The "fried rice" was just white rice with soy sauce and oil, no flavor or veggies. There were like 5 pieces of chicken. Lots of veggies which I loved but could've used more protein. We stopped by the Hibachi Express after it received great reviews from a friend. It's in the Publix plaza, near Chase, off of hwy 27. It's looks more so like a take-out only location; however, the inside provides the option to dine without it feeling too 'fast-food like.' They have lunch specials, ranging from $8-10. I ordered the hibachi chicken lunch special. They ask if you'd like many different, extra sauces; but, they fail to mention that you will be charged. The food was good. It tastes like any other hibachi restaurant or location. Nothing stood out; average meal, but the veggies were very fresh. I will attend this restaurant again and recommend to anyone. Mhmm! I would have never thought I would see myself coming here for lunch. I was craving a quick hibachi place and this was the one with the most reviews on Yelp. I placed a take-out order because I've read it does get busy around lunch time. I arrive and man, this place is packed! However, they know how to keep the line going and people are not waiting an excruciating amount of time for their order to be completed. I ordered the teriyaki steak hibachi that came with fried rice, steamed veggies and yum-yum sauce. The food was hot, delicious and the portions are massive for a lunch special! I don't give out 1 star reviews EVER. Decided to give this place a second chance (steak was raw the first time). Here we are again, ordered medium steak and it's raw. Not only that but there was metal in my rice from the steel wool they use to clean the grill. Almost ate it. Don't know how this place gets the ratings it does. So, let's talk about pregnancy cravings for a minute ... because they are very real and cause extreme "hangry-ness" when untreated. Seriously though, I've been craving Hibachi for about a week, and given that this past weekend was a holiday weekend, it was harder to find places that were open and also offered curbside pickup / pay online or over phone. We called Hibachi Express, and thankfully they were open on Monday, AND they did offer online ordering. That's a big bonus for us right now because I'm 8 months pregnant and playing it extra safe until baby is born. So contactless delivery is still the best option for us. And while they don't advertise it, they kindly met us at the car and dropped everything off so we didn't have to go inside, mask and all. Also, we ordered a feast for the family ... and they were QUICK! We got everything within 25 minutes of ordering, and the quality was GOOD! Everything was hot and delicious and the order was perfect - no errors or missing items. Needless to say, mama and baby were happy. Kudos to Hibachi Express for going above and beyond to deliver great service and make my day! We will definitely be ordering from them again ... soon. And I cannot wait to try their sushi! The three of us decided on the steak hibachi. It was delicious. The steak was seasoned nicely and went great with the fresh vegetables. The food here was good! My hibachi shrimp was flavorful and wasn't too chewy. My rating is low because the amount of plastic waste this place produces is incredibly alarming. I tend to dine-in to reduce plastic waste, but the dine-in salads all came in plastic boxes with plastic ramekins for the dressing and every entree came in several more pieces of plastic. So long as they continue this practice, I will not be returning to dine here. It just breaks my heart to see that much unnecessary waste.
