I reported the problem to the leasing office, and I was placed on a pest control schedule that I was told would last six weeks. During that time, we repeatedly had to empty our cabinets and move furniture to prepare for treatments. Unfortunately, after only a couple of visits, the pest control technician stopped coming. When I asked the leasing office why the treatments had stopped, I was told the technician believed the treatment was not working because we were using other products to kill the cockroaches. I later spoke with other residents who said they had been given the same explanation. Because the infestation continued, I contacted the Malden Board of Health. An inspector came to inspect the apartment, but I left feeling that the underlying issues in the building were not going to be resolved. Based on my experience, management was friendly during the leasing process, but I found them much less responsive after I moved in and reported ongoing problems. If pest control, cleanliness, and maintenance are important to you, I recommend carefully considering these issues before choosing to live here.
