Wanted to check out their new location, I definitely prefer when they were on Fillmore, but still great quality sushi and service. I tried their new maki box and I just always love their avocado maki I know it's simple, but it's delicious. I got there maybe 10 minutes before opening and was maybe 5th in line, but shortly after 10+ people go behind me. I still prefer the nigir/maki box, but the maki box is a good budget option.
I didn't realized they moved from the location near Japantown on Fillmore St. to walking distance from my hotel near Chinatown on Kearny St. It's impossible to find parking at the new location but now I can plan accordingly and walk over from my hotel. I recommend pre-ordering online for pick-up to save time. It's take-out only. Don't forget to wait 30-60 min before consuming. It makes a world of difference. Trust me!
I only had 30 minutes to grab a quick bite on a Saturday afternoon, making it the perfect opportunity to finally give Aji Kiji a try. I arrived at 1:50 PM, so naturally, there were only four options left in the display. I almost turned around initially because there was no sign and the storefront looked dark and vacant. Deciding to walk up anyway, I found a single staff member working the counter. I ended up ordering the Sake Don and the 6-piece Maguro and Maki Bento. Instead of serving me the bento from the display fridge, the staff member went to a different fridge to grab a fresh one and asked that I wait another 30 minutes before eating. While this was a bit inconvenient given that I was looking for an immediate meal, I appreciated the commitment to freshness over convenience. Sake Don: Featured four slices of smoked salmon and five slices of salmon sashimi. The slices were thick and completely free of any fishy taste. However, they weren't salmon belly, which is usually my preference. Maguro & Maki Bento: The six nigiri included three very lean cuts of tuna alongside three slightly fattier, lighter pieces. The maki set featured unagi, avocado, and smoked negi-salmon. Pricing-wise, it's on the expensive side but no different than any other sushi bento boxes in the city. I preferred the maguro over the salmon and I hope to try their handroll set or the 10-piece nigiri don next time!
Boxes sell out fast! I went one day some time before 2 pm and they were sold out so had to go back the next day around 12! Indoor: no seating. You'll just see a nice clean orange interior with a counter with sushi displayed and employees right behind it. Service: friendly employees and quick service! I didn't get a menu for each box though. Not sure if I needed to ask but I guess I could've looked more carefully when I was picking out my boxes! ***HIGHLY recommend*** the handroll box. I'd probably get this again over the regular boxes. Yes it requires more work but so flavorful and the fish texture went so well with everything and you can customize it. They have a perfect amount of seaweed to go with it too! Also *LOVE* the pickles. They were nice to eat in between and really a balanced out the whole box.
Food was ok. It was really busy so there was a wait, they were having problems with their register. It was a nice and simply decorated.
I got the 20 pc Omakase box and my boyfriend got the salmon one. The omakase box comes with a little menu telling you what's in it and the cashier tell you how to track which is which on the menu. I LOVED the box. Each piece was really good. It is a bit pricey so it's not an every day place for me, maybe once a month. The salmon box is really good too and since my bf only really like salmon, it was perfect for him. This one was more affordable and could be a more frequent splurge. This is a pure takeout location and there is no seating here. You can always walk a block over and sit in the open plaza and eat! Walking further to the rooftop salesforce plaza is also a great option
Line was out the door when I arrived at 11. This place is super popular among the locals and tourist. The presentation for each box was very nice and the quality is high compare to normal sushi places. I got three boxes, omakase, sake don and hosomaki. Salmon was super buttery and the rice was season well. A tab more salty that I would like but I end up rolling it with the seaweed to make it into a hand roll. My mom really likes the hosomaki because it was a good portion and tasty. I ate the omakase and this was a great treat from long day of standing in line trying to get big bang merch. People who work there are so nice. I will come back. :)
A super fancy sushi box you take togo to enjoy at the comfort of your own home.. or in front of the Golden Gate Bridge! this is pretty pricy, but the experience and the presentation of these boxes made it worth while. Decided to plan a picnic date and bring these out to enjoy the view of the Golden Gate Bridge! 10 piece sushi & maki - 8.5/10 loved the toro this was my favorite cut! Also the yellow tail was soo good and none of the nigiri's were fishy! It was fresh and they even give you a little soy sauce packet to enjoy your sushi with. The sushi rice they make here actually made the bites better than your normal sushi spots. The rice was marinated well and had its own unique flavor that you can't really find anywhere else Hand roll 8.5/10 - this was fun to make! I would just make a hand roll with all the fish and eat it in one bite LOL, however my fav was the toro (again) it was so buttery and it just melts in your mouth. Tip: order ahead online so you can just come In and pick up especially if you have a specific box you really want. I wasn't able to get a Tekka Don online since I ordered too late, so just picked up a hand roll when I came to pick up my 10 piece box
One of my favorite sushi spots when I visited the area! I went during the weekday for lunch and they still had a good amount of options to pick from. The interior is so aesthetic and reminded me of Japan! I got the nigiri and maki box and everything tasted fresh! I did not want the box to finish cause it was so good and almost went back to get another box. I would highly recommend to check out this spot if you are in the area!
Really decent and fresh quality sushi for the environment, which is take out sushi! I got the hand roll set for about $30, and it was super fresh and filling! They gave me fresh nori to have with it and my friend and I took it to salesforce tower to picnic with! I'm really enjoying all the quality sushi take out options in the fidi area cropping up!
Got the prettiest and most delicious sushi to-go bento box, had a picnic at the park, enjoyed the sunshine, and listened to live music. Absolutely amazing meal! Can't wait to go back to try some other sushi combos~

4.5 stars/5--I felt like they gave me too much rice with my hand roll box ($30.) It's an elevated takeout sushi spot (no seating, minimal decor). I like that they're investing in downtown SF (they moved from the Fillmore district near JTown.) Their boxes are very aesthetic. Prices are fairly steep, but fish is good quality and they give a good portion of fish (albeit I felt like too much rice to fill up the box.) They sell out, so get there early or be prepared to leave empty-handed. Will be back.
Aji Kiji is a great takeout sushi spot in Chinatown. We took a quick search on Yelp for food when we were at Home Cafe in the area and found Aji Kiji! So happy we did because it hit the spot. It was just a three minute walk away and we were hopeful they still had some things since it was close to their closing time at 4pm. We were able to get a variety omakase and a handroll variety. Both were delicious and tasted pretty fresh. Would love to grab this again, maybe for a picnic. read more
Not sure if I should be happier they're in Chinatown now because parking always sucks here. I recommend using one of the parking garages nearby but street parking was still manageable on a Saturday. I like how they kept everything the same.. felt like they just cut and pasted from their old location. The food didn't end up the same though. The fish wasn't as flavorful and the seasoned rice felt a bit overpowering too. Hopefully just an one off! I recommend eating at either St Mary Park nearby or at Transamerica Pyramid. I can't recommend getting Plentea next door though - their overall quality has dropped a lot over the years. read more

Fresh, tender, raw fish with well seasoned rice. Definitely a luxury to try. Almost 58 dollars for 16 total pieces. Our favorites were of course the salmon but surprisingly the scallop! A quiet clean hidden little shop, with a parking structure down the street. The cashier was kind and helpful, informing us to eat 30 min after for quality taste. They close at 3 and when we came around 1 PM and there was still a pretty decent variety! read more

Tiny little grab-and-go sushi joint with a small variety of cute little boxes. Go early, because they tend to sell out. High quality, but also a tad pricey. 6 piece Sushi & Maki: $30.41 for a not-huge sushi lunch is a bit steep. But at the rate that slop bowl prices are growing, perhaps paying a little more for a much higher quality lunch is better. Each piece was crisp and fresh, not old "fishy" taste. Some of the pieces tasted a little smoky, like the tuna, which added a nice surprise flavor. The maki were rolled super tight, with really dense rich. I especially liked the unagi maki. Bara Chirashi: A few cents shy of $40, this is quite an expensive grab-and-go office lunch! It is impressive to look at the plethora of colorful fish bits entirely covering a layer of seasoned rice. I tried to eat the little fish pieces individually, so it didn't all meld together. But it was hard to truly savor the fish when the piece was really small, unlike sushi where you get a lot of it in your mouth at once. While this looked cool, I think I prefer the Sushi + Maki combo more. read more
My first thought was ヤバ. This might be the best sushi I had in the US. Usually sushi costs around $30-50 and I suck it up but this is worth more than the price. First, sushi rice is not white. That means it's usually fancy. I thought pickles and maki is just a space filler but no. I loved every thing about this box. Beautiful presentation and my hotel (where I ate) felt like Michelin restaurant. It's so good I enjoyed the food/art slowly. Everything was so perfect. If you are visitor of SF, there is no seating there. The store told me I had to wait at least 30 minutes to eat the sushi because it's too cold. This gives you time to get back to hotel or find a place to enjoy. It was pretty filling. read more
This was honestly a splurge for me but it was worth it. Beautifully arranged and deliciousss. I was able to try new sushi selections that I've never tried before. I'm not sure what the sushi combo would actually be worth so maybe it really is a good deal. Service was the sweetest ever and the ambiance of the place is insanely cool. Came here on a whim and happened to be first in line, 5 min before opening on a Thursday. Beautifully presented bento boxes/nigiri/chirashi. I opted for the omakase set to get a little bit of everything, but the 10 piece nigiri set looked yummy too. Friendly worker in the front who explained everything to us. They usually sell out quick, she told us by 12-1pm they normally sell out and they open at 11am! Each nigiri piece was so fresh and I would love to come back. read more
YUMMM another take out sushi spot in fidi? Super happy Aji Kiji moved to Kearny - Fillmore was WAY too far! I did take out from their fillmore location about a year ago and had a great experience with ordering ahead. This time i walked into the store at around 12:20pm on a Thursday and there was only a line of 2 people. By the time i paid there was a line out the door! So definitely come early or order ahead! Note: when i got there they were not sold out of anything - but i saw other reviews saying they sell out fast. Decor was super basic (in a nice way) and there is no seating.. definitely a take out kind of place! Taste and quality wise i really enjoyed the sake don! The fish was fresh and the little sides were a perfect compliment to the entree. I love salmon and thought it was a decent amount for the price. Total was $30 ($28 + tax/tip)... overall pretty standard for SF. Although my wallet hurts my belly is very happy! :) They did have more expensive options.... maybe one day ill splurge but ill leave those for the tech bros for now! read more

If you've seen this hype place on the internet but don't know how to get this, here's what I recommend: - preorder on their website for pickup (orders open about a week out, but we had no issue ordering 2 days in advance) - there's no line at the shop if you go at open, and then you're just in n out to grab your preorder - super easy sitch for a weekday, not sure about the weekends, but the entire process took less than 15m Price was reasonable: - 6 piece nigiri $28 - salmon don $28 - hand roll box $30 (this was our fave) Def recommend for high quality takeout sushi! read more
I made it to the new location on Kearney and though farther from my house it is still possible LOL. ONCE AGAIN the taste and texture feels like Japan and since I am resisting going back this year it is a pleasure to splurge now and again on their fare. A change in economics makes it harder but it is too difficult to resist and I find myself making excuses just the same. I was finally able to try the KAISEN DON as when I arrived there were only two things left: Kaisen Don or Kaisen Done- meant to be!! Shoganai ne? Absolutely delicious especially the Uni which melted in the mouth and begged me to have more!! Honestly it was all sublime and I tried to make an order but the app wasn't taking any. I will to enjoy the week and Cherryblossom Season! read more
Im between a 3 and a 4. If my company is paying, I will definitely come back. But if I have to use my own money, I'd rather go to my spot in Oakland. The fish here is pretty fresh and good but I'm still quite hungry after spending a lot on lunch :( read more

Sushi takeout on the other side of Geary from Japantown. Basically across the street from State Bird and The Progress. Take out only. Order online ahead of time and select the bentos you want as well as a pickup time. Upon arriving, check in with staffm first name + last name, and they'll provide you with your order as well as chopsticks and napkins. Be sure to wait about 30-45 min before consuming so that the sushi can come to proper temp. Boxes are presented beautifully. - omakase ($54) - 10 unique pieces of nigiri, 6 maki rolls, and some pickled veggies. Every piece of fish was well curated and very fresh. Came with a card listing each fish and the best order to enjoy. - sake don ($28) - 5 slices of salmon and 4 slices or torched salmon over a bed of rice + some pickled veggies. Really good quality salmon and while both were good, I really enjoyed the fresh salmon over the torched salmon. Hands down, the BEST takeout sushi I've ever had. It's specifically take out only and you cannot dine in. They recommend waiting about 45 minutes to get the sushi to room temperature before eating. As you can see from the photos, they have a wide selection of bento boxes to choose from and each is made with care and quality. Highly recommend. Since it is take out only, we walked a few blocks to japan town and found a seat to eat there, helped get to the 45 minute waiting period which felt like forever haha. read more
Wow- discovered from Fellow Yelpers! And squeezed it in before new years! Got 2 small boxes of sushi just to try - for lunch share w/ my daughter and The Bara Zushi for dinner. Wow SO delicious- the sushi rice was seasoned to PERFECTION! And looked like brown rice too! Arrived 10-15 after my 12:30 pick up slot -trouble finding parking- probably best near to the Fillmore. No sushi to see and no one inside. I saw people pop in and out as I approached- a plain sign outside said sold out. I waited a bit inside and a girl came out and helped me. She had my order held down below. Very friendly and kind. Chopsticks were top quality too! Loved the clean spare space of wood. Very serene. It is at the level of highest marks no doubt, literally took me back to my hometown sushi spot in Japan. (Like that scene in a Ratatouille where the critic is transported in that one bite back to his childhood!) If you "like" sushi you should try this place- THIS is what real sushi is supposed to taste like. And if you "love" sushi, you need to know about this place! Happy New Year Everyone! read more
I believe the omakase box is supposed to mimic a real Omakase course which can be eaten at your own convenience. The nigiri pieces were excellent; I really enjoyed both of the salmon and sea bream pieces as well as the scallop. The rolls were ok, I only really enjoyed the eel roll. For $60 (after tax), this is on the more affordable side for higher quality sushi in SF. Another nice plus is (I'm pretty sure) the wasabi is real, so I could actually enjoy it without it being extremely spicy. The staff just hand you a box and the entire store is take out only. I would recommend ordering a box the day before so you don't have to wait in line and can ensure you get whatever box you want. So delicious that I could CRY! There are no words for this; everyone has to try it. Obviously, the sushi was all amazing. Melt-in-your-mouth, harmonious, chef's kiss. However, I found the pickled radish and cucumber to go beautifully with the fish! I would literally buy a tub of those pickles if I could, and I'm not usually a big fan of pickles. My boyfriend reserved two boxes for Valentine's Day. When we got there, the line went down the block. Make sure to pre-order, especially on holidays! read more

Aji Kiji has been in my bookmarks for a long time and I'm happy I got to finally try it. The prepared boxes tastes as good as it looks! We got the sushi 6pc + maki and the hand roll set. All the items were perfection and there wasn't a single hint of fish smell. The scallop is usually one of my favorites but everything else stood out more in comparison. This was also my first time seeing a fish-shaped soy sauce bottle in person and it was adorable! The store itself is so empty except for the counter, which reminds me of typical stores in Japan & Korea. It really is a grab-and-go sushi place. We ended up walking to Union Square to enjoy our food since they recommended us to wait 1/2 an hour to an hour anyways. read more

a takeout-only spot featuring aesthetic sushi boxes. the store is very minimalist, and loved the jazz music in the background! the workers were really friendly and patient. though the boxes look beautiful, the various cuts of fish were too fishy for my liking. I did really enjoy the pickled cucumbers though! Wish this spot was closer to the South Bay, I've been looking for a spot like this around San Jose. Fish quality is solid for the price. Everything was yummy and tastes fresh. I placed an online order for pickup the night before. There are no seats inside, the sushi is takeout only. I love the omakase style boxes with higher quality fish. I ordered 1x Sushi 6 Piece & Maki 1x Sake 6 Piece & Maki 1 x Sushi 10 Piece & Maki The maki were surprisingly good, the sushi 10 piece + a sake 6 piece was perfect to share between 2 people. The sake 6 piece was a yummy treat for $28. If I wanted more variety, I would splurge and get the 10 piece omakase box for $54 I would definitely recommend this place, and place your order online because they tend to sell out. read more
Really delicious, good quality takeout sushi. I love that it's take out only and the convenience of ordering ahead to pick up. They recommend waiting half an hour to get the sushi to room temperature a bit before eating. We picked up our food and walked to Japantown. Multiple people stopped by to ask where we got our sushi. Really good quality sushi, and I generally don't even like sushi very much. This is a takeout only spot in Japantown with limited quantities of sushis in cute little boxes. They always run out, so either come early or order ahead of time. I swung by on a weekend around 12:30 and got a box of half sashimi, half unagi/salmon rolls. It was $35 but the quality of fish was high -- very buttery and flavorful but not overly fishy. read more
One of the best sushi in a box I ever have. We arrived when the store just opened and the were people in line. We lined up and it moved pretty fast. Inside is nice and clean. All the sushi boxes are behind the glass display. It is togo only. The sushi boxes are organized nicely by types. You can just choose what appealing to you or the one you want. The price various depend on the items. The nigiri and the roll are so fresh and yummy. You should give it a try if you like sushi. read more

I have yet to hear about this place until one of my friends told me about it. It made me feel like a fake foodie that i never heard about it. The sushi was so tasty, i am not sure if it was because of the long drive but the fish was not fishy, the wasabi was enough to taste but not overboard (you could add more if you wanted to). I like the eel too, there was not too much sauce to lose the eel flavor but it was enough to want more. read more
A small shop with a few workers that has a display of fresh omakase style sushi. Service was quick, and the cashier kept the online orders in the fridge with instructions on how to eat each order with utensils. For the price and the quality, you cannot ask for more. Takeout omakase so do not expect a table or any seats inside. If you want a taste of what's omakase is like this is the spot to put your foot on the door with a take home experience. Off to the food review!! 4.5/5 - Bara Chirashi - Fresh tasting fish with each bit with a variety of bursting flavor. The bento box is neat and a little flimsy, but overall minimalistic look is quite eye catching and quality cannot be beat. A beautiful mess of flavor with a fish bottle soy sauce. 4.7/5 - Omakase (L) - A menu came with this set of sushi including the order to eat the sushi. Very similar to omakase style sushi in the comfort of your own home. Each nigiri tasted unique and doesn't really need the soysauce. Comes with some ginger and wasabi to help reset your palate. Really good and fresh fish. Maki rolls were alright but the nigiri are the star of the show. read more
We arrived at 10:50am and there was already a line. We managed to order at 11:18, and by then they only had five boxes of omakase left so I highly recommend pre-ordering if you can. We got two omakase boxes and a tekka don. Service was friendly, and I appreciated that they offered hot tea while we were waiting outside in line. Everything was fresh and the presentation was beautiful. My favorites were the seared salmon, black sea bream, and scallop. I think it's worth trying once, but I wasn't blown away and wouldn't go out of my way to try it again. read more
