This was a chance spot that we happened by on our way to another ristorante. Very engaging service from both Christian (very funny person) and Fabio, who attended to our every whim. Very quaint and quiet location and one of the few that focus on carne almost entirely. The Fiorentina is outstanding and perfectly prepared. The carpaccio needed a little more sauce or spice but was still excellent. Spinach sautéed in butter was a nice touch. What a wonderful dining experience we had at this fine restaurant on our last night in Venice. We walked by it the day before and saw the aged meats in the clear showcase cooler. We asked for reservations for the next night. There was no specific dress code, meaning my husband could wear his favorite attire - dress shorts and polo shirt. Our server was so great, and he works there with his wife, who made sure we were welcomed in and made us feel very appreciated for dining with them. We had a perfect bottle of cab wine, "Igino", grilled octopus and a Pad Thai shrimp appetizer. My husband had a T-Bone which they cut up beautifully. I had a petite filet. Both cooked perfectly medium rare. We also enjoyed two charred corn on the cobs. We indulged in desserts. Strawberry cheesecake and the special cake of the day which I couldn't understand the name of but both were delicious. I was so happy to see Al Grill on Yelp so I could review it. Everything was amazing. We didn't have reservations however sever was kind enough to let us know to have a table for an hour. We were hungry and were happy to dine in some meat. One of my favorite restaurants in all of Europe! Yes it's steak, but it's magical. I made early evening reservations for dinner because all the "normal" mealtimes were taken. Such a popular spot. Arrived at 5:45pm and got seated at one of the high tables in front. Great way to interact with all the staff members and see a little behind the scenes. I ordered the steak special of the day (with spinach) because I told the waiter just to pick something for me. While waiting for the meat to cook, I had to exercise self-control to resist eating all the delicious bread in front of me. Also downed a few glasses of chianti. Best steakhouse I have ever been to. I was a bit disappointed with all the restaurants in Venice, I felt as the food tasted cheap, and just basic. My husband found this spot and everything was amazing, the service was great! Very friendly and informative staff, they were happy to help and answer any questions. I need to stick to pasta when in Italy. This place wasn't bad, but it is not their specialty in Italy to cook incredible steaks like what I'm used to. The sides were average as well. The food was great and the atmosphere charming. Unfortunately the waiter was a bit unscrupulous. My wife and I each ordered a filetto, afterwhich my daughter ordered the Tomahawk, which was recommended as one of the best cuts of meat by the hostess, and my daughter does like steak.  We saw that the Tomahawk was sold by weight, and had we done the conversion properly It would have been obvious to us that this was meant to be shared between two and three people (see photo).  And while this was definitely our mistake, the waiter clearly knew we were over ordering as my wife and I had ordered first, and my daughter, who  is very petite, ordered last.  When the food was served at least 4 different staff members who we had never seen before came by to make comical remarks about how much food my daughter had ordered and if she needed help with her meal.  The remarks were all in good spirit, and we had a good time, but a waiter with more scruples would have made an effort to let us know of our blunder, rather than run back to tell the staff of our obvious mistake. I would still recommend this restaurant but would advise you to more careful than we were, and to not expect help from the staff. The wife & I had been traveling around Italy for the last 2 weeks eating mostly pizza, pasta & sandwiches. We arrived in Venice, checked into our place & ventured out for dinner. We strolled around the corner and the aroma of grilled meat filled our nostrils. At that moment we knew we needed steak. We had stumbled upon Al Grill - a small place with a chill vibe & fun staff. And on all counts, Al Grill delivered the goods. A 1kg Tomahawk for €65? Sign me up. Perfectly cooked & seasoned, with some creamy roasted potatoes on the side. We added an extra side of frites which were damn good, too. We'll be back tomorrow to try the T-Bone. If you're in Venice and you crave steak, go here...and make a reservation. Speaking for myself: ordering a steak at a restaurant is definitely a once in a year type thing, if that. I treat it more as a luxury and doing this makes eating it a special occasion. Their menu is centered around meat, meat, and more meat so if you're a vegetarian/vegan this probably isn't the restaurant you want to go to. This spot is known for their quality of meat which is bought directly from the source and I'm here to tell you that it's amazing! We ordered the Ribeye, Lamb Skewers, and Corn on the Cob. The ribeye was ordered to be cooked medium rare and it came out perfect! I've had my fair share of over-cooked steak and the chefs at this restaurant know exactly how to grill their steak. The steak had a crusty, crunchy, well-browned exterior surrounding a core of perfectly pink, juicy, tender meat that spans from edge to edge. Each bite of steak was even more flavorful than the last! The Lamb Skewers were also deliciously grilled to perfection and each bite was succulent, juicy, and loaded with flavor! Grilled corn pairs so well with grilled meats which is why we ordered it as our side and it tasted great. The kernels were moist, flavorful yet had that delicious slight smokiness to it.
