Labor Day 2023: I came here after hearing about this place from some colleagues at work…read more My goal was to compare their oysters and seafood cocktail against another place I visited last week. The oysters were good but the presentation was a bit off. They come out in a huge tray of ice which melted kinda quick - if you wait too long to have your oysters, you will be pulling them out of water. Also, the cocktail sauce that came with them was super watered down and messy to pour from the little cups it came in. The shrimp cocktail, though, was beautifully presented and delicious. It was topped with cilantro, red onion, and avocado. I relished every bite. Chips and salsa before the meal were good, too. The chips are dusted with some spicy powder which you can get hooked on, and the salsas were good and spicy. Unfortunately for me, though, I was exposed to Maroon 5, One Republic, and Bruno Mars songs blasting throughout the place. It felt kinda clubby, and not any club I would ever want to be in. All in all, though, not a bad place for seafood. I am definitely coming back after hearing about other entrees to try, especially their grilled octopus.

I had a "Levanta Muertos" cocktail and a Huachinango (Red Snapper) plate. The food was awesome. Definitely coming back to this place. Looking forward to the other stuff on the menu

I know my friends liked their food better so it might just have been my dish that was a bit tough. The service was alright, a bit slow, but the workers were nice. My wife and I were in Laredo for a Global Entry interview at the Laredo Processing Center. We drove…read moredown for ~3 hours since neither Austin nor San Antonio airports has openings until October and September, respectively. We have an international trip coming up in October so we wanted to knock this thing out as quickly as possible. OK, back to the review. Before we left for Laredo, we checked out recent articles for restaurants to check out and things to do. There were quite a few intriguing dining options but less with regards to appealing options for what to do. We checked out the historic district but, teeming multitudes of perfume stores and money exchange places, the area lacked any charm whatsoever. It actually felt like we were in Mexico. When we checked into our hotel, we asked the lady at the front desk for lunch recommendations and things to do. She couldn't recommend anything to see in the area but suggested Palenque Grill for lunch, which was on our list of possibles. Palenque Grill, located just off I-35, is quite spacious. We were seated immediately and served some warm and crispy tortilla chips with various sauces...loved them all but I preferred the spicy salsa while my wife loved the bean dip. My wife ordered the Pechuga de Pollo ($19) and I tried their Puntas de Filete ($21). My wife was surprised at how flavorful the chicken was, although she thought the veggies were overcooked. I liked the flavor of tender beef tips in that savory sauce. Loved the freshly made flour and corn tortillas. All in all, a good lunch option, albeit perhaps not the best value around. Not your typical Tex-Mex. Service was very attentive and friendly. Lunch for 2 came out to just over $55 with tip.

So very disappointed with service, marketing, and meal. I came from California and wanted to have…read moresomething nice and unique. The menu online looks spectacular and had a lot of interesting dishes. I was super excited. I saw that they were open late and I was also very happy about this because my meal was after work. I arrived at 9:30 walked in the side entrance and saw a post hunched over and squatted down, looking at her iPhone. I also saw another employee leaning on the host stand talking to her. He didn't greet me neither did she until I walked to the front of the house stand. She got up from her crouch position and said can I help you? I was surprised to see what she was wearing, an oversized hoodie with some type of logo on it, which was not an appropriate thing to wear, and it did not match the other employee that were more crisp. I said dining for one and grabbed a menu and slid it across the host stand out of pure laziness. She slumped her way over with the menu hanging on her left side and sat me at a table. Wow what a lousy first impression for a restaurant that I was so excited to visit. A server came over gave me a menu and brought me water. Disappointed to see that the menu was completely different from the menu that I saw online. No unique dishes and the variety was not great. However, I was there and felt I'd give it a chance. A server that was at the bar entering tickets or something, kept looking over at my table, but no one ever acknowledged me after I was seated. I waited for about 10 minutes until someone realized I need assistance. The server finally came over. He was polite to check my order served my meal left me to be on my own to check on me one time, but it certainly wasn't a two minute check when he should to see if my meal was to my satisfaction. My plates were not cleared and I had to ask for the check.. the food was OK. I had the salmon. Nothing spectacular. risotto was uneventful. Got my check and left. No goodbye, no thank you for coming in no stand out service. As a restaurant professional in California, I can't figure out if it's just a Texas thing or they rate everything high or this restaurant truly is deserving of its accolades..

We had drinks at the bar to begin with and even ordered a few appetizers that were fantastic!! The frog legs and the charbroiled oysters! I guess I have to return!
