This one is also conveniently located by the Tom Graham Arena so there are facilities and parking nearby. They had an art show the day we were going so the lot was quite full on the side closest to he community center but there was still a lot of parking spots farther on. The skate trail actually has a little dedicated area for changing that's indoors or they have tables and benches outside (fingers might get cold!). It's a trail through some trees that kind of loops around so it's a lot more interesting than going around in circles. They play music as well to add to the liveliness.

An average skater could skate the entire trail in 1-1.5 mins. Unfortunately there are no skate rentals onsite. This trail is part of the park part of College Park (so many P's!). It was officially opened on 2019-12-07. It is the first outdoor skating path in North America to incorporate state-of-the-art carbon dioxide technology in its refrigeration system. This environmentally friendly technology is natural, non-toxic and non-flammable, with no net greenhouse gas effect. They use a zamboni to smoother the ice. There are 2 firepits nearby and 3 ice sculptures. There is an event called Skates and Sounds held on 2020-01-24, 2020-02-07, 2020-02-28 (all Fridays), 5-7pm, where they have a DJ, FREE 1-hour skate rentals, FREE skating frames for young children, free coffee, and free chocolates. It was my first time skating in more than 3 years and the last time I skated (in Jan. 2020) it was my first visit to this Trail which was also for an Event with my skating Group. The Trail features a relatively warm indoor change room/area with a washroom but no skate rentals are available here. The Trail itself is fairly small and (of course) narrow, and when I started skating yesterday at 1:30 pm both the change room and the Trail were pretty barren. During the next 1 1/2 hours both the change room and Trail gradually became more crowded; shortly after I started skating music began playing through speakers situated around the Trail and as I was putting on my skates in the change room, several people started setting up a table for free skate rentals (subject to availability) with valid ID. Between 2:30 - 2:45 pm the Zamboni came out for ice maintenance; due to the small size of the Trail this only took about 10 - 15 minutes. Afterward I skated around the Trail a couple more times to check how much better the quality of ice was - it was considerably better - then finished shortly before 3 pm. I've skated on a few other outdoor Trails in Toronto over the years: the Colonel Samuel Smith Skating Trail in Etobicoke, the Trail at Evergreen Brick Works and The Bentway Trail underneath The Gardiner; this one is smaller than the Etobicoke Trail, about the same size as The Bentway Trail and larger than The Brickworks Trail and it's now the first Trail I've skated on more than once. With College Park next door and Yonge Street steps away there are no shortage of amenities nearby. The Trail features 'Skates & Sounds' every Friday throughout February, with a different DJ every week and free skate rentals (again, subject to availability) from 5 to 8 pm.

Outside, there's a waterfall and a reflecting pool which becomes a skating rinks in winter plus the surrounding Albert Campbell Square. Many City of Toronto plus community groups hold events here year round. Examples include job fairs and concerts. I had to get them re-sharpened at SportChek for $7 (16 and Woodbine) where they had to re-sharpened my blades. The staff was surprised at how terrible they were considering I had purchased them this year. Skate rental is available but I'd recommend just saving up and buying your own (even used in kijiji) skates. I'd be weary on those rental skates given how terrible the lady screwed up my blades. *** Indoor area not available *** Due to the pandemic, the small indoor area is closed off to the public. So you'll need to change your skates outdoors on the wooden benches. Occasionally there is a staff there but this rink is mostly unsupervised. You're not supposed to be figure skating / practicing hockey moves, but no one is there to enforce it. *** Environment *** The stairs to get to the rink are poorly lit. There's currently a Christmas tree at the entrance but the stairs are not lit at all. They need to fix the lamppost or install new lights bc it's dark enough you can't see people when going down the stairs and might hit / step on a kid playing in the area. There are no lockers / storage available so be sure to travel light and leave your bulkier items in the car. No access to heating area or washrooms. The theatre next door may be open but not sure about welcoming guests to use the facility. Best to drive across the plaza to the washrooms at a restaurant like McDonalds. *** Skating Rink *** Rubber floor mats are limited facing the side of the Civic Centre building where the benches are located to change. It would be better if mats were expanded all around the rink along with additional benches. This would help reduce the crowding and close contact of others during this pandemic. Shaped more like an oval than a circle or rectangle, it's a decent size for skating when it's not too busy. I do find the ice to be uneven / dented / marked up even after the zambino has cleaned the ice. During the evenings, lights are available along with dated 2000s music on repeat. I've been coming here for years and it's still the same, so of course I'd be bored of the music. Bring your earphones to keep yourself entertained.

We arrived with no reservations. We were placed on a waiting list. I told the nice lady my sons will come collect their bracelets at 5:35pm if there is any no shows of the people that registered. This was at 4pm. I went back home. 2. At 5:40pm my kids call me to inform me that they can't get on the ice because they are not of legal age to sign the waiver. Yes you must sign a waiver for Covid tracing. I get it but why wasn't this told to me when I was there? So I have to leave home get back to the rink to sign the waiver. 3. By the time this was completed, the boys got to skate for 10 min. I'm sure your thinking be great full they even got to skate. However, we left home at 3:30pm the kids waited 1:45 outside. We are now leaving the rink at 6:25pm and they got ten min. of skating. I hope this helps other and you don't have to go through this the next time you decide to go for a skate on an outdoor rink.

As a box lacrosse arena, it gets the job done, but it would be nice if the rink had turf. Otherwise, it was a good venue, the sightlines were good and concessions were good as well with reasonable prices. Admission ($10) was a good price for an evening of entertainment, and it was an enjoyable way to spend the evening. I look forward to coming back for another game next season.

Markham, where I live, also is a part of this region. I was finally eligible to book both my COVID-19 vaccination appointments. My options were to find a pharmacy that had vaccine appointments available, do a drive-thru shot clinic in Whitchurch-Stouffville, or come to a clinic set up at Trisan Centre. My options looked bleak at first. I was on the waiting list at three different pharmacies near me. All appointments at the drive-thru clinic in Whitchurch-Stouffville were booked. The clinic at Trisan Centre had lots of appointments available. I was so relieved! I booked both appointments online through York region's site and was good. I took half the day off from work to come here today. I was impressed by how organized and friendly all staff were. It was easy finding this place. I was first greeted by a woman who conducted triage with each car coming into the parking lot. I learned that there were two lineups: walk-ins and appointments. Since I fell into the appointments category, I was instructed to swing to the back left of the building and line up on the other side of the tent. The lineup that I saw speaking to the woman was the walk-in one. I headed into the lineup and waited. It was a gorgeous 20C outside. I had absorbed more vitamin D in line than I probably did all winter last year. While waiting, a female staff member asked me to fill out the King screening set of questions online. It was straightforward. When I finally got to the entrance, I spoke with a woman who found my name on her list after asking when my appointment was. She then asked me to walk through the doors. Another woman asked me to sanitize my hands. I then met up with a man who wanted to see my screening results. I was good. He pointed me over to a man who would take my health card information, ask a few more questions, and then gave me the nod to head inside the hockey arena that is now a vaccination clinic. It has been over a year since I have set foot in any hockey arena. It felt good. Trisan Centre is home to the Schomberg Cougars (minor hockey). The arena is pretty cool with plexiglass dividers in the seating areas. They may not make folks who are afraid of heights or something comfortable, but I liked the modern, open vibe that they gave. Everyone was nice and professional. I got to vaccine station 8 and had the nicest medical doctor, Wasan, who asked me some more screening questions. She then asked me which arm I wanted the vaccine and she did a wonderful job explaining everything to me as I got my shot. I sat in the observation area for fifteen minutes. I then headed to my car and headed home. I felt safe and great afterwards. Doors were open at the arena, so there was lots of ventilation. Hand sanitizer was everywhere. Chairs were constantly being sanitized. All precautions were being taken. It has been roughly seven hours since I had my shot. I don't have any soreness in my arm. I do have a dull, mild headache, which is a side effect and is nearly gone. I would love to check out a hockey game here when things are back to normal. In the meantime, Trisan Centre is a perfect vaccine clinic for York region. The drive was relaxing and I can finally say that I've been to Schomberg! (164)
