D Spot - Blueberry ice cream

My friend, Chris, had suggested that we drop by a D Spot last Wednesday after a Yelp experience at Musubi. It was National Dessert Day. You could get a free scoop of ice cream. I was game. I suggested coming to this location, as it would be closer to where we were. This D Spot is located in the same plaza as Booster Juice, Winners, Shoppers Drug Mart, and more. We met up here. I had no problem backing into an available parking spot. I walked into D Spot and Chris was already there. We waited to be seated. We got a booth and looked at the menu. It was extensive! He got an iced mocha. I went with strawberry waffle sandwiches. They looked small in the menu photo, but with the ice cream, they were huge when they were in front of me. My friend enjoyed his drink. It looked yummy. I thoroughly enjoyed my strawberry waffle sandwiches. The waffles were warm and perfect. The vanilla ice cream paired well with the strawberry syrup. There were white chocolate chips on top, which I liked a lot more than your typical milk chocolate chips. I paid at the table. I tapped and tipped with my credit card. Done! Chris had shared D Spot's Instagram post on getting a free scoop of ice cream. I thought that I simply needed to show the post. When I got to the counter, a nice man helped me out. He showed me a QR code on his phone where I needed to fill out a form to get my coupon for the free scoop. No where on this company's IG post did it state that I had said to go to a site to fill a form out. I tried scanning the QR code. It didn't work. My guess was that it was because his phone's screen protector was cracked and my phone didn't like it. I had to dig through D Spot's IG account. I found the link to the form in one of its stories. I filled it out, but the text didn't come immediately. I frankly don't look at every story that businesses post. They disappear in 24 hours. It would have been more practical to have had it linked in its bio or in the actual IG post. There was one young woman who didn't like waiting behind me and basically forced her way to be served as politely as she could. She was impatient. I didn't take it to heart. I was focused on trying to get to this link and fill it out. My friend ordered a free scoop of blueberry ice cream. He was waiting for it. I visited the washroom. He had indicated that the sink was as small was the size of my plate with the ice cream sandwiches. It was a compact space. The single stall was clean. I still didn't get a text message for my free ice cream scoop. I was okay not getting it. After all, my sandwiches had two generous scoops of vanilla ice cream. He got his scoop of blueberry ice cream. I followed him out the door as he ate some. It smelled so good. We chatted a bit before we both headed our separate ways. I got into my car and my text message came with a link to my coupon. It took thirty minutes. I showed Chris. We both chuckled. I headed back into the store. I got what he got -- a scoop of blueberry ice cream. I was so happy to get a third scoop of ice cream. The blueberry was delicious. It was creamy and had a lot of decent blueberry flavour. Other than the missing link to the form in the post, I'm glad that I can finally say that I've been to this D Spot and had a decent experience. I'd come here again and get a milkshake or something else off the menu. (441)

Of course, we had to peruse their huge menu and ended up ordering some treats. She had their Strawberry Waffle Sandwich, which was a lot bigger than anticipated. It was also quite good. I had their Iced Chocolate Mocha, which was also good. We couldn't leave without a free scoop of ice cream. We both ended up getting Blueberry and it was very good. This location was a lot bigger than the storefront suggested. It was deep and spacious, with high ceilings. It was also quite colourful. Very nice!

I went there on two different days to try two different items from their menu and here's my honest feedback: On the first day, we had their Oreo freak shake - it came in a glass bottle packed with Oreo milkshake, oreo biscuit pieces on the bottle, one part waffle - followed by vanilla ice cream and then the second part of the waffle drizzled with chocolate sauce. I'll admit, the presentation wasn't as fancy as it looks online. The taste was good (very basic, but good), so I wasn't disappointed. The next day, I ordered their cheesecake experience - it comes with their original flavor cheesecake factory cheesecake, along with a side of ice cream and one topping. I was told there will be an extra $2 charge if you want the cone that's shown in their pictures in the store and online. I am a fan of the theory that looks good and tastes good so I went all in and added the cone! My total came to $20 which IMO was a lot for what little was offered. I chose the biscoff crumb as a topping, malai ice cream, and Belgian chocolate sauce drizzled on top along with white chocolate. Honestly, the amount of biscoff crumbs they added was a joke. We felt like the cheesecake was way more sour than it should have been and decided to let the staff know to which we were told that the cheesecakes are supposed to stay good for 6 months (that could be true, but I believe the cheesecake slice we received was part of a bigger cake that had been thawed at least a few days back so it was starting to get sour), the staff was hesitant but accommodating so she replaced our cheesecake with a different one that we chose. We went for the Oreo cheesecake (not pictured), and I thought it was quite good. However, the cone added to the dish was also left open for a while I'm guessing so it had a weird taste. The malai ice cream was amazing though. I might not go back to this same location again and would be cautious even if I did.

So many different types of milkshakes, though there were a bunch that looked like they'd be better for IG pictures than taste. I really liked the Ferrero Rocher shake, it was exactly what I was craving, and my friends loved the Kinder Bueno Shake. It is really sweet and heavy, so not something you can always have. Though they have other drinks too so you can get some lighter. If you're a fan of milkshakes, this is the place for you. Atmosphere - 4/5 Has a cute modern ice cream parlour vibe. Has a bunch of seats but not the best for big groups. Service - 5/5 They were really helpful when I was indecisive on which shake to get. They're very courteous and enhanced the experience. Will I go again? If I have a sweet tooth craving and didn't have a big meal, yes. There are a bunch of other flavours I'd want to try. I was very impressed that all the treats are preservative and GMO free. I had the Mocha Brownie which is topped with coffee- flavored frosting & crushed Pecans. The brownies were moist and the icing wasn't too sweet. These were my absolute favorite & for $15 you get 24 brownies that are delicious. I also tried a few of the cookies, I'm not a big cookie person but I actually liked them. The Snickerdoodle Cookie is a cinnamon sugar cookie dunked in milk chocolate and topped with white chocolate chips, again not overly sweet & you can taste the quality in the ingredients. Finally the Nuttelin' Cookie, stuffed with Skor toffee bits and a Nutella centre. It was really good when I warmed it up. I would definitely recommend Sweets by Souza. You can order online and there's a $5 delivery fee! That's insane! The website is also very user friendly, and you can see exactly what each item looks like and how much it is.
