We had a party of 9 attend dinner here last week and, despite the lovely waiter and food that was not bad, were treated quite inhospitably by the manager. Granted, it can be difficult to deal with a large party, but it seemed like the manager did everything he could to make it uncomfortable.
First of all, we were seated along a very narrow long table in the very back, where the door to the toilets is. The doors opens against the last couple of chairs of our table. When we asked if we could be moved further towards the front (there were plenty of empty tables), the manager refused saying that it was "too late" (meaning we asked after we sat down for 10 minutes) and that the empty table we were looking at was about to be occupied (that party did not show up for another 45 minutes).
Secondly, as a larger party, we were offered two fixed menus to choose from. Much like restaurants offering prix fixe, they did not allow us to choose half of one menu and half of the second menu. In this age, when you often have a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian in your party, it's odd to me that one must choose been a meat-heavy prix fixe and a veg-heavy one. It's tapas, people - how hard is it to accommodate that split?
Thirdly, about two hours into our meal, we were asked by the waiter (this poor guy was clearly getting hassled by his manager, who stood in the background like some gloomy tyrant) to hurry up as they had another group coming in in 15 minutes. He came back two more times to get us to leave.
Now, as someone whose family has owned restaurants, and as someone who frequents them all over the world, this was probably the rudest establishment I've ever been in. It really surprised me, actually. This only applies to the manager, and not to the waiters who were doing their best to be nice to us.
I recommend you avoid this place altogether. read more
