Do not use this company. In a time where every office has long since moved to paperless, Acumen is still delivering reports via dial up modem run fax machines. Not only is this not secure with patient info but if a paperless office tries to get an encrypted email copy they flat out refuse delaying patient care. My husband had an MRI done on 11/27/23. Even though his deductible was met on insurance they still required us to pay $234.20 before the MRI was conducted. I tried disputing the payment with the receptionist even pulling up my insurance app showing nothing was due at the time of service again based on my deductible being met. I have called requesting a refund and still have not received a refund as to this date. I have warned the doctor's office that referred us to this facility. Be careful in doing business with them as it appears they don't understand insurance filings and co-pays. read more

Not the friendliest of people in the world. Receptionist openly talking about patients and upset that patients would not change their appointment to an earlier time the same day. The tech that performed my CT scan, was not particularly helpful and seemed put off by my presence. Overall not a great experience. I've been here before when there was a different staff and they were much more friendly than the staff today. I guess the best thing about this place is that it's close to home. Doc ordered an MRI for my injured hip 18 days ago, never got a call from these mopes to schedule so I called my Doc back, they took care of the issue and I got an appt for 2 weeks later. Before I went today I called at 845 am to verify they were open (weather has been bad) yes! We are open, yes your appt is at 245 today, please arrive at 230 for paperwork. I verified my deductible and insurance provider with the mope on the phone. Arrived 230 announced myself and girl at desk says...oh I called you to say BCBS denied the MRI...What? When did you call? Earlier, pull out my phone, looked for missed calls from there number..no call, no message so they are either inept (Likely) or stupid (probable) Yet another reason not to do business with anyone in Rowlett, the gene pool is shallow. read more

I had an MRI scheduled for 11am, but we are supposed to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. Unfortunately due to weather, I arrived right at 11. Even then, I was called in just after turning in my forms. The only thing I would recommend, is that you provide your patients with better pillows for our legs. Only because, while getting my images of my lower back. My legs kept sliding off the pillow. I was there because I have some lower back problems, that cause my nerves not to function properly. This would cut down on the amount of times that you would have to regenerate my images. Other than this, everyone I met, was nice & helpful. read more

If it were possible, I would give them zero stars. I will never return here again. Everyone from the lady at the front desk to the technician I had, needs training in customer service. Theirs is lacking greatly and I was uncomfortable during my ultrasound due to the attitude of the technician. This on top of the fact that when I went to check out, the lady at the front informed me that I would owe them $250 as my co-pay. I asked her why I had not been informed about this beforehand and she made some lame excuse about how I should have been informed but wasn't. At this point, it was too late for me to decline having the service so I had to pay it. read more

I have had two tests here; one a MRI of my head and the other a CT of my abdomen. The scheduling is outstanding and the technicians are really nice, but each time the physicians that needed the testing disagreed with the Radiologist's readings and ordered more testing. I do not know if the same Radiologist read both of them or not, but this is of some concern for me. I am still also trying to work out a billing issue with them and our insurance, but our insurance had just made changes to our policy, so the billing may be accurate, although I do not believe it to be. I don't know how comfortable you are with physicians that misread these important tests, but I know I will ask for mine and my family's testing to be done somewhere else the next time we have to be referred out. *Note: I do not know why it says closed in BOLD letters, but I just called this place, and they are still open and scheduling appointments. read more

By far the worst place ever with inexperienced technician "Marshall". Why would a specialist who knows all info about my mother send her for an MRI if she could not do it because she has a loop recorder?!!! It is not a pace maker!! I went yesterday to get my first CT Scan. Needless to say, I was very nervous and had anxiety. The nurse who accessed my IV for the contrast was so sweet to me and made me feel comfortable. I told her how anxious I was and she talked me through the whole thing. The front desk staff was great too. Very informative, patient and kind. read more

I would recommend you never enter this medical office. The medical staff does not use clean, sterile, no-touch or aseptic technique, consequently endangering the health of the patient. The following is my experience. I went in for a contrast CT which had to be administered IV. When I sat in the chair for the technician to insert the IV catheter, I pointed out blood on the chair from a prior patient. He wiped it up with a wet baby wipe, not with a form of sterilizing agent. It took two technicians to find a vein. The second technician refused to use gloves, even when I asked him to. He response was, 'why?' He had not washed his hands before attempting the IV catheter insertion. Once the catheter was inserted, something must have been done incorrectly, because I started squirting blood out of the open end of the catheter. This was partially cleaned up with a dried cloth. No sterilizing agent was used. The rest was left on me and other surfaces. At this point, the second technician had put on gloves, that were now covered with my blood. I watched as he touched multiple surfaces with those bloody gloves. I had to remind the two technicians to remove the tourniquet, as they both had forgotten. Once in the CT room, when they attached the syringe filled with contrast to my IV catheter, they must have done something wrong, because it started quickly leaking bloody solution all over me and CT bed. The first tech cleaned up my right arm with a wet cloth. No sterilizing agent was used. When I sat up, the right side of the bed and the pillows were covered in the bloody solution. I believe the blanket was also contaminated. Although, I cannot be sure, as I was fixated on the bedding and pillows. As soon I exited the CT room and entered the dressing room (which shares a wall with the CT room) to change back into my clothes, I immediately heard another patient in the CT room beginning a procedure. There was no time to have sterilized the CT room or bed before this next procedure. Based on my experience, I am concerned for my own health and the health of all patients who enter this facility. Even if future patients do not suffer the mishaps I did, it is clear the technical staff does not use clean, sterile, no-touch or aseptic technique. They do not even remove their gloves correctly, or know to ensure they do not touch extraneous objects while gloved. The first technician even joked that "don't I (sic) know men are messier than women". Sterile, clean, no-touch and aseptic techniques exist to protect against the unnecessary spread of potentially very dangerous biologics. The two technical staff that I dealt with did not follow any clean, sterile, no-touch or aseptic technique. Based on my experience at this facility, I would recommend that no one ever use this facility and that it and its technical staff undergo immediate inspection and retraining by all relevant regulatory and supervisory divisions. read more

8/10/18 returned to get ultrasound and MRI and was really impressed with the woman who did my ultrasound and to Marshall who did my MRI. The MRI room is painted like a garden and it is gorgeous. He puts headphones on you and you can listen to classical music to town to try and drowned out the awful sounds of the MRI and help you relax. The only thing that I really don't like about going here is sitting in the lobby and that TV is blaring. It's really annoying. So I recommend if that kind of thing bothers you as well definitely bring earbuds to listen to your own music to drowned out that TV or bring earplugs because they won't turn it off and they only turn it down even when nobody's watching it. I'm really impressed with the people that work in the back. And I got my MRI CD immediately which was a pleasant surprise and I think I'm going to get my ultrasound results next week which will be great. Thanks again read more

I was treated well and Hannah even called me to alert me to a cancellation that was available for me to push my appointment up. I arrived on time and was given forms to fill out. Everyone here was so helpful the minute we walked in. We were greeted by Robert and how helpful he was. Along with Crista who helped me try to find out some info about my Dad before the MRI. I mean they could of gone so many other directions with my situation. They could of just refused me and told me to reschedule and find out the info myself. But they helped me go way and beyond and tried to reach out to the hospital and the drs office for me and with me. I just really appreciate their efforts. And Chris his technologist who was patient with my father and so helpful with my 76 year old Dad. I wasn't able to go in there since I had my son. All of their attitudes and smiles went a long way with me. They also gave us the cd of his MRI promptly. Place was clean and waiting area was very clean and comfy couch. I was referred to Preferred Imaging by my family physician. I received a phone call from Preferred Imaging to set an appointment day & time. I answered a few questions during the phone call. One of the questions their representative asked me was: "Did I have any metal implants?" To which I answered: "yes is do" I explained what my two implants were. Before the call was over, an appointment was scheduled. I arrived slightly early for my 2:30/2:45pm appointment on Sunday April 28th. I filled out the customary new patient forms. The forms contained one of the same questions I was asked on the phone regarding metal implants. A short time later I was informed Preferred Imaging needed to request information regarding my implants before any testing could take place. I stated to the person at the front desk how I recommend Preferred Imaging should tell their appointment schedulers to discuss the need for additional information regarding metal implants at the time of the phone call whenever a patient answers "yes" to metal implants during the initial confirmation/scheduling phone call. I understand mistakes do happen from time to time and try to always be forgiving and graceful about it. Although I do prefer that the place of business own up to a mistake and perhaps say something like: "I'm sorry" or "I apologize" Unfortunately my experience was not like that. Not only was no form of apology offered whatsoever, the person at the front desk all but accused me of being a liar. When I stated for the 2nd time how I recommend Preferred Imaging should tell their appointment schedulers to discuss their need for additional information regarding metal implants at the time of the phone call whenever a patient answers "yes" to metal implants, her response was: "well I don't know if she knew about it" I'm not certain how a representative "could not know about it" since it was the representative that asked the question that I had to answer yes to. I normally don't take the time to write letters of this nature, but I was so inclined today. I plan to post an online review on every social media platform I can find. I plan to call my doctor's office tomorrow and tell him of my experience and tell him to find me another provider for my test. read more

Not recommended at all. The person who performed the MRI on my shoulder was very rude. I had a torn rotator cuff and it was extremely painful. He told me not to move which I didn't but the pain was so unbearable I did shake once. No help getting into the scanner or out. Really? I was overcharged for my procedure in November 2020. I am still waiting to get my money back. I have called three time sand email them three times. They keep pretending the billing department is in a meeting or on the phone etc. Then I get told they are behind on refunds and it will take 4 weeks. Again...4 weeks since November, December or January when I first got notified from my health insurance company that I should have received a credit. They don't deny they owe the credit they just choose not issue it in a timely manner. Please..please consider another imaging center for your tests. They must be having money issues if they can't refund overpayments. They definitely have deceptive practices at this organization. read more

Not as if scheduling a MRI is the greatest thing to do in your life....but dealing with Hannah was worse. She was extremely argumentative with me to the point she was talking over me and being short with me while I was trying to give her my insurance information. When I tried to clarify which ID number she needed, she became even more rude. I then asked to speak to someone else because it was clear she had an issue with me and she told me that I had an issue with her. I told her I have never dealt with anyone so rude in my life when I'm only trying to schedule an appointment. I then told her to cancel the appointment that I would call my doctor and have him refer me to someone else. She then hung up on me. I immediately called the orthopedic doctor group and told them my experience and was told they were considering removing them from their referral list because of past complaints. read more

At 7:15 PM I asked the receptionist when I would be seen and was told that the machine would not be available until 7:30. So if you like to waste your time and be ignored then come here. My pain management Dr referred me to Perferred imaging for a lower back MRI due to severe pain shooting down my legs. I have been waiting on insurance approval for over a month and after an appeal Preferred imaging finally calls last week and said we got the approval for your MRI. I asked so, the insurance company is going to cover it? The receptionist replied yes. I said ok let's schedule it after my vacation in a week. Today was that day at 2:30. I walked in, checked in and finally called me back at 3:00. I finish the MRI at 3:30 and ask tech for my disk he says i wish you would have told me that earlier but I'll get it for you. I apologised letting him know i wasn't made aware I needed to ask for one. I go up front to wait and the receptionist finally calls me up for what I thought was to hand me the disc but she tells me it's $528 for today! 3 weeks ago They gave me the option to pay for the MRI out of pocket which was $500 and if they got insurance approval I would get the money back I declined didn't really want to lose $500 just in case. So today when she told me $528 you can imagine I lost my cool! I asked her if insurance is covering it why is it so much? She replied with well your deductible hasn't been met. I said then why would you tell me insurance was covering it? They approved it she responds. I declined paying $500 outta pocket once what makes you think I would do it now? You should've told me before i had the MRI! She responded with well we called you yesterday to confirm. I lost my cool again! I told her yes you did leave me a message confirming my appointment but never once mentioned the price or even requested a return call to discuss payment! Or how about when i checked in this afternoon before the MRI? Most people don't walk around with $500 in their pocket to spend but you're lucky I do as I threw my credit card across the desk. I have never had such horrible customer service! I gave them ample opportunity to provide me with the information necessary for a successful visit! 3 times they had a chance to provide information they withheld till services were already rendered! I think this company should have to eat this fee especially since i had already declined paying $500 out of pocket once! Horrible visit, horrible customer service! I was referred here by Texas Back Institute, which is also a poorly run business, so I am not surprised that my experience here was terrible. First of all, why do you have patients fill out 4 pages of paperwork and then the technician doesn't bother to read any of it and asks you the same questions all over again? And instead of taking me into a private exam room to ask about my medical history and the reason for my MRI, he stopped me in the hallway to ask these questions which is a MAJOR lack of privacy and I am positive against HIPPA regulations. Next, because the pants I was wearing had metal on the waist band, I had to put on a hospital gown that opened in the back. Why on earth do you have female patients walk from the closet you put them in to change to the MRI room in a hospital gown that opens in the back while other patients and technicians walk around!!!! Beyond insulting! And last, but certainly not least....my experience with the actual MRI. The technician was so lacking in bedside manner that he didn't even explain to me the process, what all the loud and crazy sounds were, what I would hear or see while in the MRI, etc. He basically told me to lay down and asked me what radio station I wanted to listen to. He was so awful and inexperienced in how to handle patients. I had NO idea what to expect, so when he started the MRI and all these loud noises started coming from the machine, I had no idea what was going on and if that was normal or not. Plus, he never bothered to ask me if the volume on my headphones was ok. He put them on my head and told me not to move, so I didn't, he put me in the MRI machine and then music starts blasting in my ears. I had to press the call button to ask him to turn them down and we had to start the MRI all over. I agree with the other reviewers here in how horrible this place is. I don't know how they are still in business. I am kicking myself for relying on the doctor's referral and not checking Yelp or Google reviews first. read more

Place is dirty (dust under the tv), fingerprints on the door. Floor was dirty. Coffee table had dust and drink prints on it. If they can't keep the front area clean, I don't know what they do behind doors and I.V.s are given for contrast.. (HMMMM) The tech was very rude for someone that has chronic debilating diseases. I raised my hand several times asking for help and come to find out my spouse said he was talking to the girls in the front office. Have been there now three times. First time was for an MRI on a rotator cuff tear. The image was so poor that the doctor had trouble reading it. Second time was for a tumor on my arm and the techs were so inexperienced that first they could not get the arm imaged properly, the were unable to get the IV in for the contrast so I had to back the next day when another tech was there. I would call that less than competent. Also some, but not all, of the reception stall have seriously poor customer service skills. They do work well with your insurance and all but I would recommend going elsewhere. read more
