Hot Cheetos Elote & Sweet Potato Tempura
    Karen L.

Big space with good food & dessert. Attended the soft opening and got to try a variety of items such as the hot cheetos elote, spicy chicken po' boy, sweet potato tempura fries & little man's garlic shrimp. The elote could have used more mayo or seasoning. It was a little dry/bland to me. Other than that, the food & gelato were pretty good. Tasty shrimp! Sampled the green tea oreo and milk tea flavor gelato. Both were creamy and not too sweet. Would like to return to try their tuna tartare & other items.

Little man's garlic shrimp rice! So bomb!

Alameda Scoop! Worth the time to check this place out and try the food!!! If you love the food at Monkey King and Monkey King at the brewery in Alameda then you'll enjoy the snack options here. YES! Its kid friendly and they even have a small play section for kids.

Chrurros and cookies and cream ice cream

When we arrived I did not see the menu that was posted on here with the review.... kinda bummed out we had to settle for just a scoop of horchata ice cream the only thing they had was churros and ice cream. The horchata ice cream was delish.... I'd go back for that. One scoop was enough for me. My daughter got honey dew and that was also delish and the milk tea was okay.

I ordered chocolate because it's my favorite flavor. It was delivered in a tray-like container, which makes it look like more than a pint. Gelato isn't frozen like ice cream, it's semi-solid form makes it easy to eat. The chocolate flavor is distinct and close to perfection. The smooth texture and clean taste, creates a great frozen dessert. It's like someone took ice cream, and made it better. I'll have to try other flavors soon.

Unfortunately, I've tried ordering the Sachertorte twice now; the first time they called back 15 mins to let me know that the choice was out, and if an alternative choice was okay--- and that was absolutely fine as we got the vegan raspberry gelato. The vegan raspberry gelato was incredibly delicious. A deep red/purple color, it has raspberry seeds and is not overly sugary, and holds a sweet tartness. As there is no dairy used, the texture is as expected; not creamy, but similar to sorbet. 10/10. However, the second time I tried ordering Sachertorte, they sent me Cremino al Caffe instead of Sachertorte. A little sad because I'm not a fan of coffee and that I've been looking forward to trying Sachertorte for a while now. I might just need to go to the Oakland Food hall and wait in line to attempt one last time! Friends enjoyed the Cremino al Caffe. As I used Grubhub to order, and the gelato themselves were wonderful, I'll be giving them 4/5 for the unfortunate mishaps. Would try again.

The moment you walk into the shop, you'll notice the current flavor offerings displayed on colorful ice cream-shaped signs across the wall to the right. I could spend an eternity studying each flavor, but there's limited space to queue indoors so really gotta decide on a flavor and serving style fast in order to keep the line moving. Among the flavors were some classics, fruity/floral mixes, and dessert-inspired ones too, a whole range so there's something for everyone. I got the Breakfast Brownie and it was unforgettable! It tasted creamy and delightful without being overwhelming, while the cornflakes mixed inside added a satisfying crunch to each bite. I came back a second time before a show at Crybaby, a smaller venue across the street. Grabbing a scoop here to-go has naturally become part of my pre-concert routine at this point and I plan to come back again next time to explore more flavors. If you're ever heading to a show nearby, I'd definitely recommend stopping by beforehand for a lil energy boost and treat.

Also, whoever they have making their flavors is super creative! They list out all the flavors on the wall on super cute little ice cream scoop cut outs for you to browse while you wait in line. It is definitely more of a takeout ice cream spot with not a ton of seating so you either gotta get lucky with seating, wait for a spot, or take it to go. We got the pandan strawberry and the milk & cookies + cream. Next time I stop by I really want to try out their sundae!

But thats just my opinion. This particular Loards is located in the middle of a walk way. You have to park and walk alittle not much. I need to try all their other options. I always get the banana split. Mocha almond fudge: I liked the texture and that it's not as sweet due to the coffee and chocolate combo, it's a good flavor if you like some crunch. Matcha: It doesn't have as strong of a savory and slightly bitter taste as some places' matcha ice cream, but it was still pretty good. They give you pretty large scoops, so price is pretty on par with ice cream nowadays.

We have been extremely loyal customers ever since. They rotate flavors, but through many months and many visits I don't think I've ever tried a bad one. The flavors are also very fun, not your typical cookies and cream, cookie dough, etc. Although they do have a plain version sometimes. The employees are very helpful and kind letting you sample the flavors. Our absolute favorite is tinky winky- ube flavored ice cream with honey comb pieces. They also sell points to the side- take advantage. You'll want more when you're done! The ambiance and vibe of bad Walter's is perfect. Bright colors, disco ball dripping, fun sayings on the cups, the whole 9 yards. The take home pint we got has Reddit "hate" comments and their responses, it's hilarious. This ice cream store is way more of a vibe than any marketing agent could dream of. Who would've thought I wish I could be a rep for an ice cream company? Oh and they also do a stamp card when you buy pints to get a free scoop. You bring in the containers so they can recycle them. It's a win win for both sides, loves it. Best ice cream ever!!!

If you're sensitive to lactose at all (even short of being intolerant), you'll most likely notice a difference in how good you feel after eating Bad Walter's compared to other dairy ice creams. I talk about this place to friends all the time, I don't think you can go wrong with anything they have here. I've been lucky enough to try four of their flavors, and each one showcases their signature silky texture and deep flavor. All are not too sweet! My personal favorite is the Kyoto Matcha - the matcha is high-quality, with a vivid green color and rich flavor that balances beautifully with the creamy cheesecake base. The Original is a classic for a reason with deeply caramelized top and creamy interior. I also tried the Iribancha, a roasted green tea flavor. It's intense, smoky, and unique..maybe not one I could finish in one sitting, but definitely memorable and recommend for those who want that earthy/smoky taste. The truffle was also a standout, adding just enough umami to round out the sweetness. Preorders drop via Instagram (@basukucheesecakes) and sell out lightning-fast. Otherwise, plan to line up for slices! Wishing Basuku all the best on their next chapter. Fingers crossed for a return to the Bay someday! Until then, don't miss your chance to try what might be the best cheesecake you've ever had.
