Really enjoyed my visit here! I came here in a Saturday night with a friend. Parking was relatively easy and we were able to find a spot near the restaurant. When we walked in, we were greeted by the staff and immediately sat at a table near the patio. We were able to meet the manager who was very kind and assisted us on our order for food and drink orders. For food, we ordered the French fries and the bread. The bread came out like a pizza and was really delicious. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant. It was really pretty inside and we loved how chill it felt. Went there during their soft opening period at 3am. I was happy to see someone replace the previous business which I loved because they stayed open past 4am. I was greeted by one of the partners and after browsing the menu a bit he just said to forget about it and asked me what were some ingredients that I liked. I few minutes later he presented me with a delicious combination of ingredients on my perfectly cooked pizza. It had an exotic flavor that I really liked and there were sesame seed sprinkles on it which I'd never had. When the hipsters were walking out of the WeHo Pride festivities on Saturday night, they were all jamming into either Shake Shack or Barney's Beanery. Predictable choices, of course, but Jamie W. and I were looking to avoid the crowds and found this family-run Middle Eastern restaurant right on the corner of La Cienega and Santa Monica. Except for one party of five, it was empty. Probably because they have a hookah lounge, they're open until 5AM every night, a factoid that might be helpful for some future night of debauchery. It was only around 9PM when we showed up, and we were warmly greeted by the female owner. I've been here only twice and I think it's the best hookah lounge I've been to for a long time and for sure the best in Los Angeles. Ordered delivery from here this weekend. I hate writing bad reviews and really do my best to be positive and generous, but this was such a disappointing meal. It genuinely bummed me out since this was my big take-out meal for this weekend and I basically had to force myself to choke it down. The chicken shawarma combo looked unappetizing (it was covered in a sauce that resembled puke) and was practically inedible. The flavor and texture were not good and I had to cover it in hummus just to get it down. The hummus was a bit bitter, in my opinion. The rice was dry and bland. The pita tasted stale. I couldn't even touch the salad as it looked limp and soggy. The grape leaves were decent although they were a bit loosely wrapped and falling apart -- not a huge deal. They are also served hot which I don't really like (but that's not a complaint, just preference). I'm giving them an extra star because I genuinely feel bad and maybe they're affected by Covid, I don't know. Although I'm not convinced that this is a reason to serve inedible food to customers. This place is the True definition of a Hole in the wall kind of restaurant where you find incredible food that just surprise you. I've lived a couple blocks from here for a while and I always wondered about the food here because it's basically the only real kebab Place that's within walking distance of me in west Hollywood. I finally gave it a try today at midnight, and even though I was a little hesitant about the food since this place also serves hookah. It turned out to be an incredible decision. The hookah is served outside only so it will not interfere with the dining area which is inside. They are completely separated except you might smell a little bit of the hookah coming into the restaurant. I ordered the chicken kebab plate and it was the best kebab I have had in Los Angeles yet. Lovely homemade food. The hummus was one of the best hummus I've ever had. They didn't have soy milk, but I'm too privileged to complain about that. The watermelon hookah was incredible. We had a lot of fun listening to the music. I didn't get her name but the female owner, I assume, is a sweetheart. No beverages from outdoors! They will be taken away. My mistake completely, though. I feel bad writing this review, but I have to. I ordered dinner through grubhub tonight. Although this place is less than a mile from my apartment, it took almost 1.5 hours to arrive. I had to call when the quoted delivery window had passed. The driver did finally arrived almost 30 minutes after the quoted time and showed me that he had just received my food about 10 minutes before he arrived. I had ordered a salmon kabob. As you can tell by the picture I received two pieces of really over cooked salmon on a whole lot of rice. I was as hungry as I was disappointed and ate mostly salad, before I gave up. We came to Al Layali after attending Universal Studios Horror Nights since it was open late. We were looking for a spot with good hookah and food. Unfortunately Al Layali IS NOT IT. The owner was very sweet at first, although she told us to seat ourselves and all the tables were dirty with plates. This was no big deal so we sat down and patiently waited. She took 15 minutes to just bring us menus. When she finally did bring us menus we ordered our hookahs and food. When she brought the drinks she messed up my drink and brought a hot tea when i asked for raspberry iced tea, which is on their menu. I told her she said oh so sorry, no big deal right? She took that hot green tea back and then we waited. We waited more and waited more. Then she came and we asked again for the peach iced tea right? I said no raspberry then she said "ok habibi". Then she comes back with a Snapple fruit punch and asked "is this ok habibi". I'm not picky so I said sure. When the hookahs came out the apple heads were uneven, foil was sinking clearly from an under packed head, and charcoal were BLACK. She said these are red these are coconut charcoal they're the best etc. as if we didn't know. We smoke hookah very regularly both at home and have gone to many different hookah bars. None have ever tried to convince me that these coals are properly lit and the hookah is the best. We complained about hookahs 5+ times when finally we decided we didn't want them. The owners son who was very nice but just couldn't get it right said "it's not an option" to take the hookah back but he will make us refills free of charge. As if this is doing us a favor, the first head never hit at all and tasted like the charcoal. At this point it's 4am we have been dealing with this over and hour and we have not had any hookah. We decided we don't want the hookahs since they have not hit at all and we will pay for our food and leave. The owner said "you guys think you can just come here get free hookah and leave?" We never had a hookah to smoke. Then she tries to only charge us for one hookah which we also refused to because we never smoked either one. The charcoal were black. She starts to yell in my wife's face and I asked her to please talk with some respect and don't yell at my wife. We will happily pay for the food and drinks. My wife then told her she will leave a yelp review due to her yelling and she said "don't do that shit, I will give for 60$ instead of 83 don't do that shit". She then said she will comment back and say "she gave us best hookahs, she's never had bad customers before, nobody has ever complained etc" ALL LIES...and it can't be true of other customers if this is how shes running the show and that's how horrible the hookahs are. (Look out for her comment!! She already told us she will be doing it so let's see what type of lie when replies) We happily paid all 83 for the mediocre food and incorrect drinks and told her now not only you yelled you also cursed at customer. Horrible hookah, mediocre food, horrible service and disrespectful. She thinks she can yell and talk however to customers and try to cheat them by charging them for a service that was not provided. Maybe someone who doesn't know anything about hookah would think this was ok but this was by far the WORST I have ever seen. If it wasn't for her yelling and talking to my wife like this I wouldn't even leave the review because I do not like hurting small businesses and support them always. She tried to make us sound cheap and tried to rip us off. She was very sweet to greet us at first and spoke very sweetly with habibi in every sentence. We were adoring her at first, but unfortunately when the hookah issue was brought up and she refused to help us and then started to yell and curse everything spiraled.
