The minutes passed and passed but our resolve never faltered. Like waves breaking through a dam we were hit upon with the crash of being informed that they were unable to get the film audio up and running. Our hearts took the information with pangs of pain but in our minds we still had each other and they could not take that from us. We had each other. Though we did not have the shared experience of watching a film in the company of another we did share the experience of not watching it and being there for each other in a time of hardship. Maybe that was the point of it all, being there for each other when unexpected incidents occur. Taking comfort in a strangers company and knowing that we are not the only ones in this predicament. read more

We went to a movie party today, 12/15/2024. We signed and tipped our receipt, $5. We left our customer receipt (should have known better), and the server then tried to charge a larger tip (which our card was declining because we keep it locked), their reasoning was that the receipt wasn't signed or tipped, (which it was) I let the manager know that authorizing any transaction that isn't signed for is considered fraud, especially when the tip has been changed unkowingly. They refuse to refund us. They either got our ticket confused with another table near us, or thought we wouldn't notice what they were doing. Don't waste your money here, the service was terrible on top of that, and the food had no taste, neither one of us finished our plates. read more

I ordered the Fried Chicken and Asian Slaw sandwich. It comes with a perfectly prepared crispy chicken breast, slaw with Brussels (I never tasted Brussels). The fries were crispy outside, soft inside, and served hot. There's sauce in the slaw w/no additional condiments on the toasted and buttered buns. I could have eaten two of the small burgers - that's why this didn't get the highest rating. read more

Great theater! Reserved tickets online , huge parking lot. Walked right in and greeted , went to my theater . For those of you who are new to these types of theaters , you sit and they have menus. You write down what you want and they bring it to you , they take your card or payment at the end at your seat. Don't forget to tip ! Very smooth and easy process. Everything from wings , burgers , shakes , salads to desserts and regular candy and popcorn. They have cocktails too. I had a pineapple cider and some popcorn. Sound picture quality were great as well. If I'm in this area again I'd come back here. read more

Great service here at this theater, ordered our tickets online to beat the rush when going to see the movie Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. I like the fact you have an eating table you can eat your meals on, I was flabbergasted that you can actually order real meals not just popcorn, hot dogs and your normal food at theaters. Bathroom was clean and I like that this place reminded me of the older theaters back in the day. Only issue we had here was the popcorn, once we got home we felt sick from the popcorn, went home and threw it up. Not sure what was up with the popcorn read more

I'm from out of town and we came to watch Superman and it was a great experience. They had little vendors out front selling comic books and pictures of the different comic book characters. The food was good and not too expensive. It also is just really neat how they decorated the inside. read more

My family and I got there 30 minutes before the film was scheduled to start. I went to the computer terminal to retrieve my tickets. At first, I was prompted to enter my email and password. There was no way I would ever enter my email password on an unfamiliar computer in a public place. That's an invitation to identity theft. It then prompted me to scan the barcode on my phone as a receipt for purchase of my tickets. After several attempts the computer could not scan my phone. A young woman at the service desk noticed the difficulty and asked to help. After giving her my information she was able to retrieve my tickets. I went into the bar to get a beer while waiting for the rest of my group to arrive. The first thing I noticed was the bar smelled disgusting, like a leaking/broken grease trap. After waiting for over five minutes for a bartender I went to the woman at the service desk and asked when the bartender would be back. She said the bar would open "around 2 or 3pm." She said this even though she could clearly see me waiting at the bar, and the sign beside the door to the bar (which was propped open) stated it opened at noon. As I waited in the lobby, she told several people they didn't need tickets and could go right to their theatres. Why bother to print tickets if anyone can walk in and proceed to any theater without presumably paying? Once in the theater we ordered a meat pizza which arrived 40 minutes later and looked and tasted like a very small cheap frozen pizza. There was a total of 5 people in the theater for the movie. I can see why business is in the tank. If I could, I would have given it zero stars. read more

I have loved Alamo Drafthouse since high school in Lubbock. Even during my time at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, I was so ecstatic when we finally got an Alamo in Downtown LA. Consistent quality of food and visual content. This brings back the old cinema experience with class, personalized appeal, and premium service. Comfort, good food, and an appreciation of cinematic history are all huge selling points from Alamo that I have never seen in another theater. Get to the theater early for a drink in the special movie-themed bar, or sit down at your seat before the movie for specific content explaining the context of the movie you're about to watch. Watching a movie at Alamo makes you appreciate the ART behind a movie, how it was shot, whether it was 35 mm film style, or putting up the classics relevant to the current social climate or time of year. Enjoy your burger, privacy, and enforced peace and quiet during the movie. Movie theaters don't have to be low-brow or your seat full of sticky gum. In 2022, I think this personalized, individualistic approach is the best thing that has happened to movie theaters. Extremely happy to see that it's reopened, and I plan to visit again next week when my girlfriend visits from LA! Also: what people are expecting from this Cinema is not what it is. Many people want a get in, and get out, low service, low cost experience. That's not what this is, and not what it has ever tried to be. The spirit of Alamo Drafthouse is to bring quality content, food, service, and an appreciation for film history (AND present trends, like Anime, or Korean films) that would make any moviegoer blush. Is it the cheapest ticket? Absolutely not. Is the food good? You betcha, even if it can be a bit pricey at times. Is it worth it? Without a doubt, YES YES YES. This brings the heart and class back to the cinema, and as a 23-year old from California, I can confidently say it's just the personalized, premium, theater experience we need in the new age of convenience and streaming services. I'm from Austin so started with the very 1st drafthouse. So happy they have grown so much! Went to see a movie for Xmas and had the best pizza!! Goat cheese bacon and brussel sprouts!! Can't find this kind of pizza in Lubbock like yu can other places! Love it! Even ordered one to take home days after. It was way too cooked and the manager very graciously replaced it for me! Ok, so this was so much fun that I'm looking for more places like this to go to!! I was visiting my daughter over Thanksgiving and she took us here. I don't know how much the tickets cost nor the cost of the food because it was all taken care of. What I do know is how great the movie was and how comfy the seats are. You are able to recline, have the footrest out, turn the heat on or use a blanket, and the food comes to you. Speaking of food, that was very good too! I had a pizza (my favorite food of all time), but there were also some wings and other food ordered. Everyone loved what they got. The popcorn was so-so so don't get excited about that. I've read some other reviews where the food wasn't so great, so I guess you just have to take a chance. If I ever get to go again, I'm definitely going to take that chance!! Food is way better before precovid. Used to go a few times a month and half the time the food would come out cold. I've been a few times last year and it came out hot everytime. Just watched Avatar last week and had their ribeye tacos and they were delicious. Protip: Order bottomless soda and popcorn and have them make you a togo soda and put popcorn in a bag to take home. read more

In theory it's great, but I've never once had an order filled correctly or completely here. Even sitting down and ordering 30 minutes before showtime, it regularly takes 30-40 minutes to get water and a popcorn - if it ever arrives at all. I've only ever had my "bottomless" popcorn refilled once - either no one returns to take the refill order or they do but a refill never arrives. It's a cool theater but I've been so consistently disappointed with the service here that I am considering never going back. read more

Used to live in Austin, so we're pretty familiar with Alamo Drafthouse. What was originally a clever idea has grown rather stale... and expensive. First off, their theaters are quite spartan compared to their competitors. Sound and picture are not even close to being as good as Cinemark and others. Seats are hot, and the "tables" are cramped and hard to use. Then there is the food. Honestly, save your money and eat after the show. It's about the equivalent of eating at a theme park. Low quality food at silly prices. You want a cheeseburger? Sure, that'll be $14. A drink with that? Another $6+. You could eat a steak for what you would spend here for a 10" pizza and a soft drink. Service.... This is where Alamo has always lagged behind. Competitors allow you to order from an app, push a button if you need something, etc. Here, you have to use their odd pens (which do not work most of the time) to write a note in the dark and then hope a waitress sees it. Even then, you'll be waiting a while to get what you ordered. Today, the movie was completely over, but our entire row was waiting because they had not returned our credit cards. Save your time and your money. Go elsewhere in Lubbock. Much better, and more comfortable, places to enjoy a movie. read more

went here with my boyfriend when he visited me for the weekend and I don't think i'll ever come back. The service was not great, i've been to theaters that have full service before and my expectations were not met... it took 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and another 10-15 for us to get our "bottomless" popcorn and 2 sodas (which when we asked for refills it took 20 minutes for them to read our ticket and never received). I feel like they should not charge nearly 7 dollars for sodas and 10 dollars for popcorn if the customer cannot receive refills like advertised. Also, seats are very uncomfortable and very crammed we could not get comfortable. I do not recommend coming here. read more

This was my first time visiting Alamo. Drafthouse, and I'm good with never going back. Seats were way too close together, I could hear the dude next to me crunching his fries. Servers were walking right in front of you while the movie was playing, I get that it's hard, but it's a bit ridiculous. Popcorn that I paid a lot for tasted stale and I asked for butter, I don't think they put any. I just got a bad taste, I always heard such great things about this place, I'm pretty bummed. read more

The most Stupid excuse for a "movie theater" you can try and go to. Theres an age limit for a kids movie. We tried to watch trolls but couldn't because my daughter is 2 years old. Not a bad place to go and I like the idea that there were about three restaurants located on the right side of this place in case you did not want to pay $50 for a hamburger at this theater. I finally got to see it and experience what everybody was talking about, the sound was loud and clear and the screen was bright. The interior was pretty clean, so this might be a new place, not sure, I do not live in the area. Service was minimal, did not have anybody come around and ask me if I needed anything else nor was there a button to push if you needed something. Parking was plenty. read more

I am an avid moving goer and this weekend I went to two different movies at Alamo and the experiences were completely different. The first night I went to a premiere marvel movie. The server was nice but she forgot to put my order in. She apologized profusely and rushed the order. I understood this cause there was not a single empty seat in this movie. However on the other hand I went and saw a movie where my family was the only people in the theater and we literally had to hunt down a waiter to put an order in and when it came it was cold. Not the best experience for sure. Love the idea of the waiters but only if it's executed correctly. read more

this was first time at the Alamo lubbock I ordered the bottomless popcorn, and soda took them 15 minutes to bring popcorn and another 30 minutes to bring Soda. i am glad I didn't order food. I much prefer to order at the snack bar and get all my snacks at once. The seats were uncomfortable and too close to one another. The guy sitting next to me practically sneezed everywhere... We took a trip and vIsited Lubbock for the weekend. We love Alamo in Austin, so we came here. Now for review. We were 4th ones in theater; 20 Minutes before movie started. Ordered popcorn, fish and chips and on a later ticket a philly. 30 minutes later and after seeIng half the theater getting popcorn and food, the philly comes and i ask about the other stuff and they blew me off saying it's on way. 10 min later and unable to hail anyone, I go down also with the philly that had no cheese on it, and being up I issue. Amazingly popcorn shows 2 min later and food shortly after. They did comp popcorn. Knock it to a "things happen". Go again the next day. Order drinks and cookies. Get drinks. They come by 30 min later and say cookies on way. 30 more minutes and no one in theater to hail I go down again. They told me it wass raw and they made again and it was sitting and ready. 10 more minutes it finally comes out. I take it they lied and started making it since hot. Did take a cookie off bill. 0 for 2 is not a good trend. They did try and make up some but that reason got 2 instead of less. read more

My daughter invited me to go to the afternoon tea showing of "Somewhere in Time". It was my first time here. Since I eat gluten free and there were snacks that came with the event, it was important that we told them this. From the very first person we told (day and time of show) everyone was so understanding and accommodating. I got the gf special on everything, I don't begin to know how they did that with such short notice. What amazing service and hospitality. Until Lubbock somehow cures cancer, this will be the best thing to ever happen here. Sign up for Alamo Victory and keep an eye out for classic films, quote-alongs, live orchestras, cast and crew tours, advanced screenings, live Q&A's, and too many other events to name. You'll also get BOGO tickets and free nonsense. I'm usually too busy buying tickets to pay attention by then. The food and drinks are great, sometimes fantastic. Realize though you're not in a restaurant. This is a theater. You're essentially being seated with dozens of people, all ordering at the same time, and sharing the same small handful of waitstaff. In order for your food to be hot and fresh, it's going to take some time. If you think you may want to eat, each theater opens fifteen minutes prior to showtime. It's usually empty, the lights are on, and if you're quick the food might arrive just as the title sequence hits the screen. Also, of course the meal is more expensive, you're eating it in a theater. Most importantly, Alamo is a theater first and Alamo wants to share it's love of movies with you. I've seen almost every one of my all time favorites on the big screen, several more than once. What? I feel morally obligated to see Princess Bride every time it's shown. You should too. Such an opportunity to see these films would never happen anywhere else. To my delight, Alamo topped this feat, by plucking titles from blinding obscurity and carefully, gently placing them in front of my weeping eyeballs. I've caught films I never imagined I would watch, and now I can never conceive of having not seen. Some might even say, "inconceivable." In a town where there is nothing to do, Alamo is important because it's not just something to do, it's something worth doing even if there was *everything* to do. read more

Alamo Draft House is my go to place in Lubbock. I make a visit at least twice a month. It is a perfect date place, but also a great place to get a group of friends together. It is so much easy then a regular theater because you pick your seats when you pay online or on their simple app. This ensures that you will be able to sit with your party and find a place that you want without having to show up 30 minutes early. Even though you don't have to show up early, I always do. They have a restaurant and bar called "The Glass Half Full" in the building. You can order your food and eat there, or get it ordered to come to your seat in the actual theater. It is so convenient. I don't really ever go to another theater unless for some reason I really NEED to see a movie and Alamo isn't showing it. The seats at Alamo are leather and much larger then other places with a small table for all your delicious goodies you order. I cannot go without getting their $6 BOTTOMLESS popcorn with real butter. You read that right, bottomless. For only six dollars. A popcorn lovers dream. The staff has always been friendly. Seriously, I cannot believe it. I have been to this location at least 50 times and never can come up with a negative thing to say about my experience. They are fast and friendly. Hot food is important to me and them alike. Go here if you like nice things, good food, or movies. read more

Don't come here to be overly impressed or expect to get exactly what you want. But, you might come here and be impressed. I've come here many times and been overly irritated a few times and pleasantly surprised a few times. I really enjoy that you get to pick where you sit and get to order food that is generally good, but the service is hit or miss. I have also had a few specific requests for food, and haven't gotten anything right when asking for something extra or changed slightly. . So, stick to the menu and don't be picky. read more
