I never got to eat at this restaurant and I never will sue to the hostess tonight on 1/2/22. I decided I wanted to dine at a small business and so we went to Akina. The hostess told us it would be 15-20 min wait. No problem. She took my number and name. 25 min passed, no table, no feedback, nothing. So I asked if there was an ETA on our table. She said it would be another 15-20 min. I responded stating I was told 15-20 min, 25 min ago. Instead of apologizing or sounding at least helpful, she coldly stated "well it's been extended." When was I going to be told the wait time is DOUBLED? Was I supposed to wait 40 min and hope for the best? I understand we are all short staffed due to the pandemic, but this isn't the only industry that is short staffed. Either give a realistic wait time, don't continue taking customers if you can't accommodate them, and for heavens' sake act professionally when dealing with customers. This hostess needs some retraining. I will never be back here. Ever read more

We went here a few years ago with coworkers then again a couple of years later with crew/rowing friends for a night out. Now we have rediscovered it again after looking for a sushi chef. Every time we go it's been incredible. We didn't live too close so that's why we didn't frequent more. Now we live a little closer and I won't forget how good the food is this time. I know we got sushi the first time, don't remember the second but I do remember the food was super good! Recently we have ordered sushi again, fried rice and beef broccoli. I've also had the Bok choy which was amazing if you're vegetarian or not! I highly recommend Akina if you are looking for some good Asian dishes. We always look forward to going back. read more

This is a very upscale restaurant for a strip mall type location. Great decor, and an extensive pan-Asian menu including Sushi, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and even Indian cuisines. We started with an order of Roti with curry sauce, because what other sushi restaurant has that?! It was excellent, with perfectly fresh roti. The sauce was so good I saved it to put on my rice. I had the lunch sashimi bento box, which included seven nice pieces of fish, seaweed salad and lettuce salad, rice, and a very large bowl of miso soup. The miso was a bit sweeter than normal, but everything else was great. We also had two rolls and some ikura sashimi. All were good. Went in on a Sunday and the vibe inside was very good. It was busier than I expected so that was a plus and a good sign! Just personally don't like the set up of tables in the restaurant but hey, to each their own! I ordered their shrimp tempura sushi and my fiancé ordered the pad thai(minus peanuts) and the portion was very well! He barely could finish the pad Thai and he kept saying how the pad Thai here was one of the best! I was real tempted to give them 5 stars. This rating is fairly situational, I did not expect to get even decent sushi in such a random place. So when I found strong sushi game in Clermont, I must admit I was surprised. They have good sushi, and an interesting variety of both Japanese and general Asian dishes. If you are looking for a little adventure Akina would be a great place to go outside your comfort zone. I was expecting much more based on other reviewers. However, we experienced "just ok" sushi and ended up with a lousy waitress. Would've been a 3, if not for the waitress... Overall Rating: 2 - Meh. I've definitely experienced better. The place needs updating and the table we had felt sticky.. not sure how old the place is but it had several chips in the wall against our table and I noticed the carpet was dirty and the seams were coming apart in a major area of the room. It is unfortunate that it is so small but I think a little more thought to the decor should have been considered. Basically, it reminded me of a food court inside, very noisy and crowded, although much of the noise came from a large group seated near the sushi bar.. A few strategically placed plants could even help divide the place up a little. My husband commented that the bathroom was in need of a scrubbing. One good note from him on the bathroom was that they had hot water and soap. Now.. back to the waitress... she didn't have answers to a couple of my questions regarding the sushi menu, nor did she seem interested in finding me the answers by asking someone else. In addition, when she brought out the sushi, she failed to give us chopsticks. My husband had to go and get them himself. She also forgot our napkins and we had to ask another staff member walking by. I had just put the last bite of sushi in my mouth and was still chewing when she came to take my plate. I prefer to finish eating what I have in my mouth before giving up my plate. Off it went before I knew it... On to the food... the rainbow roll was just ok. It had a tempura shrimp center. My husband ordered the albacore scallion roll and the salmon rolls with scallions added. They were so tiny but he said they were good. Our spicy scallop roll was lacking in flavor and presentation. Overall, I was just not impressed with the sushi. A nice touch which we get in many Japanese restaurants that we go to, are hot towels to wipe your hands clean before eating. They might want to consider this during the dinner hours. Playing some Japanese instrumental music would be good too for the ambiance. A few people nearby ordered hot items from the menu... crispy, sizzling chicken dishes... Not sure what they ordered but it all smelled and looked great. Clearly, we ordered the wrong stuff. IF we ever go back, which we might, we will definitely try the hot menu items and I hope to give a better rating for this place. read more

My friend and I thought we would try this place out for the first time. I had the revolution sushi roll, that was delicious, very good. However, the Magnolia beef entree wasn't the best. I had more vegetables than meat and rice. It was really greasy and not at all enjoyable. I ordered it spicy and it was not even mild lol The customer service was good, the gentlemen who attended us was very helpful and nice. The environment was clean and spacious, It had like a romantic upscale setting to me. But you can still go in there casual. Prices: the prices were decent, nothing outrageous. Food quality and serving size is still great. Prices have gone up about 15% and some of the non-food quality items have gone down. This is my first time here and I am very very satisfied with not only the service but quality of the food and the selection as well. The tuna the salmon were big pieces and were very tasty, as well as a Seattle roll which had a spicy introduction with great flavor at the end. I wish I had someone else to come with me so we could have tried other things but I can only eat so much. LOL. But my recommendation is I will come back here again. Basically the only place I go to for sushi since every other place really doesn't stack up. They have a huge menu with all different types of rolls and the sushi chefs are pretty flexible. So they can make anything from a fancy roll to a simple hand roll. A hand roll with yellowtail is my fave. The temptation roll and hulk roll are awesome. This place makes decent sized rolls so you can get away with getting two and maybe an app. Recently been trying out the kitchen menu and definitely not disappointed. I know this sounds basic but the General Tso's chicken is a must try. Same with the eggplant shrimp. Probably the best calamari that I've ever had. I wouldn't get it to go though, best to eat it there since you can lose the crispness. This place can get pretty busy on the weekend so the earlier, the better. read more

Definitely the best server we've had at Akina :) We've eaten here before but not since the pandemic; we were pleasantly surprised at how busy they were on a Wednesday night but we couldn't tell by how fast our sushi and appetizers came out. Just returned from our first visit to Akiira on US27, just south of Legends in Clermont. What a great selection of Asian treats! The food was plentiful, delicious, quickly served, and fresh. The service was excellent. Our server allowed substitutions (I wanted the side salad with ginger dressing as opposed to the seaweed and octopus salad). I had a Bento box for lunch and the portions were very generous along with being very tasty with a good variety of sushi. The potstickers were hot and delicious as an appetizer. There were no issues in using the coupon that I had. Drink refills were fast and the server was helpful as well as friendly and efficient. The decor was typical Asian restaurant themed, pleasant, and the place was clean. I am ready to make this my local Asian food stop. read more

Surprising find in Clermont. Mid size restaurant and at 5pm on a Saturday PACKED. The hot and sour soup came out steaming perfect temperature with a smooth taste that did not contain the overpowering fake hot seasoning- well balanced! Sushi was a bit of a stiff investment but when it is good, gotta do it. The tofu with mushrooms had a well balanced soy based sauce. What I found most interesting was the details that matter. The best quality thick paper napkins and the weight of the soup spoon spoke volumes to care of the business. read more
