She took down my info, gave me a fare, and an ETA for the driver. She gave me an ETA of 20-30 mins, which wasn't accurate because the driver still had a fare onboard. It turned out to be more like 45-60 mins before the driver arrived. So allow extra time for the driver to pick you up. The driver did call me when he was enroute. He arrived in a super clean Prius, and apologized for being late. He used a direct route to where I was going, and there wasn't much delays. I would use this cab service again.

I had read about Thunder Express Taxi on Yelp, and their service was very well reviewed, so I gave them a call. The driver (I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't get his name), picked up on the first ring, told me he'd be there in ten minutes, and arrived in nine. He was quick, cordial, extremely helpful with my multi-faceted and rather heavy luggage, and made no complaint when I asked him to drop me less than a mile away. In short, Thunder Express in every way lived up to the great reviews I had read on Yelp. Because I have had bad luck with taxis in the past, when I was safely delivered to my doorstep, I offered the driver a fairly generous tip. "It's too much," he said, and tried to argue me down (very politely), something that I have never experienced before. Thanks to Thunder Express for bringing a very long day of travel to a very stress-free, easy, end.

Called in and was picked up in the 5 mins that they said they would. It was a black taxi, which looked more like a police car to me. But the driver was really sweet. He took me to my location in less than 10 minutes without breaking any laws or traffic violations, which is a plus for safe driving. The inside was clean and well kept. He did minimal small talk which I appreciated since he wasn't trying to pry into my life and learn my life story before the ride was over. Exceptional service, I will be calling them for my taxi needs if ever needed again! But if you're stranded at Lake Merritt Bart Station, they are the best people to call for your transporting needs!

I called five days prior to my early-morning flight. I got a voice mail and left a message, and within moments I got a call back from a very polite and professional man. So far so good. I gave him my flight information, and initially he said, "Call to reserve the day before the flight." There was a pause as I began to formulate the words to say, um, no, sorry I want a service which will take a reservation now. I knew the day before my flight was going to be crazy busy, and I needed to take finding a limo off my plate in advance. He seemed to read my mind and jumped into the pause and said don't worry, you can reserve now. He took my flight info, my address, and my phone number. I should have realized it was a red flag that he didn't take my cc#. Well, my flight day rolled around and it was 7:45 a.m. and no limo had arrived at my address I called his phone number and kept getting voice mail. After a few tries, I left a message, and got no return phone call back within a half hour. It was now a serious emergency, and I had to call a cab company and beg for someone to come ASAP. I ended up giving a $20 tip to the guy who saved me. It's possible this service is fine if you operate as he prefers, by calling the day before. However, I would highly recommend anyone who wants a reservation in advance go to another service. The reason for the one-star rating is that he wasn't honest with me. If he's not able to take reservations in advance by more than a day, he should hold firm to that rather than promising something he can't deliver.

I never got a response and I should have taken that as a clue. I called them last night and booked the 6 a.m. pick up that way. I was directed to send my address via text, which I did, and I got a text back confirming the pick up. So then I purchased the Yelp deal online for the $75 airport ride for $67, And then 6 a.m. this morning, I'm sitting by the window, with my suitcase next to me, waiting, watching. Nothing. 6:05. Nothing. 6:10. Nothing. I call the number. No one picks up. I send a text message and I get back the response "Sending a car now." Then I get a phone call from some other guy saying that he's driving from Berkeley and will pick me up in 10 minutes. 6:30 am a car finally shows up. This is an entirely different guy (who actually frightened me a couple of times during the ride with his reckless driving). I made my flight but probably wouldn't have if I had to check in bags. And guess what? I find out only when I get to the airport that 510 Airport Taxi had called ANOTHER taxi service to pick me up. So when I go to pay with the Yelp voucher, the driver refuses to take it because he's not with 510 Airport Taxi. Now I'm just trying to get my Yelp voucher refunded. I had to pay that guy, essentially paying for this awful taxi ride twice and now I'm getting texts from 510 Airport Taxi asking if I want to use the voucher for a ride from airport on my return trip (NO!) and that I have to contact Yelp for the refund. This is not a taxi service with a dispatcher. This is a guy who owns a car and a cell phone. BAD NEWS all around!

I had to wait until I took possession of a home in Van Wert, OH that I bought which would take a month. This necessitated my stay in a hotel up there. My family and I were going to fly up there, but just one problem: we have a cat. How do we get to the airport? We had no one that could give us a ride. Uber still does not offer services to take your pet on the vehicle, leaving it up to the individual driver to decide. I didn't want to have to deal with that. I did some research, and I found Wingz. It's a lot like Uber but they specialize in getting people to and from airports. More importantly you can arrange for pickup at a particular time and they accept pets! Awesome! I arranged pick up to Miami International Airport and put in the notes how many bags and the fact we are also taking a cat. Miguel Angel, the driver, picked us up and took us to the airport. The Chevy Suburban was clean, roomy and quite comfortable... more than big enough for the entire family including my cat. If you need a ride to the airport with your pet, check out Wingz.

The first was a few years ago; we were on the way to the airport and the driver started asking prying, personal questions. Heck, we hadn't even been talking to him and suddenly he wants to ask about things that are none of his business. Ok, reported that to the company and they said they'd make sure he never picked us up again and they'd work with him on what's appropriate. Second bad experience was today: about three hours before a pickup that we booked well in advance we get an email saying the driver can't make it and there isn't any backup so we're on our own. What the heck? You'd think that at the very least they would have offered us a free cab ride or something but nothing, zip, zero. Just a sorry we're not going to be there. This service is a bit more expensive than others but we paid it for the peace of mind; that's gone now.
