I was driving down doolittle dr and was cut off at the merge by a earbud wearing female taxi driver. She then slowed to nearly a stop, so I looked ahead and went to pass. At that point she decided to speed up and block me into the oncoming traffic, speeding up and slowing down to keep me in oncoming traffic . Then came oncoming vehicles, yet she would not yield. My autistic daughter was screaming as we narrowly escaped the head on collision. We then came to the red light and I exited my vehicle to give her a piece of my mind. She kept her window up and made obscene gestures. She is crazy and should not be allowed to drive anyone anywhere ever. She is the owner and operator so complaints are futile. read more

I called last night at 8:30pm to request a cab at 4:30am to get to work. I asked the dispatcher twice if this was going to be a problem. "No problem." Flash forward to 4:30am and I am standing on a street corner with no cab in sight. I called repeatedly to see what was up and no one answered the phone. Super frustrating on top of the initial frustration of not showing up. I wound up calling Uber. Then I got a call at 9:25am saying "your cab is waiting outside." I told them my story and got a "sorry for that." Nice people, but you HAVE to keep reservations. People are relying on cabs for flights and work, things that don't take "sorry for that" as an excuse. read more

"Ruby" or "Nirmal" are my regular drivers and they ALWAYS make sure I am picked up on time and get to work on time. They are very nice people. This review is a double edge sword; if I praise Alameda City Cab too highly the demand for their services may increase and less available to me. I have used this company almost exclusively since moving to Alameda earlier this year. Alameda City Cab (ACC) is family run, dependable, trustworthy, and ethical and knows the short cuts around the Alameda Island with reasonable rates. One example, most taxis use the 'tube' and freeway to and from the OAK Airport to increase the fare, it has been done to me; ACC takes the drawbridge route cutting travel in half. The reason Not a Five Star: When ACC is busy they outsource to other cab companies that do not know Alameda City, most are from neighboring Oakland. read more

So in Alameda findin a cab can be a little difficult. 1, because I found out that in Alameda you have to have a special license or permit to pick up in Alameda. Weird. 2, no one ever wants to come over here. I came across Alameda City Cab service coming home from Oakland after work. The cab driver was very nice and quick in getting me home, no BS routs. They are that good I use them as much as I can when needing a cab. They make it convenient for me to text them if I need a cab and usually are quick in response. I have had a couple times where there was no response or I didn't receive one of my normal, preferred drivers, which meant they took longer routs or just didn't know where they were going. Overall though, the main guy, I believe who runs the company has always made it up to me, and for that I will continue to refer them to friends and customers of my own. As a customer who doesn't take services in general for granted, I definitely respect this company and all they try to do to get people where they need to go, cause it isn't easy doing what they do, and very few recognize that. I have had more good rides than bad from this company and highly suggest if you are leaving from Alameda, or trying to get back to Alameda. Call Alameda City Cab. 9 out of 10 times you won't be disappointed. read more

We called last night to schedule a taxi ride to bart- explained it was for a flight so timeliness was of the essence, and we were given a flat rate. Sounds good, but This morning I wait ten minutes, no show. Call several times, no answer. Ten more minutes, still nothing. So I called Alameda Cab and luckily they showed up in no time!! My girlfriend and I used this taxi cab service to take us to Oakland Airport. We left very early in the morning, like 5am and they were ready to pick us up. The driver that day actually called us about 10-15min before our pick-up time. The driver took a back road that had minimal stoplights and traffic sign, so that was nice of the driver to take that route! Raman is always professional and on time, if not early for call-ahead pickups. Their other drivers are courteous and pleasant, which is a rarity in the cab world. It's a small company with only a few cars and drivers, so when they're unavailable, Alameda City Cab may have to send your pickup request to another cab company. Keep that in mind during the busy hours. I think that some (repeat, some) of the negative reviews may actually be about those other drivers from different dispatched companies. I requested a pickup last Friday and they wrote down the wrong time. When I needed my ride and hadn't heard from them (not knowing they wrote down the wrong pickup time) I called to find out what happened. They apologized and admitted their mistake, told me someone would be at my home within three minutes, and he was there in four minutes. Raman came to pick me up in the black Lexus which they normally only use for airport pickups. The cost was the same. They realized they made a mistake and corrected it quickly and professionally. Ok so after reading the other reviews, it's going to sound like I'm copying, but this is serious, she's at it again. Horrible, horrible driver!! The driver of their white van #001 this day sped up to try to beat me at the 2 lane to 1 lane conversion on Doolittle at park street in Alameda. From the sounds of it she's done this before because similar to another review it was a ear bud wearing lady. She had little magnetic signs on the side of her van but after cutting me off, and seeing I was trying to get beside her, she reached out and took it off the drivers door. I still got the information and called her company. I think she's the one answering the phone so it won't go anywhere but it was nice to tell her how crappy of a driver she is. They took care of both of them to their destination. 4. No other cab in the area would drive out of the area or would take them almost three times as long to arrive. 5. I always use Alameda City Cab to get to/from Oakland International Airport. I set up the appointment online and that's it. Easy peasy. They are courteous, friendly, helpful, on time, and half the price of other airport ride services. I learned that the hard way when I hopped in a different cab at the airport to get home. The driver refused to take Otis Drive and went on the freeway instead -- it cost literally twice as much. Never again. If I could give no stars or negative stars I would. This review is for the driver not the company. The driver was outsourced. First I was told I needed cash instead of using my credit card. When I called in the morning I was told credit cards were fine. The driver was racist. He spent 5 minutes talking about how he didn't like black people and how he refused to service black people. I am often traveling and use ACC for pick ups and drop offs. Raman and his family are usually on time, but when they aren't, they are apologetic and communicative. The drivers are personable, the cabs are clean, and they are responsive when I advise them as to the need for ample luggage space. I agree with other reviewers that the continual texting/talking while driving is unnerving and a hands free device should be purchased/used...but I challenge you to find one cabbie who isn't attached to their phone 24-7... I had last minute travel plans change and needed a ride from Alameda to SFO for me, my luggage, and my 45lb dog who was also traveling with me. I'm also pregnant so I needed a driver who would be able to lift the dog kennel into the cab. I explained my needs and they sent a new, comfortable, clean van and an amazing driver who was super helpful in getting me and my pooch situated in the van and helping me with unloading at the airport. On the return trip I had to make a stop at the cargo facility to pick up my dog. He helped me carry the kennel and waited while I took my pup on a potty break. Great, great service and he charged me a flat rate instead of the metered rate which was much more costly. I will definitely be using them again! Had an early flight out from Oakland Airport and scheduled a pickup locally in Alameda, trying this car company for the first time. Needed to leave my house at 5:15am to make my plane so I called twice (once on Thursday and once on Friday) to confirm this company could pick me up at the early time and the guy said "oh yes of course, no problem see you then". Step outside on Saturday at 5:15am and no car is here. 5:20am nothing. 5:25am nothing. Each minute that ticks by, we are Getting more worried about missing the flight. So I call the guy, no answer. Wife starts freaking out. I'm freaking out. 5:30am. Call the guy again and he picks up "oh I'm so sorry your driver will be there in 5 minutes". 5:35am nothing. I can feel the anxiety building up when I trusted someone to get me to the airport at a specific time and they just do not show up. Now at this point I open the Uber app and it says it'll be 20 minutes to get a ride and we would surely miss the flight so we are totally stuck. It is 5:38am now and nobody is here. I don't know what to believe. Was there ever a driver in the way? At 23 minutes late for an early morning flight, was the guy in the phone going to keep saying 5 more minutes? Finally we just frantically decide to drive our own car to the airport and eat the hundreds of dollars in daily parking costs because it is better than missing the flight. That's the first and only experience I had with this company and I have all the phone records to prove this is exactly what occurred down to the minute. read more

Car troubles caused me to need a ride to work in San Leandro. I haven't lived in Alameda very long and didn't know who to call, so I took a shot in the dark and it worked out very well! Ramen was my driver BOTH days. He was very pleasant. He drives a nice, clean van. I called both days about an hour before I needed him to pick me up. He was on time both days, so I didn't have to worry about being late. I'm normally pretty freaked out when someone else drives, but he was a very courteous driver and not aggressive like most cabs I've ridden in. Definitely a good experience!
