Not only is Bob a piece of ---- He doesn't tell you right out that you have to pay for a wig that he suggested AND HAD TO SEND FOR and you have never seen or tried it on. He will NOT give you your money back. No matter how much you have tried. The wig he sent for looked like a rug they stuck on my head, it was so awful. NO MONEY BACK!!! I DID NOT KNOW THAT. I was so vulnerable. I was so upset about losing my hair. He took advantage of me. And of course he wants you to know how he has been going through Kemo for many years, PLEASE feel sorry for him. Let me start off by saying i am an experienced tanner and tan well. I don't think this place have changed the bulbs in a very long time. I did one package and got no color at all after repeated visits. I went to Supertan after leaving there and had awesome dark color after 2 visits. Don't waste your money here. The owners are kinda strange too. Adding on to this... In response to so called 'reviewer' Joe S....obviously you did not read my review correctly. I did not go 'a couple of times' I finished a full package. Also, you know absolutely nothing about me, my tanning history or my skin type whatsoever to make any judgements. Your defensive and somewhat angry rambling comments, along with your unnecessary insult of Supertan coincidently shows up right around the same time as the owners response to me AND you opened your Yelp account at that time as well so this seriously makes one wonder about your legitimacy. I wanted to to thank the owner of AJ wigs for taking the time to rectify my recent situation. Since I did not call the insurance company I did not think that my wig would be paid for. With time and effort the insurance company did actually pay for the wig. I would like to commend AJ for his efforts he was clear that he would pay for the wig if I wasn't paid for by insurance. I was nervous and afraid because the wig was 350 dollars and with multiple bills coming in due to the cancer it can be a scary time. I went in today to have my wig cut. He did a beautiful job. It is now lighter and cooler. It frames my face. I learned so much in the process of him cutting it. I learned about how to manage the wig. I've never been one to rant or vent publicly but I just need to get this out there. Right after I started chemotherapy I ordered a wig from AJs Wigs in Hooksett. The plan was for them to perm it and color it to look exactly like my natural hair because I was so anxious about losing it (of course). They offered me an awesome deal so I was super excited about it. I promoted their business when people would ask but in reality I was having to buy my wigs from AMAZON because the wig I purchased from AJs failed to come in. I made the purchase September 25,2018. I was promised the wig in 4 weeks. 8 weeks pass, that's totally fine. 12 weeks, eh kind of sucks but that's okay. Well here we are, January 18th! Still No wig! I am now cancer free! and no longer need this wig since my hair is already coming back. I walked in to see if I could get a refund. Bob, the owner, was on the phone. He then proceeded to keep avoiding me and slipped a note to his employee to tell me to come back another time. When he finally called me to discuss this issue he was extremely unprofessional. He threw every employee under the bus, blaming everything on his employees. He said he thought I had my wig and he assumed his employees had taken care of it. Bob, you are a business owner. It's your responsibility to check on your employees to make sure they are doing their job and that your customers are receiving the services they are paying for. BUT I think he forgot that his 2 employees were my best friends from hair school. Before they ordered my wig he had one permed; a cheaper and poorly permed one that I didn't want. His employees told me he colored the cheap wig (which I already said I didn't want) and told them to give it to me instead of giving me the wig that I wanted and paid for. So, after I had gone in he scrambled to get the original wig ready for me. During our phone call when I asked to just get my money back he told me, "well I'm just confused... you say you don't need the wig, but yet you're bald." This was comment number one that elevated my blood pressure haha. I already have wigs to cover my bald head, no thanks to you. I do not need you to throw insecurities at me in an attempt to keep my money. Next comment, "The money was a donation from your work to get this wig, so you would just be pocketing that money." YEAH that was a donation from my work to help me during a difficult time. They knew I was very anxious about losing my hair and wanted to make sure I had a quality wig. Again, you failed at that. If I want to pocket that money I'm going to pocket that money. For things like FOOD. BILLS. GAS???? The manipulation was outrageous. After very obviously getting upset and angry is when he started saying he would sell the wig under my name as a solution. He acted like he was offering that the whole time but in reality he was just giving me non-stop excuses and no solution. I sure hope none of you ever need to wear wigs. But for those of you who have reached out looking for places to get some, or know people going through a similar situation, go anywhere but here, AJs Wigs in Hooksett. Bob has screwed over multiple people and I'm just one of many other cancer patients being taken advantage of during an extremely difficult time. On the Facebook post one of the owners, John continued to unprofessionally bash me and tell me when I walked in my wig looked terrible on me. I Had been wearing hair pieces for many years as I suffer from female alopecia (a medical condition) hair pieces were not the best solution for me. About 6 years ago I went into AJ Wigs met with Bob the wig master he fitted me with many styles of wigs until I found the perfect one for which is not an easy task as I am particular about my hair. Bob shows patients, compassion and understands hair loss for women is a very sensitive subject. 6 years later I continue to do business at AJ Wigs with Bob & Jon and each and every time I walk in to that Salon I feel like I'm with family, I am still particular about my hair and get the best quality natural looking beautiful wigs from AJ Wigs. I get compliments all the time how great my hair looks as it looks so natural. I never leave there disappointed or unhappy, my alopecia is a life time medical condition so I'd say they have me for life and will continue to bring my business to Bob and would highly recommend AJ Wigs to anyone who may need to wear a wig short term or long term. This isn't a tanning salon, which is great because I didn't go there to tan. I went to take my mother to get a wig. I have to say, that everyone who works there is absolutely WONDERFUL!! my mother had lost all her hair and was very depressed. We couldn't find a wig that fit, and the other places we visited in CT/MA weren't very helpful that we visited. The staff at AJ's Wigs were incredibly friendly and experienced and helpful. They knew what kind of wig she was looking for and worked with us to get the perfect wig. They had a sale going on also, which was great and we saved allot. I never write reviews, but I really feel the need to after my experience will Aj's. My entire life I have battled with a hair pulling disorder called Trichotillomania. I would never talk about it or even say the word before. I hated going out in public. I was always afraid someone would notice. I avoided going out in public as much as I could. I had no self esteem, I was always self conscious. I felt everyone was staring at my hair. Then I met Bob at Aj's. I feel that Bob, John and staff were a Godsend. From the moment I walked into Aj's everyone there made me feel so welcome, explained that I am not alone in this. After my consultation Bob ordered my hair extensions. I was super excited. My appointment was on a Saturday. First John colored my hair. It is a beautiful shade of blonde. And , then Bob put my extensions in. I absolutely LOVE my hair now. When I left Aj's that day and drove away, I pulled over down the street and looked in my mirror and cried. I felt beautiful! He gave me my life back. I go everywhere now. I do not feel the need to wear a baseball hat anymore. I get compliments on how beautiful my hair is all of the time. I have not PULLED at all since I have left his Salon. I can not say enough good things about Bob, John and entire staff. They all made me feel like I have known them forever. Even the other customers that were there that day, they were all amazing. I am writing this review subsequent to the purchase of a wig at Gettin' Golden Hair and AJ's Wigs in Hooksett, New Hampshire. I am currently undergoing chemo and treatment for cancer in New York and previously purchased two wigs in New York. There is no comparison between the outstanding service and professionalism I received at Gettin' Golden Hair and AJ's Wigs compared to the lack of service I received at the New York wig store. Robert Cook, the owner of AJ'S is a wig master and his knowledge and expertise are amazing. I showed him the wig I purchased in New York, which was way too much puffy hair for me. He immediately told me he understood what I meant and explained his ideas to me. He thinned the wig and shaped it to a perfect outcome. I had picked out a second wig for purchase, but upon looking at it, Bob suggested another wig, which was a better tone and cut for me. Again, his suggestion was "spot on". He then shaped this wig how I like to wear my hair. Bob also provided instructions as to how to care for the wig, including how to store the wig, style the wig, and wash the wig, something that was never mentioned by the other wig dealer in New York. I should also mention that the two other employees, John and Melanie, were very helpful and pleasant, and made me feel very comfortable. I would highly recommend Gettin' Golden Hair and AJ's Wigs to anyone in need of a wig. read more
