My mother was on the commode at the time when they arrived. They hooked her up to a heart monitor. She evidently passed on the commode. My sister called vitas back and said she passed. They told her they will send a social worker. My sister said no not to do it. After afew hours vitas called wanting to pick up their bed. We said my mom was still.in the bed. We were waiting for the mortuary to pick her up. Afew days later vitas sent the nurse and aide to our house to take care of my mom. Apparently they were not told about her passing.

Our family was very fortunate to receive a referral which led us to the doorstep of Classic Care Home of Walnut Creek. Beth and Ed Quintong, their family members and their family of exceptional caregivers; Maria, Lynn, JoJo, Peter and Chris, were able to provide our Mom with extraordinary care and companionship when she most required it. Affording her a true sense of home, safety and belonging in her final years. Beth and her care-giving staff make a point of personally connecting with their residents. This allows them the insight to identify and provide for the individual's needs beyond rote care scenarios. It translates to more opportunities for residents to experience joy and contentment, despite the daily challenges with which they contend. Encouragement and personal social engagement are the cornerstones of Classic Care's approach to providing positive and caring support for their residents. In that review, I said that Beth, her family, and the caregivers at Classic Care had become our family. So naturally, when we needed care for my mother, we again turned to Classic Care. About 18 months ago, we knew my mother needed help; but, as I believe is true of many others, she would not acknowledge that need and would become angry at the mere mention of care. It was Beth's kindness and family spirit that finally convinced her. "We're your family," Beth said. And Beth, her husband and children, and the other caregivers followed through; I cannot imagine a more loving environment for my mother's last year. I've also so appreciated Beth's support of ME. I know this is not about me, of course, but Beth always offered wonderful words of wisdom as I coped with my mother's increasing memory loss and behavioral changes.

I googled Hospice and came across MD Choice that had some good reviews. I had no idea who I was calling but there had to have been some divine intervention pushing me to this call and this company. After a few questions I received a call from Dr De Leon who was the most compassionate and caring doctor I have come across. He sensed my immediate need, came straight out to the house, assessed my mother and went himself to the pharmacy to pick up the needed medications. He knew the urgency and took it upon himself to do all the footwork. He obtained the needed comfort medication, stabilized my mother and allowed my mother to pass peacefully all within a matter of hours from making that initial call. When she did pass that evening, he again, arranged for everything from the pronouncing to the calls according to the pre-arrangements. Without MD Choice and the connection with Dr De Leon, I don't know how I would have been able to handle the situation. His immediate response on a Sunday, his Taking control of the situation and quick actions made such a difference in the final few hours my mother had. If you find yourself in a situation like this and needing someone to help in this time, I highly recommend MD Choice and Dr De Leon. I am forever grateful to MD Choice and Dr De Leon for acting so quickly and with such caring and love in this terrible time of need.
