Eric and Lindsey's creativity and passion truly transformed our yard, and the crew (special shoutout to Sam & Anders!) went above and beyond. If you want a team that really knows landscaping and cares about every detail, Aspen is the one to call!

Take the opportunity to grab 'em while you can. When Aspen gets busy, they get VERY busy, and Eric -- I conjecture -- don't quote me -- would need to turn away clients or ask them to go on a waiting list for the following year. Mr. Eric, Ms. Lindsey, and the rest of their brilliant crew have been working on a multi-year project for me putting in hardscape, including grading and, ultimately, changing (soft-scaping) our two acres from lawn to native plants+wildlife flower garden. Eric and crew are experts on native plants. The more I read about "lawns," the more I cringe every time I pass one on the road. Lawns, being non-native plants, they are animal-torturers -- ironically, lawns passively mow down animals. Think of lawns as efficient animal-disposal machines. Do the planet (and your neighborhood) a favor and make your land friendly to critters by insisting on native plants. Native plants and animals evolved together over millions of years, so when one's land doesn't have native plants, wildlife starves, all the way up and down the food-chain. Lawns are gasoline- and water-guzzlers. The lawn industry uses up a humongous amount of petroleum products merely in lawn-mowing. I am a "Gone the Lawn" person now. Lawns are appropriate ONLY under certain circumstances, like one is a croquet fanatic. I never knew that gardening was year-round. April is the month everyone waits for, but planning starts the previous autumn. Eric's physically-demanding season winds down in mid-November, so let him see your plot before the snows hide the land. Autumn is the best time to start brainstorming the design phase for the following April. Eric and crew are not only landscapers but artists.

When I asked for replacements the next spring, Tye said he had given me the receipt from the grower and they would need that to get new plants. I didn't remember receiving the receipt and couldn't find it in my book of receipts for things like that. We came to an agreement that he would split the cost of replacement plants. He came out with a crew and replaced all the trees, added potting soil around the roots, and recommended that I water them daily to avoid problems like what occurred with the original set.

They contacted me right away and initially appeared professional and friendly. Unfortunately, the quality of work and follow-through did not match the promises that were made. The project was not completed within the timeline they provided, and eventually they stopped returning to finish the work altogether. The new fence they installed is already falling apart. The concrete patio was never properly sealed, which has caused cracking and deterioration. They were also supposed to install a round fireplace, but instead installed the wrong fireplace, cut the ends off while supposedly looking for a replacement top, and never returned to correct the issue. In addition, the gravel area was never sealed, causing the gravel to constantly shift and require continuous sweeping and maintenance. While the workers themselves were kind and respectful, the overall project was left incomplete and poorly finished. As a result, I have lost money and am now in a position where I may have to pay someone else to redo and repair the entire project. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of follow-through, workmanship, and professionalism.

I have no idea how someone saw a fenced garden bed full of wildflowers, annuals and perennials heavy with buds about to bloom, and mistakes them for weeds. All that while missing plenty of other weeds all around the building. The landlord was almost as upset as I was, and said they had a laundry list of other mistakes this company had made just in the last year. You get what you pay for, which in this case means you'll probably be paying someone else in not too long, to fix the shoddy and sloppy work these guys do. I called Messner's office to see if they could help fix the ruined garden bed or compensate me for the work I'd have to put in replacing what was destroyed. When I called, the office manager was rude, evaded responsibility, and had a real "I don't know what to tell you, these things happen, I wasn't there so don't blame me" attitude. I assume he must be related to the owner, because why else would you have such a rude and unfriendly person answering the phone? It took nearly a week to hear back from the company that they had finally decided they could help put in some plants to replace what was torn out, and then another week for me to go outside and see that their idea of "fixing" what they damaged was putting 3 teeny tiny daylilies in a 30+square foot garden bed. They look so pathetic and lonely, plopped in the middle of a bed that used to hold so many plants, that it almost feels like adding insult to injury. At this point, I'm tired of dealing with their rude office manager, I don't trust their workers to know what they're doing, and I guess I should just be glad they didn't do even more damage to the rest of my garden. If the business owner is reading this, assuming they care, please know that your people are not representing you and your business well at all.

When we got the estimate I had some questions as to what it was exactly for and I contacted them by email and was assured it was what I was wanting. Turns out it wasn't what I thought and when I questioned them all they said was that was the contract I signed. They made no attempt to help fix the issues, we were treated very poorly and disrespectfully and they just kept repeating that we signed the contract. When we talked to the estimator he said he knew what we were asking for but he changed it to make it easier!!!!! What??? That's not what we asked for or thought we were signing, they dont care at all, just want their money. Terrible experience with a terrible company, ran by terrible people. Don't waste your time or money with them.
